...doomed Barbossa and the other pirates to an immortal life as ‘living dead.’ (Jack escaped the curse by being left to die on the island - Barbossa did him a favour in the long run.) Meanwhile, also sailing across the ocean is Commodore Norrington, he also loves Elizabeth, and is in hot pursuit of Jack and Will. ==My Opinion== A great fun packed film, with lots of 'Carry On' type innuendo from the lovable Captain Jack Sparrow. Easy to follow story line and with a running time of 137 minutes its not overly long either. Johnny Depp (wonderful actor in my eyes!) portrays Jack Sparrow absolutely brilliantly and its ...

...to my seat as fearsome pirates attacked the Caribbean town of Port Royal and kidnapped the lovely Elizabeth Swann [Keira Knightley] and I marvelled at the banter between Captain Jack Sparrow [Johnny Depp] and Will Turner [Orlando Bloom]. It all begins with a scene from Will and Elizabeth's childhood. Elizabeth is a young daughter of the Governor of Port Royal and Will is a scruffy child found floating in the water. Elizabeth soon discovers a pirate ... ...they first met, and the pirates it belongs to want it back, led by Barbossa [Geoffrey Rush]. What makes things worse is that this band of pirates are even more terrible than they seem - which becomes apparent when the moon rises... To say any more would ruin things, but I found it an immensely satisfying film. I would say I wished they'd left it without sequels, but as I'm a sucker for a character I loved seeing more of those I loved from the first ...

...to watch any of the pirates of the Caribbean movies. I am not one of those girls who swoons at the mere mention of Johnny Depp's name and if im honest everyone telling me how good the movies are and what happened squashed any need to watch them. That was until yesterday when the movie was thrust into my face when I allowed my friend ... ...Turner (unbeknown to him a pirates son) and a motley crew on a mission to retake control of the black pearl and at the same time rescue Elizabeth from the clutches of Hector Barbossa and his cursed crew. Advantages: Great cast, crew, storyline, special effects - you name it. Disadvantages: A tad predictable
...Right, a quick overview then. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is a Disney film directed by Gore Verbinski, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and starring (the great) Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in the main roles as well as having Jack Davenport and Jonathon Price in slightly smaller roles. The film is (very) loosely based on Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride (at Disneyland). I say loosely ... ...but the ideas of the pirates and the towns are in the film as well as those sneak little things from the ride - such as a dog holding the keys to a cell and the prisoners trying to beckon him forward - the exact thing which is shown in the ride.
Right, so onto the film plot. Because of ultimately his popularity, the story revolves around Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), a not-too-successful pirate who has come to Port Royale to 'commondere' the ...

...Black Pearl ship and its pirates was absolutely outstanding it actually gave me goose pimples seeing them walking on the Ocean's bed, Terminator 3 eat your heart out!
This film is also good because it has something for nearly everyone, Action, Romance, Adventure and Comedy.
The final scenes may seem a bit cliché but its all good.
I definitely give this my 2 thumbs up.
Soundtrack: WOW this orchestrated soundtrack adds everything that’s needed ... ...tune on the way home annoying my friends who had also seen it and were ultimately impressed.
The monkey on Barbarossa's shoulder is even a great monkey actor (if that makes sense) and check out the last scene at the end of the credits it made me jump. That is Possibly the only scary moment in the whole film which is great, because it shows you can have horror, make it top quality to watch for both adults and children.
The topsoil of action with ...

Also the skeliton pirates lookvery real indeed and are extremely we worked on. The Black Pearl ship itself is also great, looking forboading with its black menacing sales.
MY THOUGHTS
I personally think that this film is great. It is always very enjoyable with so many plot twists a tornado would get confused.
A gentle light humour is also used throughout the film to keep it enjoyable. It is always quite intelligent so every one ... ...but leave you wanting more. They are brilliantly put together and never get boring.
The acting is always superb, Johnny Depp in particular giving a great performance. Also Geoffry rush is very convincing as the evil pirate.

Advantages: Great action Disadvantages: Some rather illogical decisions at some points
...so we decided to see Pirates of the Caribbean, the only vaguely decent-looking film that we all hadn't seen.
I must admit I was rather dubious of how good this film was going to be. I mean it contained not only pirates, but ZOMBIE pirates. Plus it seemed like it could be tending more to the fairer sex with the inclusion of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in the cast.
The film started off rather slowly, with Elizabeth (a youing girl at the time) taking ... ...floating in the water and spotting the legendary "Black Pearl", which is a ship manned by the undead.
The film then cuts to several years later and Elizabeth (now played by Kiera Knightly) is being pressured into marrying a member of the Navy who she doesn't want to. So far, so soap opera. But then Jack Sparrow (Depp) arrives. He saves Elizabeth from drowning but is immediately told that he is going to be executed for being a pirate. This is where ...

...in there and lots of Pirates and soldiers and mistaken identity and laughs. That's all I'm going to tell you about the story. The Script:
Well, I should mention here that this movie is based on a ride in Disneyland. Now, if you haven't been on that ride, you're going to miss a whole lot, because half of the fun is recognizing the bits from the ride in the movie. Seriously, I mean that. The problem is, the pirates killed one of their mates before they realized that they needed his blood to remove the curse. So the dilemma here is, how could they have killed this guy, if technically, they can't be killed because of the curse? Plus, if they're dead, then they can't bleed, can they? Well, this is a pretty big hole in the story line, but a necessary one. ...

...But now we have Pirates of the Caribbean, a movie based on a theme park ride and backed by the bravado of Jerry Bruckheimer.
