Advantages: light hearted fun film , for a wet afternoon . Disadvantages: dont watch if you expect a traditional western

Historically correct , of course not , you could not really imagine those prospectors bursting into song at every conceivable moment , but ... ...as a light harmless entertainment it is excellent . Lee Marvin singing " I was born under wandering star " is one of cinemas memorable moments .And hearing Clint Eastwood `s rendition of " I talked to the trees" is certainly something different . The cinematography is excellent ,the direction moves along at a fast pace and the musical numbers are extremely well staged. if you enjoy musicals this is a film well worth making the effort to see. availabe ...
