Advantages: Lovely story, touching, emotional, good cast Disadvantages: Bit soppy, some might not think its as good as the book
...better than its book!
P.S. I Love You tells us the story of Holly and Gerry, a young married couple very much in love with each other. Tragedy strikes when Gerry dies of a brain tumour and leaves Holly distraught and alone, missing her beloved Gerry. But she finds hope again in the form of letters from Gerry, from beyond the grave, guiding her and letting her know that Gerry is still with her. But is Holly going to let the letters rule her life? ... ...out?
As you can probably tell from the plot synopsis, this isn't the most cheerful movie in the world, but is certainly a very touching one. The movie portrays a range of emotions, from grief and loss through to friendship, new love and finding your own strength within. I admit that the film did bring a few tears to my eyes in parts, it really gets the emotions going in its viewer and I certainly found myself blinking back the tears. The idea in ...

...one of them signed; P.S. I Love You. Following the instructions on the letters, Holly's depression slowly lifts, and, with Gerry's guidance, she learns how to enjoy life once again…
'P.S. I Love You' is an incredibly heart-warming film, and a great cinematic achievement in unpretentious storytelling.
As you will have guessed by the title, the movie is a weepy so make sure you have a box of tissues at hand - what the title doesn't tell you is that ... ...make you wish that all the characters in the movie were real.
This is such a profound and thought-provoking movie, yet it is based on a very simple storyline… the loss of a loved one. Holly's grief is one that people can relate to, one that we will all, at some point or another in our lives, experience… simply because everything in life is temporary, including life itself.
The writers have woven such a beautiful story, and have managed to go one ...

I first heard about P.S. I Love You from a man I used to work with. He took his family to see the film and admitted that he did in fact shed a few tears. He recommended it to me and I didn't actually get to see it until this week. I did however buy and read the book before now.
I loved the book, in fact it was the first book which ever made me cry, it was such an emotional story I couldn't wait to get the film.
When it comes to films which pull ... ...suits that audience perfectly. However if your more into action and horror its probably one to miss.
Gerry is most girls dream man, I think I've found mine, and since P.S. I Love You I'm quite happy to get out of bed to switch off the light!

What better way to spend a Saturday night than curled up with a cuddly husband and a glass of wine watching a really good film? Well, when you have two small children sleeping upstairs it's the best option! Last night we chose to watch the much acclaimed film PS I Love You and I wasn't disappointed. This really is a girly film though and although my husband watched it with me it definitely wasn't his film of choice. However, after a few months, starting on her 30th birthday, letters start arriving from him suggesting things that she should do, like going out ...

Well I feel that I have either been spoilt or my hubby is after something, for the past two nights I have been allowed to watch my film choices, mind you bet it will be his choice tonight! This film is one which I have also wanted to see for quite a bit but never got around to it. The couple are living in a small apartment and Holly is not happy and is always wanting more out of her life. At the very start of the film we see them having a big row over where they are living and about starting a family. They soon make up!
We then move on to the Winter were we are at Gerry's funeral. We learn he died of ...

I have nothing against 'chick flicks' as they are the films normal girls like, just as action movies are for normal boys, 'PS I Love You' the big word-of-mouth movie on opinion sites in 2008 and so at least worth a look. And with blockbusters doing the excellent five older movies for the whole week for just five quid rental it seemed the right time to rent it. Everyone I know was talking about how good this book was by Cecelia Ahern and I must admit I hadn’t heard of it. As time went on and more and more people mentioned it regularly I thought I might give the film a go so I bought the dvd and one evening I thought I would subject my boyfriend to it. After all the opinions from my friends I thought it would be a good film to watch. ...I watched Knocked up and P.S. I Love You. I’m not in a mood to write a review on Knocked up after watching P.S. I Love You. I’m still under the moment of the film. Probably I am too sentimental these days but it was such a touching film that I can hardly find words. This film is about a young couple - Gerry (Gerard Butler) and Holly (Hilary Swank) - who love each other very much. Sounds odd I know, but the story is not about their happy life. Gerry dies is a brain tumour. Holly seems to be very lonely. Her friends and family don’t let her alone. They visit her on her 30th birthday when she receives a birthday cake and a cassette with a message for her from his dead husband. He knows her wife very well ...

Advantages: An amazing storyline, sweet, cute, sad everything you want in this kind of film! Disadvantages: The changes from the book...I wouldn't watch after just reading the book!!
I read the book PS I love you by Cecilia Ahern a good few years ago now, and loved it so much, and when the film came out, I was at first very excited, and then decided I didn't want to watch it since most of the time the film of books ruins the story! Advantages: FANTASTIC STORY WHICH PULLED AT THE HEART STRINGS! Disadvantages: GERARD BUTLERS IRISH ACCENT WAS A BIT DODGY IN PLACES!
I'm not a huge fan of love stories so was a little reluctant to see this (I wanted to see Gerard Butler in a completely different role to the one he played in 300). I was pleasantly surprised by this film which has been adapted from the best selling book. Fantastic stoyline with superb performaces by the leading actors - not forgetting the brilliantly played supporting roles by Harry Connick Jnr, Kathy Bates & the Irish bloke who plays William!

~~Stuff and nonsense about the book ~~
As Hollywood adaptations go, this is a fairly good one. I've read the book, and did enjoy it and so I was ready to be disappointed by the film. Surprisingly, it made me laugh, and the characters were a good representation of Cecelia Aherns characters from the book. ~~The Story~~
Holly lives ... ...but broke, both struggling to make ends meet and thinking about having a child. Tragedy strikes when Gerry is told he has a brain tumour and is given a short time to live (this is left out of the film, the first scene shows Gerry and Holly arguing and making up, the next is of Gerrys funeral).
What happens next keeps Hollys memories alive for a little bit longer as Gerry managed arrange letters to be sent to Holly as little reminders of him and to ...

This movie follows Hillary Swank as she tries to deal with the untimely death of her husband. Before he died her husband, played by Gerard Butler, set up a series of letters to be delivered to his wife after his death. The letters are intended to help her find life after him, they take her to a series of locations and involve her whole family.
The story is soppy but is more sad than girly meaning macho males can still stand it for more than 10 minutes! ... ...isn't always the case in this type of film.
The acting isn't too bad either. Swank and Butler both do their roles well but are by no means amazing. Lia Kudrow put in a good supporting roles but nothng else is worth noting bar a few cringe worthy irish accents!
There isn't that many decent songs or music in the movie apart from a reasonably funny karaoke scene! I would have liked a decent soundtrack as I find it can improve an average movie!
