I first heard about P.S. I Love You from a man I used to work with. He took his family to see the film and admitted that he did in fact shed a few tears. He recommended it to me and I didn't actually get to see it until this week. I did however buy and read the book before now. I have nothing against 'chick flicks' as they are the films normal girls like, just as action movies are for normal boys, 'PS I Love You' the big word-of-mouth movie on opinion sites in 2008 and so at least worth a look. I'm not a huge fan of love stories so was a little reluctant to see this (I wanted to see Gerard Butler in a completely different role to the one he played in 300). I was pleasantly surprised by this film which has been adapted from the best selling book. Fantastic stoyline with superb performaces by the leading actors - not forgetting the brilliantly played supporting roles by Harry Connick Jnr, Kathy Bates & the Irish bloke who plays William! ...

This movie follows Hillary Swank as she tries to deal with the untimely death of her husband. Before he died her husband, played by Gerard Butler, set up a series of letters to be delivered to his wife after his death. The letters are intended to help her find life after him, they take her to a series of locations and involve her whole family. The story is soppy but is more sad than girly meaning macho males can still stand it for more than 10 minutes! ...
...isn't always the case in this type of film. The acting isn't too bad either. Swank and Butler both do their roles well but are by no means amazing. Lia Kudrow put in a good supporting roles but nothng else is worth noting bar a few cringe worthy irish accents!
