Advantages: Reasonably funny Disadvantages: Rushed ending and quite predictable
...you watch a film, especially one in the romantic/ comedy genre, you get a distinct feeling that they are made following a predefined list of 'must haves' which unless strictly adhered to will spell doom for the film, a sort of painting by numbers approach to film making. As is the case with "One Fine Day" a film which is filled with these 'must haves' from attractive leads, to cute kids, button pushing scenes and most annoyingly a truly predictable ... ...over the period of just one day making the film feel snappy.
The main theme behind the film is nothing more than your predictable man meets woman, the initially detest each other but over time they realize that their initial misconceptions of who each other are dissolves to allow for a completely predictable yet unlikely romance. But whilst this may be the underlying theme most of the enjoyment comes from watching the slightly exaggerated issues ...

One Fine Day
Characters
Melanie Parker - Michelle Pfeiffer
Mel Parker and Jack Taylor and the two run-of-the-mill busy city folk. Mel is a single-parent and designer person at a company. She is a bit of a control freak, although she denies this on several occasions. She is having a 'perfectly bad day' (part of the tagline) until she meets Jack and her day is suddenly changed for the worse - then off course, the better. Michelle Pfeiffer plays ... ...two people and their ex-partners. One is Mrs. Sensible, the other is Mr. Haven’t got a care in the world. One is rushing her son to the school field trip on a boat; the other is looking for the school. After a while of running around some crowded streets, Mel blames Jack for the two children missing the trip.
They arrange to mind each other's kids after a brief stay at a day care centre where the children are offered LSD. Mel goes and gets ...

...struggle with their work. Each one of them flirting desperately with each other, but neither one actually liking the other. Can a proper relationship work, if two people have such different personalities?
Will the two stay together? What will happen to Maggie and Sam? Will each one of them keep their jobs? One Fine Day is wonderful to look at. For production values it is miles ahead of other entries in the rom com genre. It manages to make New York ... ...everywhere they possible can. Visually One Fine Day is colorful, stylish, interesting and has a wonderful sense of nostalgia.
Michelle Phieffer is a brilliant actress, and in One Fine Day, she proves why she is so highly regarded in the business of show. She plays her character with warmth; charisma and grace, without making Melanie lose any of her sharp business sense, ruthless determination, or wild feminist edge. She really embodies the character ...

Advantages: fun romantic comedy, George Clooney Disadvantages: none
...watch' pile but settled on One Fine Day starring two of my favourites - George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. It was a very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. The film was made quite a while ago in 1996 and is about two single parents whose lives cross one day. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Melanie Parker whose son Sammy goes to school with Maggie. Maggie's mum has just got married so she is having to spend the week with her dad Jack Taylor (George ... ...If you add to this one child who has a penchant for sticking objects up his nose and another who has a tendency to wonder off, it's no surprise that a chaotic day ensues! Also, with the grownups openly hostile but secretly quite liking each other, you have all the ingredients for a good romantic comedy. The only questions are - will they get through the day, still have jobs in the morning and maybe even start getting on a little better? You'll have ...

...in the rain with the One Fine Day music playing. The camera focuses on an apartment building, looking through several windows at different people. Eventually it reaches and enters the apartment of Melanie and Sammy. Melanie (Michelle Pfeiffer) is a very busy single mother who we see munching on a snack whilst she writes out checks to pay the bills. She makes Sammy's lunch for school, then goes to kiss her cute little son goodnight before retiring ... ...and a sensible but busy one who could do with chilling out.

Advantages: Makes you not want children Disadvantages: Is generally pretty dire
...nothing to do except watch one of my mother's videos and this looked like the most promising of a bad lot. Also, it had Michelle Pfeiffer in it, an actress I usually have a lot of time for. Well, it whiled away a couple of hours while I generally lazed around the house. It also ticked off another film that I thankfully won't have to watch again - I hope it will also help a few of you to avoid it. Melanie Parker is a single mother with a good career ... ...Jack slowly become attracted to one another. Will they end up together? Or will they both end up lonely and career-less?
This is one of those films where everything goes terribly terribly wrong before turning out to be quite all right after all. I don't suppose realism was the first concern of the directors or producers, but having everything go wrong in such a small space of time just got on my nerves. Plus, what was going to happen was obvious ...

Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney play divorced career-driven single parents, Melanie and Jack, who are forced to share the task of looking after her son and his daughter when they miss their school trip. The day begins with Melanie and Jack taking an instant dislike to each other but the attraction between them is obvious from the start. For me, the funniest moment of the film was when Jack goes to see his therapist and finds himself referring ...
