Advantages: hilarious, Tomei and Pesci Disadvantages: extraneous plot twist
Just looking at Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci in 'My Cousin Vinny' (1992) makes me laugh. And when they speak, I laugh harder. This film is definitely one of the funniest produced in the past fifteen years.
Stan and Billy, on a road trip in Alabama, are stopped by the police after buying groceries at a roadside shop. The paranoid recent university graduates speculate that people are executed for minor infractions in that area. Alabama is notorious ... ...blokes (Ralph Macchio) has forgotten to pay for a can of tuna fish and thinks that they are being arrested for that.
When they are brought to jail, it turns out that they have been arrested for a much more serious crime--murder!
To save their lives, they need to find a good lawyer, so they call home. Billy's mother presents the boys with 'great news': cousin Vinny is a lawyer, so he'll head down to Alabama to represent them. Unfortunately for Billy ...

Advantages: its funny all round Disadvantages: there was never a sequel
...the rather darker Goodfellas. In My Cousin Vinny however, he takes another step up the ladder of comedy fame with a superb performance as Vincent Gambini, a lawyer who has finally passed his Bar exams after six years of attempts.
A road trip for his young cousin and a friend turns disastrous when they are falsely accused of murder in a Southern State and face the electric chair. Comic mix-ups mean they think the initial share is just one of shoplifting, ... ...Marisa Tomei is superb as a foil to Pesci, playing his long-suffering girlfriend, whose “biological clock is ticking”. While Fred “Herman Munster” Gwynne puts in one of his best performances of his long career too.
Plenty of gaffs, laughs and thought-provoking moments. A film you can watch over and over again. ...
