Advantages: Very Funny without over the top attempts at humour Disadvantages: Over too soon
...this film twice, once with my husband who laughed out loud throughout the movie and the second time with my mum - she loved it. There are so many characters in the movie that you can focus on and look forward to. I found the first time Mr"orange" was so funny however the next time I watched the movie, I found the granny was quite a character.
This is one of those movies that can be watched over and over again as the humour does not wear thin and ...

Advantages: promo clips were funny Disadvantages: most of the funny parts were in the promo clips
This film was obviously based on the old boy meets girl, her family doesn't approve story line with a cultural comedy twist rather than the usual "wrong side of the tracks" serious angle that some previous films have taken. After seeing the "coming to a cinema near you" promo clip at the start of another movie at the cinema and as an ad on the TV, I got quite enthusiatic about seeing this one. Unfortunately, the promo clips seemed to include most ...

Advantages: This film will make you wake up the next morning with a smile Disadvantages: It plays on steryotypes
...and he won't be bored! My BIG,FAT, GREEK WEDDING is quirky, cute and funny. It plays on all the Greek family stereotypes but if you come from any large family, particularly of an ethnic group you will recognise many characteristics and probably laugh even more! Although it is actually very funny and light hearted it does have a deeper side to it. The film deals with attitudes towards tradition, religion and change. It demonstrates beautifully the ...

Advantages: hilairous Disadvantages: some aggresion
To say this film is funny is a big understatement. The story line is 100 per cent totally believable. The actors play very real roles and the expressions on the faces and antics of the family are something else. I found myself rolling in the aisle with very sore stomach muscles due to the laughter that this film generated. From the poor downtrodden greek female to her finding her soul mate and getting married is one long saga of frantic, and at the ...

Advantages: A funny entertaining comedy Disadvantages: A bit of a chick flick
... and was expecting it to be another dull romantic comedy, but was pleasently surprised by it. Yes it is a chick flick definatly one for the ladies but saying that boyfriends/husbands that have been dragged along will not be dissapointed as it has some genuinly funny lines and moments. The story is an extremely simple one with very few twists or surprises along the way.
The actors however are first class which makes for better viewing.
All in ...

Advantages: Very funny film Disadvantages: Slow during the middle, and very predictable
The film starts of well and has many funny moments but it quickly began to confuse me as the main character suddenly changes without warning. The story line didn't seem to follow well during this point, but it quickly gets back on track. During the middle of the film the story line did begin to drag again, nothing exciting happened at all, but it does begin to pick up again, and the film does ends well. The film has little surprises you can guess ...

Advantages: Funny family film Disadvantages: predictable at times
My 13 year old daughter had seen the film and I'd read reviews and fancied seeing it so we hired it for a family evening in. Along with my husband and 11 year old son we watched and enjoyed the film. At times all 4 of us were laughing out loud!
It may not be the most exciting storyline ever( - Greek girl falls in love with non-greek guy - family disapprove - guy wins them over - big wedding - ) but the laughter along the way makes up for that.

Advantages: Funny and different, a good family laugh Disadvantages: Not as funny as ads may say
...however, i went along with my parents and found it to be a good laugh. If you have a close-knit family, then you will understand this film well, and there is a good laugh to be had by all the family. From old jokes to original ones, this film had it all, while still being one for all those romantics out there, and for all those women (and men!) who enjoy a good cry when watching a film. To sum up, the film was an affectionate and good-hearted movie ...

...and did spill some of my popcorn, and managed to squirt my soda out my nose, but the film was so funny it was worth it. of course, just like every film, this film had its bad bits, or the bits you could see that were meant to be funny and just werent, but in every other part of the film, you just cant help but laugh at the comedy of it all. thsi film should be given a big fat award for hilarity. go see it now ...

Chicago's "Second City" alumna Nia Vardalos has adapted her critically acclaimed, autobiographical, one-woman show into a human comedy that strikes a universal chord. As the story begins, Vardalos plays Toula, a frumpy 30 year-old virgin, working in her father's Greek restaurant. "You better get married soon," he says. "You're looking old." Since childhood, her parents (Michael Constantine, Lainie Kazan) have told her that Greek girls have just three ... ...feed everyone. But it's not that easy. Toula's a big, gawky Greek in a world of tiny, blond Barbies. Realizing she's stuck in a rut, Toula enrolls in a computer class at a nearby college. She also puts on some makeup, buys fashionable clothes, discovers contact lenses and lands a job in her aunt's travel agency. Meanwhile, she's caught the eye of a tall, handsome, WASP-y school teacher, Ian Miller (John Corbett of TV's "Sex and the City"). He's a ...
