Bohemian Paris

Advantages: Huge musical comedy, with interpretations of Ewan best McGregor and Nicole Kidman
Disadvantages: The principle is a little crazy and amazing, I did not like

...I am under the shock Moulin Rouge, I have still not recovered of this wonder musico-line of vision, still I am enamored with bohème Paris, so I will try to be most impartial possible. The musical comedy is boring and unbearable a sort very controverso, for many, a wonderful form of art artistic expression for others, but what yes it is, or it was, a tool of the most used by the world of the cinema, inherited of the theater, to tell fantastic histories ...
...for me. Now, with Moulin Rouge, this Australian genius gives a nut blow to its escentricismo and rescues the sort of the pure musical comedy turning it into, authentic, and spectacular bodevil of the Bohemian Paris of principles of the last century. From the previous presentation, with that drop curtain that discovers the conductor, until conclude the credit titles, this process of transformation is developed to the eyes of the spectator, with an ...

The cartoonified titles lead onto a black and white shot of a midget, dressed as a sitar, on a roof, singing a David Bowie song! This sets the tone for the whole piece - it is a visual and aural spectacle from star to finish. We meet Christian (McGregor), who we learn has moved from ...

Visually Stunning Masterpiece

Advantages: stunnig visuals and score
Disadvantages: none

Moulin Rouge is a veritable masterpiece of modern cinema, combining the old fashioned love story with dazzling modern visual effects and clever filming. It follows the fortunes of Christian, a young wannabe bohemian writer trying to make it in Paris during the turn of the century, who gets interrupted by a troupe of rehersing performers from Paris's seediest nightclub, the Moulin Rouge, subsequently getting pulled into this dark and flamboyant world ...
...siren Satine. During the opening credits, we get introduced to Paris through billowing luxurious curtains fronted by an ever frentic conductor building up the films music hall atmosphere, which is then kept going by strong performances throughout. Much of the film's electricity comes from the clever weaving of familiar modern ballads into an almost operatic score, playing off the audience's pop knowledge while telling the story, and the amazing ...

The next bit is a bit of a blur, because when I watch it, I just skip to the bit where he sings for the first time. The modern musical..

Advantages: A brilliant and inspired film
Disadvantages: Probably will not appeal to everyone

Moulin Rouge is a visual feast. And that's putting it mildly. It's an all out assault on your senses. The colours are loud and brash, and so is the sound. If you liked the style employed in the most recent version of Romeo and Juliet, you will also appreciate the direction and artistry used in Moulin Rouge. It's a love story. It's a musical. It's a comedy. It's a weepy. It will have you laughing, amazed, bewildered, and sad. It's a bitter sweet mix, ...
...Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, both pull off astounding and heartfelt performances. It would have been very easy for them to fall into the trap of hamming it up to the extreme, but they pull off wildness and subtley with equal ease. And then there's the singing. They don't sound like trained singers. And that's why they sound so great, and will probably impress you immensely. They sing as well as they act, and if this is the kind of standard that ...

...Broadbent (Zidler proprietor of the Moulin Rouge) to Richard Roxburgh (Duke of Worcester). Will love conker all or will money win out in the end. The story really is fairly incidental to the movie for this is an example of style and over-the-top spectacle rather than gripping storyline, for that this certainly is not. ...I am a bit of an Elton fan. The version of Roxanne is also top notch and very different. The acting although not exactly top notch (excluding Kidman who was fab) was more than up to the task with the notable exception of Roxburgh who was cardboard personified. One of those you love or hate

Advantages: Touching, Hilarious and Original for some
Disadvantages: Truly dreadful to others!

Moulin Rouge is probably the most hyped film currently released. It is VERY Baz Luhrman - eccentric, OTT but wildly original. The story, without giving too much away, involves a young British poet (Ewan Mcgregor) who goes to Paris at the turn of the last century to sample the "Bohemian Revolution" with Toulouse Lautrec and ends up falling in love with Satine (Nicole Kidman) - the most famous courtesan of the Moulin Rouge. The two meet up in a traditional ...

The two then have to quickly think on their feet and end up performing a play about their predicament - one that will save the Moulin Rouge and their love.....but of course things never turn out the way they should! The direction is superb. The film is in lush technicolor - a throwback to the glory days of the Hollywood musical and almost Bollywood-esque ...

Who knew Ewan could sing

Advantages: Funny and entertaining
Disadvantages: Not everyone's taste

I saw Moulin Rouge a couple of weeks ago whilst visiting a friend in New York. She had already seen it, but wanted to see it again as she enjoyed it so much. The film stars Nicole Kidman as the main singing girl in the Moulin Rouge nightclub. Ewan McGregor plays a strugging playwright who falls in love with her. As with all love stories, nothing is straight forward, and the main problem for these two is the 'Duke' who has stumped up a huge amount ...
...Nicole Kidman will be 'his' woman. I won't go any further as I don't want to spoil the plot. This is a musical, so if you are not into that sort of thing, don't bother. However, it is incredibly funny in places, and I found the use of modern songs in the old fashioned setting very clever. I was also amazed that both Ewan and Nicole are such great singers. I was so impressed I have bought the soundtrack. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, ...

Satine is dying of comsumption, but doesn't know it until the very end. So there's a love triangle, with great envey and jealousy between Christian and the Duke. Spectacular Spectacular

Advantages: Great songs, brilliantly acted
Disadvantages: Ending is sort of obvious

Moulin Rouge is, in my opinion, a fantastic film! It's acted perfectly, sung brilliantly, and is just great! The story is either quite complicated or I wasn't paying attention (probably the latter option). It's about Christian (Ewan McGregor), a young British writer who goes to Paris in 1899. When an unconscious Argentinian falls through his roof he meets some actors and becomes part of a show called Spectacular Spectacular. But he and his actor ...
...actress who works at the Moulin Rouge, a sort of Parisian nightclub. Christian gets a meeting with Satine to discuss the show, but she mistakes him for the Duke, who is going to make her a star. But it's too late - Satine and Christian are in love. But the Duke's offer is too good for Satine to resist, and too much for Christian to cope with... I have a new found respect for Ewen McGregor and Nicole Kidman after seeing this film! I mean, I knew ...
