Advantages: The first 4 (and arguably best out of the 6) seasons in one place. Disadvantages: Check sub-title availability. Could have done with more interviews.
Monk is a popular, funny and moving US detective series starring Tony Shalhoub (Wings, Paulie, Galaxy Quest, Men in Black) as character Adrian Monk, set in San Francisco and currently filming it's seventh season. It is based on a former detective who was released on discharge from the police force due to mental upset and is now a private investigator but hopes one day to be reinstated. Even though Adrian has always been plagued by phobias and compulsions, ... ...well worth the money.
Monk is a character focused Detective series rather than a Mystery series where the focus is more on the crime and it's unravelling whereby the detective(s) is a guide for the reader/watcher rather than a super sleuth with clues and parts of the story you could never guess. Monk is a super sleuth but unlike some stories and series there is no needless twisting and further twisting of the plot so that you couldn't guess or estimate ...

Advantages: Funny, good actors Disadvantages: Storylines are sometimes a bit far fetched
...detective working for the Captain. Monk now has to have an assistant with a constant supply of wipes for Adrian whenever he touches anything.
Tony Shalhoub plays the part of this strange man very well bringing in his sad disease to create a great comical effect. With Monks phobias of over 100 things including glaciers and milk this series is incredibly funny and a good change to your average midsommer murders or Touch of Frost.
This is not a cheesey ... ...of killers. Polititian or tramp Monk is not worried about class or even if the person who he believes is the murderer has a bulletproof alibi if Monk believes that person is the killer he will proove it.
All of the actors play their parts well and are great at their roles, there aren't many special effects used in the series and there doesn't need to be any for this great series.
I highly recommend you buy this set of dvds if you haven't watched ...
