As luck would have the military are not too pleased with this and the animosity between scientist and military shows through. This only gets worse when Dr Bradley works out that there is not enough power in the platform's nuclear missiles to destroy the meteor and he suggests that the US contacts Russia so their platform called " Peter The Great" can also be used.
