In the Farrelly Brothers' ME, MYSELF & IRENE, Jim Carrey plays Charlie Baileygates, a Rhode Island State Trooper who develops a split personality disorder after his wife leaves him...
more...for an African-American midget genius. Due to years of denial and repression while raising triplet sons left behind by his wife and her lover, Charlie finally gets fed up with people taking advantage of his meek nature and snaps, taking on a lewd, aggressive second personality named Hank. Soon afterwards, Charlie is assigned by the police department to protect a woman named Irene (Renee Zellweger), who's being followed by some shady characters that want her dead. As the pair attempt to outwit their pursuers, the kind-hearted Charlie begins to fall for Irene, while battling his sleazy alter ego, Hank.
Back in full comedy mode after his more dramatic roles in THE TRUMAN SHOW and MAN ON THE MOON, Carrey once again displays his outlandish brand of physical humor. As with any Farrelly Brothers film, there are plenty of grossly funny yet good-natured moments. (In fact, Charlie's loving relationship with his three brilliant half-African-American sons is one of the film's best and funniest subplots.) Above all, it is the way that Carrey juggles the extreme personalities of Charlie and Hank--basically waging war against himself--that proves why he is one of Hollywood's best comedic actors.

This One's For The Road
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by Ayesha-

Advantages: Hysterical
Disadvantages: A bit rude

I have talked about mental health issues before when reviewing films, as some of you will know. I feel that such problems should be taken seriously. Whatever the cause, they can isolate people, they can make life very difficult & they affect a huge number of people across the globe. It can be very hard to accept you have a problem, come to terms with it, learn to cope & ever completely recover. Somehow, some people do recover. In fact, for Charlie, ... Read review

Someone Carrey me home
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by BennyRialto

Advantages: Zellwenger is excellent...
Disadvantages: ... the script is not

Stand by for a real Hollywood shock: sorry to spoil it but here we have a film where Jim Carrey stars as a bit of a fruitcake who makes a lot of silly faces and talks in a variety of stupid (and for the most part very annoying) voices. Sure, it gets the odd laugh but, if it's Shrove tuesday and you've already had sixteen pancakes, you don't go eat another one. A terrible metaphor I know, but I never was good at writing intros to movie reviews. Not ... Read review

Starring Jim Carrey, what more can I say
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Funny in places, starring Jim Carrey (and Renee Zellweger)
Disadvantages: Not everyone's 'cup of tea'

Yes! That’s right! I’m here writing an opinion about a film that hasn’t been shown on TV yet (not to my knowledge anyway)! * This review will give away much of the plot and the end of the film so please do not read if you do not want to know this information. Do not read the bits in between the = lines. * ~ Starring ~ Jim Carrey (as Chalie/Hank), Renee Zellweger (as Irene), Anthony Anderson (as Jamaal), Jerod ... Read review

Hank and Charlie and Jim and Good Cop Bad Cop
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by dave27

Advantages: Zellweger
Disadvantages: Carrey

One night on from writing about Jim Carrey's online presence, and it's time to do the same for one of the grating man's movies. This time Carrey plays a manic loner with a problem who comes through in the end (how unusual!) Starring alongside Renee Zellweger, Carrey plays a schizophrenic police officer whose darker side comes to the fore when he journeys across the States with Zellweger in tow but without his handy little pills available to him. After ... Read review

Stay away if easily offended
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by slinkysteve

Advantages: Very funny, Jim Carey is excellent
Disadvantages: Could offend a lot of people

Who else would incorporate a dead cow, a very angry midget, plenty of "gross-out" humour and a loveable cast but the Farley brothers. When this was released many people panned it say "It's racist, sexist, homophobic and any other word ending in -ist or -phobic. I couldn't really see what they were talking about though when I saw it. The story concerns a man called Charlie ( Jim Carey ). He's charming, witty, strong. in love and soon to be wed. ... Excellent Entertainment
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by sarah.shipley

Advantages: Very Funny
Disadvantages: abit crude

This is without a doubt Jim Carrey's best film yet, it is absolutely hilarious and I could not stop laughing from start to finish. It is even better than Dumb and Dumber. Jim Carrey plays Charlie Baileygates, a police officer for the Rhode Island Force. It all starts when Charlie is 17 years old, he is a kind hearted sort of bloke that takes so much c**p of everybody else and doesn't realise that everyone around him is either ignoring him or taking ... one film too far
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by utero

Advantages: decent extras
Disadvantages: lame plot, not that funny

The Farrelly Brothers have established themselves as the kings of the gross out comedy which peaked with Theres Something About Mary. I actually found Kingpin amusin as well but I'm not a fan of Dumb and Dumber and this is the film where Carrey is re-united with his directors. Me Myself & Irene is a film made for those people who say "wow did you see the cars in Gone in 60 seconds-they were really cool!". I would go on and explain the plot to ... Read review

More of Carreys face contortions
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by ANWENM

Advantages: Jim Carreys acting
Disadvantages: none

NOT FOR THE EASILY OFFENDED !!It's an ideal video to sit in with on a Saturday night and I do enjoy Jim Carreys films but I must admit this isn’t one of the best. As usual he plays an excellent part and there are lots of laughs but I could quite imagine that it may offend some people. Jim Carrey plays a guy called Charlie who is a Rhode Island state trooper, the story starts where he gets married to his teenage love and then on his way ... Read review

SICK! SICK! SICK!
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by wampyrii

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: sick, unfunny, perverse, etc. etc.

The Farrelly Brothers seem to be stuck in a rut of releasing movies which try to outdo each previous offering on shock factor. 'There's Something About Mary' which shocked everyone with its penis-caught-in-a-zipper and sperm-hanging-from-the-ear gags now seems pretty tame when compare to their other more recent offering 'Scary Movie'. This their latest release again tries to outdo both these previous offerings but does little but offend common taste ... Read review

Good film to watch
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by WAD1-2-3

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

Nothing on the TV and you’re quit bored, you have a couple of friends aroound and decide to watch a comedy then you come across ‘Me Myself and Irene’ it could be good. The box cover doesn’t look to clever (Jim Carey pulling face) but you decide to watch it anyway. Well, that’s the scene set and I actually think this is quite a good comedy. At times however, you do feel like your watching a very childish film, Jim ... Read review

Sick, Stupid....Sensational !
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by Ryan-Simpson

Advantages: Great acting, plot , dialogue...
Disadvantages: soundtrack's very brief ...bit more music !

Most of us by now would know what to expect from a Farrely brothers film - it must affend at least one and usually quite a few sections of the population, but its done with such humour and class that its hard to see why anyone would gte upset. Carrey carries off his role with ease, and its hard to think of another actor who could play this part with anywhere near as much comedy. The plot and events that unfold always keep you entertained and the dialogue ... Read review

same old crudeness
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by juliebushnell

Advantages: not many
Disadvantages: too crude for my liking!!

In reality, this should be a magic formula, one which reunites Carrey with his Dumb And Dumber (1994) brethren, sits back and watches the coffers swell. And indeed, for the first 20 minutes or so you get everything you’ve paid for, as hapless Carrey’s life crumbles about his ears, his wife fathering black triplets as a result of her affair with a midget chauffeur, the locals treating him as a laughing stock, and little girls squealing expletives at ... A midget chauffeur brings the married couple back from the Wedding, and ends up arguing with Charlie, his wife takes sympathy on him and finds out that he is doing the job as a social experiment and has an extremely high IQ. in one word - average
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by Unabomber

Advantages: Very funny in places
Disadvantages: Not great if you have a short attention span

I went to watch this film with high expectations - maybe that was my problem. The film was given a lot of media coverage, and their was a a lot of talk about this film. I was, however, very disapointed after watching this film. The plot itself was not exactly amazing - a cop with split personality who is trying to help a young woman who is on the run from the law. Even the though the plot is weak, Jim Carreys performance is Oscar worthy, and in ... Read review

Its NOT "Something About Mary"
Review of Me, Myself And Irene (Wide Screen) by Spaz

Advantages: Over the top funny
Disadvantages: Over the top funny

Me, Myself, and Irene is the newest in line from the Farely brothers, people going in thinking they are gonna see "Something about Mary 2" may be dissapointed, the humor is a little over the top at times. It has moments of comedic brilliance none the less. If you don't mind a little raunchy humor, then deffinately check it out. Jim Carrey is awesome at this, he works great with the Farely style of comedy (noted in Dumb and Dumber.) I laughed just ... Read review
