Madagascar is one of those family animated films with lots of animals which you expect to be a let-down. This was NOT a let-down! The plot was very funny and there were some funny jokes in it as well for the whole family. The animation is very good and how often do you see animals escape from places like New York City, get on a boat and they fight in crates. Then they land on Madagascar! That must have had a LOT of thought going into this movie! ...

Um sich bemerkbar zu machen, steigt die Nilpferddame Gloria auf den Kopf der Giraffe Melman - der zusammengeknickte Hals und die lustigen Wackelbewegungen sind schon ganz originell. Solche kleinen Gags finden sich durch die Bank weg im gesamten Film. Einige sind zwar ein wenig versteckter, aber dennoch ist und bleibt der Film ein recht amüsanter Streifen. Ideal, wenn ihr entweder gerade erst sechs ...

This movie was full of good acting, but a poor story line - some more creativity could have been used in terms of when they got to the island of Madagascar; there was too little of the penguins - they were more entertaining than the rest of the cast. The story is very simple: take 4 New York City Zoo animals and throw them into the wild - and all of them are natural enemies in the wild - the lion (Alex) naturally preys on zebras, such as Marty, ...
...like Gloria (I stand to be corrected on that last one). However, as much as everyone likes their artificial habitat, Marty wants to go to wild - after running away from the zoo, Marty's friends come to save him and are then penalised by being sent back to the wild, but because of the penguins trying to get to Antartica, Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman's crates all fall overboard and they land up on Madagascar.
