...before I decided to watch Lost In Austen. What drew me towards this fantastic drama was its interesting 'Life on Mars' sort of spin on the tale. Amanda Price finds the world of the past, fictional world of Jane Austen's novel through a door after Elizabeth Bennett appears in her bathroom. However, once she walks through it, the door closes shut and she has suddenly swapped worlds with Elizabeth, seemingly unable to go back. She soon realises that ... ...her favourite novel, but what will happen now Elizabeth is away? What is incredible is that I found the story incredibly easy to follow despite having hardly any knowledge of the novel. Amanda often reminds the audience of what should be happening in a way that I am sure would not annoy someone who knows this already, and it is very easy to understand how wrong everything seems to be going. Advantages: great characters and twists to the story of P&P Disadvantages: Darcys rapid speeding up of nods

Lost in Austen has a funny streak which I was not expecting to see. The fact that we see Darcy in the modern day world with his usual clothing and top hat and then riding on a bus is something which I would love to see happen in real life. ...

Advantages: darcy in a wet shirt, good cast, unpredictable plot at times. Disadvantages: none!
'Lost in Austen' is one of those television gems which rarely crop up on ITV. It has a BBC costume drama feel but with a modern twist which will leave you hooked after the first ten minutes. Even my friend who is not an Austen fan loved this dvd. Which brings me to my next point. You don't need to know the plot of Pride & Prejudice' to appreciate the story fully. Of course there are plenty of neat little Austen references which will make the book ...
