Lethal Weapon 2

Advantages: more great action/comedy from the dangerous duo
Disadvantages: none

...minute sequel to the popular Lethal Weapon movie hoped to be as good as its predecessor. **BRIEF PLOT** When officer Martin Riggs, (played by Mel Gibson), and officer Roger Murtaugh, (played by Danny Glover) come across a car boot full of Kruger ands (African gold coins) they soon realise that there is more to the bounty than first thought… Meanwhile, the pair are assigned to protect Leo Getz, (played by Joe Pesci) who is a witness for the prosecution, ...
...comedy side than the first Lethal weapon, with many hilarious scenes, especially a rather bizarre scene in Murtaughs bathroom, involving a toilet, sandbags and a very robust iron bath..??? The storyline is easy to follow, making it a very enjoyable watch indeed, and the action/stunts are brilliantly placed within the movie, creating nearly two hours of complete fun and some edge of your seat action… And with the writers bringing in a little of ...

Diplomatic Immunity!

Advantages: Great sequel
Disadvantages: Not as good as the first film

...foreign theme here, as the Lethal Weapon series takes its second film into a South African laden plot once again involving drugs. The franchise waited a mere two years before making the sequel to the immensely successful Lethal Weapon in 1987, and this 1989 film was also popular, and featured the introduction of a new character in the form of Leo Getz, played by Joe Pesci. The Plot Riggs and Murtaugh are chalk and cheese. The detective coupling ...
...come close to the original Lethal Weapon film in 1987. The Apartheid conflict is briefly touched on here, and there are some dodgy South African accents on show. The script was penned by the same man who wrote the original film, Shane Black, and originally it was more vicious, but it was decided this was too much. Pesci outperforms most of the time, but the stars of the show are once again Gibson and Glover, as you would expect. The volatile and ...

Whatever you need... Leo Getz, you get it?

Advantages: Breaks that 'good original, poor sequel' routine
Disadvantages: Leo Getzs is funny but can be annoying too

Lethal Weapon 2 brings back the successful comic duo Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in another side splitting adventure directed by Richard Donner (the other Lethal Weaon movies) and prodeuced by Joel Silver ("The Matrix") Sergeant Murtaugh (Glover - "Predator 2", "The Colour Purple") is still the family man and Sergeant Riggs (Gibson - "Signs", "We Were Soldiers) is still the thrill seeker, loose cannon. The story is set around a group of South African ...
...you think is the best Lethal Weapon, you can leave messages in my GB). I recommend this film, especially if you are a fan of the series (I am), if not you should give it a try, you'll probably like it. Be sure to look out for the special director's Cut out on DVD for a very cheap price (£12.99 I think) as this version contains an extra four minutes of otherwise deleted footage. This film is police procedure, lethal style! A very enjoyable action/comedy ...

More High-Octane Thrills and Spills

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...than playing on past glories, Lethal Weapon 2 could easily stand alone as an original movie in its own right and that is very much in its favour. The rough edges which could arguably be said to be seen in the original are smoothed out by the inclusion of Boam on the team and the addition of the additional character played by Pesci simply add a deeper dimension to the proceedings. This movie is perhaps not quite so high paced as the original and does ...
...who cares about that? This is an action movie after all, perfect for a little bit of Friday evening no-braining in front of the television and should be judged on those merits rather than anything else. It begins with Riggs and Murtaugh in high-speed pursuit of a red BMW through the streets of LA. The chase is fast and furious and results in the kind of mayhem and destruction which we have come to associate the pair with from the original movie, ...
