Legally Blonde 2. (2003.)
Running Time: 1 Hour 31 Minutes.
Directed By: Charles Herman-Wurmfeld.
Cert: PG. (Parental Guidance.)
Please note I'm reviewing the VHS version of this movie, so there's nothing included on the special features of the DVD version, although I do know that the DVD includes audio commentary by the cast, deleted scenes, the music video for We Can by LeAnn Rimes, a "Welcome to Delta Nu" interactive quiz, a "Blonde Ambition" ... ...not-as-successful follow up to 2001's Legally Blonde, Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is back and this time she's fighting against animal testing in the cosmetics industry. Determined to send her little chihuahua Bruiser's mom an invite to she and Emmett's wedding, Elle discovers that Bruiser's mom is a test subject in a cosmetics lab. Horrified, Elle takes the case to the senior partners of the law firm she now works at, where, predictably, she gets ...

...failures. The first addition of Legally Blonde was brilliant and I absolutely loved it but was my feelings of this one to be the same? I was staying overnight at a friends and we had decided we would go out the next day but we had no idea where. We had seen pretty much everything that was out to see at the pictures, we didn’t fancy ice-skating and the boys didn’t weren’t too keen on shopping. It was then that I remembered. August 1st was the release ... ...to see this and so were the boys after a few stretches of the truth! (Boys are so gullible I mean come on what are the chances of Reese Witherspoon getting naked in a PG)
I had read a few reviews of this which were all good and judging from the trailers it looked really good and if the quality of the first instalment was anything to go by then this would be a kick ass film. After about 20 minutes of worthless adverts, eating (and throwing) popcorn ...

...in the first of the Legally Blonde films was the best move Elle could have ever made.
The soriety sister’s wedding plans are cruising along nicely as she spends her days pondering pink seating plans and cultivating the all important guest list. There’s just one problem. She still hasn’t managed to track one potential guest down and, as of course we all know, it’s common etiquette to RSVP at least six weeks before a wedding ... ...planned wedding to Emmett?
Legally Blonde 2 is not a film meant to be taken seriously. Following on in the same vein as the first movie it’s a tongue in cheek, light - hearted celebration of all things pink that verges on the unbelievable and is, at times, nothing but silly. However, Reese Witherspoon positively shines in her role as "Capital Barbie" Elle making the few really funny scenes in this movie truly memorable. For not all of the ...

Legally Blonde 2: Bigger, Bolder, Blonder
To give it it's UK subtitle. It's as though we in the UK cannot understand the reference Red, White and Blonde, which is the US subtitle.
With sequels there are two schools of thought - either you really try to make the next movie different and try to take the characters in whole new directions, or you just rest on your laurels. With Legally Blonde 2, it's very much in the latter ... ...she was in the first Legally Blonde, but due to over familiarisation with the character you find that you don't warm to her as much. Elle doesn't seem to have much chance to grow as a character and as such comes across as a bit one dimensional. It isn't Ms Witherspoon's fault, as we have witnessed her fantastic performances in other movies, such as Election, one of my favourite films.
Luke Wilson's character of Emmett the fiancé is only there as ...

Th mediocre story is by Eve Ehlert, Dennis Drake, and Kate Kondell, with the latter also writing the screenplay. Legally Blonde was one of my favourite films when it first came out. It was funny, heartwarming, inspirational. I thought it was perfect as just the one film. When Legally Blonde 2 came out I personally didn't think that it would be any good. I therefore never had any urge to watch it. That was until it was advertised this week on the TV. So was it any good? Or just another rubbish sequel..

Legally Blonde 2 is the second film that has been based on the novel Legally Blonde written by Amanda Brown. Advantages: fun to watch without having to think too much Disadvantages: a bit too 'bubbly' in places
Could anything be more lighter-than-air than the first "Blonde"? More improbable in terms of plot, pacing and pooch couture. Well, yes!.
It only lasts a mere 94 minutes, but in my opinion "Legally Blonde 2" is fast & too furiously packed with "Omigod, I can't believe she just said that [and that I laughed]"-type lines to do anything but sit back and enjoy it.
There are occasional misfires, a rather strange rap sequence with Congressional interns ... ...big summer movies,” Blonde 2" is fun. If not quite as "superfun!" (quote Elle) as its predecessor, it's only because again it is a ‘been there done that’ kind of film.
This time around, Elle's swimming with the sharks in Washington D.C., although - always the girly optimist - she has no idea how nasty things will get when she pops in for her first day of work at Congresswoman Rudd's (Sally Field) office.
“Oh my God," one Rudd staffer snarls. "It's ...

To tell the truth I was a bit disappointed with this film, I had seen Legal Blonde and thought it was fab and was sure I was going to enjoy the sequel, however I felt that they did not put as much in to this one and in a way were cashing in on its previous success. ...when you go to see Legally Blonde 2? Rent the first film and you've got the idea! Legally Blonde 2 is a fun, feel good film, and nothing more, but that's not a bad thing! The film opens with a rather cheesey scene, where Elle's (Reese Witherspoon) friends flip through a scrapbook, which basically shows us what happened in the first Legally Blonde, and what has happened since.
