Lara Croft as we all know is the heroine from the Tomb Raider Playstation Games.
When my younger brother got a PSX a good few year ago now, he introduced me to the high leaping, gun toting, long haired beauty and taught me how to play. I became so addicted that, well, the very next day, I bought my very own PSX and Tomb Raider I & II.
Then came The last Revelation and again, Switch Card at the ready I was there. When I met my Partner I introduced ... ...huge Angelina Jolie in full Lara Regalia (or lack of it) pouty lips and legs that could crack walnut?s between her thighs.
Yet somehow, I was a little perturbed about Lara on the big screen. I was used to having her every move at my fingertips, if she was shot at, fell until her legs crumpled over her head and she said ?Ugh? or ?Ouch? as Dobermans chewed on her leg, that was my fault. I had control. Surely if she was on the screen, I would have ...

Advantages: Jolie is captivating as the sexy Lara Croft, and the action sequences are something for the producer's to be proud of. Disadvantages: The story lacks structure and interest. Why couldn't they find a plot? Why couldn't they have made this film more accessible to other film goers and not just adolescent playstation fans.
...said, Jolie is excellent as Lara Croft and the action sequences are amomngst some of the best in recent years. However the story is a major let down. Only Hollywood could be stupid enough to take a guarnteed success movie and turn it into a disapointment. The sub-plot of Croft's missing father is misleading and disapointing (what is the point in making us think that he may be still alive, if only to........)? Other criticisms are that Chris barrie ... ...up in the facade that Lara Croft is a sex godess. Anyone else should really stay away from a film that is overlong, poorly strucutured and quite frankly, awaste of cinema goers money. Some of you on this website may disagree with my opinion on this film, but i must add that I see every film that is released in the cinema, and this is by far the most disappointing this year. ...and an ice cool heroine, Lara Croft.
Angelina Jolie landed the role as Croft, after much speculation among the fan boys, dweebs and net pervs. She looks the part, and mastered a passable posh English accent. Interest in seeing Jolie jiggle around in tight shorts and tight shirt was always going to be high. A friend who works at the local UGC cinema reckons she's never served so many lone middle-aged males buying tickets to see a kid's movie!
But ... ...Mr Brittas as Croft's butler, Lara is embroiled in a nonsensical plot involving the search for two halves of a triangle thingy. When the two halves are brought together, they give the power of time travel. And the planets are about to line up. Or something. Who cares?
Opposing her is Iain Glen's bad guy. All he has to do is make shapes with his 'Bert from Sesame Street' eyebrows and wear nice suits. He's possibly the most bland movie villain to ...

...of the rehashes...I mean series. Lara Croft's character put me off a bit too. She strikes me as a stuck up self loving cow (who has a boob job before every game).
This film, it has to be said, beats the games hands down. However, that's not saying much.
I went to see it, expecting plenty of action and special effects. Action there was, but to be honest, it's nothing more spectacular than a typical James Bond/Indiana Jones movie. Highlights include ... ...As I said before, Lara Croft is in love with herself. This is proved constantly throughout the film. Watch as she walks towards the camera, shoulders back, a "Damn I'm cool" frown on her face, the intense soundtrack banging in the background. I'm surprised Angelina could get through any doors with the size her head must have been. Of course, she loved being Lara Croft, probably as much as Lara Croft herself does. Though who can blame her? ...with its star and heroine, Lara Croft have been adapted nicely to the big screen. Angelina Jolie plays the sexy treasure stealer in what will more then likely be this summers biggest film. So how does Lara get involved in this plot to find the tools to rule the world? Her dead father who was an archaeologist possessed one of the pieces, and left instructions for Lara to gather the other pieces to prevent the wrong people from getting hold of them. The films main subplot revolves around Lara's desire to see her father again. She feels his death has resulted in time being stolen from them both, and the villains will be sure ...

She obviously worked hard to try and perfect the part and during the film she does most of her own stunts, something other action actors and actresses should take note of. Lara (Angelina Jolie) comes across a mystical artefact that is very strange – it appears to be some kind of clock that instead of counting up, it is counting down, and it is starting to glow. The plot isn’t really important in these films; it’s just an excuse for driving around at speed and blowing things up. Angelina Jolie plays Lara Croft, the Tomb Raider of the title. She has all the attributes of the games heroine, including large breasts, pouty lips and a long pig-tail. She is assisted in her quest by her butler (played by Chris Barrie, but without the bloody annoying nasal twang, that seems to infect his characters) and a computer nerd whose name I forget.
As is the wont for these sort of films, the whole world is at risk. A secret society ... ...bad guys want it, and Lara wants it (for personal reasons) which sets the scene for lots of action. Guns blasting and bullets screaming sort of stuff, as well as some pretty good motorcycle stunts. The whole movie is one long action blast, with just a few moments respite.

Much of what was said revolved around the potential for the talented Jolie to lift Tomb Raider above the lowly status of previous computer game-to-movie transformations (Wing Commander being perhaps the best example of these failures). Well, what were you expecting? Tomb Raider was a once brilliant and now somewhat tired video game franchise. ...Raider series, and its star Lara Croft. No doubt most will have played the computer game, and will wonder what the film is like. So here it is.. I don't know if the film is based on the computer game, as I absolutely hated the game, and sold it within a few weeks of buying it. Lara encounters a few enemies in her quest to the opposite ends of the earth, to retrieve the triangles, and the film has some recognisable scenes from the computer game. Lara herself is filthy rich in the film, and has a vast array of weaponry, fast cars and a very large house. This paves the way for an exciting and fast film, with many lively scenes. So there's the plot (yes, that's the plot!) So here's what I think of ...
