...game series, featuring pneumatic cyber-babe Lara Croft. Having never played any of the games, I can’t comment on their plots, but, as far as I can tell, it involves and improbably-proportioned woman running, jumping and shooting her way around various ancient tombs and temples. Obviously, the film version wasn’t going to be Hamlet.
What we have instead is a decent action movie with a rather pretty protagonist (the wonderful Angelina ... ...the ability to control time. Advantages: Great action film Disadvantages: Script is a little weak
...Obviously, many will say that Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) provides a performance that will please any man, and her great English accent deserves a mention, but the desperately predictable and dry script does her no justice.
However, please note that Lara's Assistant, played by Chris Barrie (Rimmer from Red Dwarf), also deserves a mention for his great performance.
Yes, this is a very predictable film, but nevertheless, if you like sheer action, ...

More sexual tension - they started but it never really got sparks flying. Some more subplot, any subplot. An extra half an hour of film to slow down the search ...

...really enjoyed that apple"?
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider has several pips.
The computer game to movie genre is like bobbing for apples: rarely successful and a bit frustrating. But with the occasional promise of appley goodness... I'm dropping the apple metaphor before I make a joke about Core Design* - oh, too late.
Without going into mentions of all the other unsuccessful genre attempts , let's just look at this one.

One day, little Lara (having lived in this big mansion all her life, remember) hears a tick-tocking clock, smashes down a wall and finds a mysterious artifact belonging to her dead father, who is enjoying a beyond-the-grave relationship with Lara. The object is linked to a group of nasty important men (you can tell they're important because they sit on chairs in a row), who want to control time. Lara wants to see her dad (Jon Voight) again.
