In navigating the labyrinth, Sarah comes across all kinds of bizarre traps and bizarre creatures, courtesy of Jim Henson. Among those she meets are Hoggle, a small and particularly unattractive dwarf, who becomes her friend and helps her on her search for the goblin castle, but not without incidents of treachery and deceit. The labyrinth itself is fairly well animated, but again, you can sometimes see just how fake it is, such as when looking out to the castle from the middle of the labyrinth. Labyrinth is a pretty weird film - it's a fairy tale, which is probably aimed at the family market, but it's rather scary for the very young, so it's a little difficult to know exactly who the intended audience are. Starring David Bowie as the Goblin King (echoes of his 70's past, perhaps?), it tells the tale of a teenage girl who is baby sitting for her little brother and is so exasperated by his behaviour that she wishes that he would be taken ...

Labyrinth has got to be one of my favourite films as a child. The story is about a young girl Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) who is left at home to baby sit for her little brother Toby. Being slightly annoyed being made to babysit (as you would be) gives Tony to the Goblin King (David Bowie) who hides him in the middle of his Labyrinth. To get him back Sarah has got to rescue him before midnight or he will turn into a goblin. As a typical Jim Henson ...
