Well what can I say? This is certainately the strangest movie I've seen in a while. In typical Tarantino style the plot of the film never really becomes clear until the end as the character keeps having flashbacks to earlier times which gradually explain the story. Essentially it begins with Bill and his gang (The deadly viper assasination squad) attempting to murder the lead character (Uma) at her wedding though, against all odds, she survives to ...
...death of her unborn child. The first volume follows her as she kills the first three people on her list and builds tension well for the new movie. Definately one to watch before seeing the second. Thats right we have a melting pot of old style 70's martial arts flicks blended into one massive revenge film featuring starlets from hollywood.. You can tell this is a tarantino film...he does like his references to the past doesnt he? Ok the plot, what there is of it. The film follows Uma thurmans character as she takes revenge on her killers, yes her killers, or so they thought. I was quite looking forward to seing this film, although had not seen many trailers. Withing the 1st 5mins I was ready to leave the cinema! My mate felt the same too. the film is very overrated, over stupid, and very over the top. I'm aware that a lot of people liked the film, but ifyou are expecting a good plot, with gripping stoy then you have chosen the wrong film. Its very predictable, & slow. I've never sen so many limbs cut / hacked from so ...
...so much tomato sauce bursting from the boddies. It's silly & the film could have been cut down to at least 1hour 30 mins easiley, without loosing anything other than stupid shots. The actors were good, done the best they could with the limited acting required for this film. I went to see Kill Bill last week. Bearing in mind martial arts and violence are my worst genre's I loved it! It incorporates all the tongue in cheek humour of a classic martial arts film along with some outstanding coreography in the fight scenes. Uma Thurman is a natural in her role although I found Lucy Liu a little less believable. Granted I am a huge fan of Quentin and I was expecting this film would be something special, I was not disappointed. This is an absolute cinematic joy. Your attention is grabbed in the first scene and it keeps you there right until the end! This is not a film for the faint hearted with a lot of blood spilt, the film in littered with references to other mainly oriental films, the most obvious being the suit the Uma Thurman wears in the same as Bruce ...
...I think Quentin talent extends to his choice of soundtrack again another classic score starting with the eerie Nancy Sinatra song ‘Bang Bang’.
