...or has he?
Kill Bill Vol.1 is Tarantino’s Eastern. Yes, he has infused his own brand of dark humour in this movie but Vol. 1 is a blend of 70’s Samurai, Kung Fu and exploitation movies (to name a few genres). He says it’s a homage to these types of movies he watched when he was younger. (E.g. Game of death, Lady Snowblood, any Kung Fu film by the Shaw Bros). So has he ripped off these genres of films because he has no ideas of ... ...honest this does not really matter because what we have here is the best Martial arts/action movie of 2003. Uma Thurman plays BLEEP, aka the bride or Black Mamba who, after being shot down bang bang in the head at her own wedding, awakes from a coma and surprise surprise wants revenge. She then goes on a bloody rampage to settle scores with old acquaintances i.e. The Deadly Viper Assassin Squad and ultimately their boss, Bill who was responsible ...

...Thurman and it’s name was Kill Bill. Kill Bill Vol 1 is the first part in Tarantino’s epic revenge pic and it’s everything you would have expected it to be. Uma Thurman plays The Bride, a member of an elite group of female assassins. Like a covert Charlies Angels they answer to a mysterious figure by the name of Bill (Keith Carridine). We join the film in the wake of a bloody massacre on The Brides wedding day. All the guests are dead and The Brides ... ...on those who tried to kill her.
All of Tarantino’s previous films have riffed on the movies he’s loved over the years from blaxplotation through to Asian cinema. Asian films primarily influence kill Bill Vol 1. Right from the outset you’re sucked in as the film opens in a non-Hollywood way and briefly transports you into the seventies. You get a haunting song by Nancy Sinatra where the lyrics set the tone of the movie perfectly. Then we have an ...

...and plays the lead in Kill Bill: Volume 1. Got that? Then we’re ready to go.
Uma Thurman plays The Bride. She used to belong to a highly efficient hit gang led by a never-seen man called Bill. For reasons unknown to us as yet, the gang crashes Uma’s wedding day, killing her fiancé, her guests, the priest, and leaving a pregnant Bride (heretofore known by her code name, Black Mambo) for dead. She lies in a coma for five years, then fights viciously ... ...to do. She must kill Bill; him and all the other assassins who left her for dead, but more importantly, killed her unborn child. Not only her natural resilience and strength help her with her task, but also the rage of a mother scorned.
The story is told in chapter format, so that the film is broken up into chunks, and shown in different orders. Presumably in volume two, we will find out some more background into the story. This format avoids having ...

Before I get started, I'd like to point out that this is the second attempt at this opinion, taking into account all the criticism I recieved with regard to the first. I thank you for all your comments and please don't hesitate to let me know if you think that there is something I could improve on.
I did not see many of the trailers ... ...tube and recieved feedback from some of my classmates. I chose to see this film out of curiosity more than anything else.
What I witnessed was a swashbuckling, action-packed film with more than just a dash of blood. It is not hard to keep up with, as there isn't much to think about, you know what has happened and what is going to happen, it is jsut a question of how it happens.
Uma Thurman plays "The Bride" (her name is bleeped out during the film), ...

Hello, you did not certainly miss the exit of the first shutter of Kil Bill, I thus will speak to you about this film.
If there is well a thing to retain this bloody opus that us Quentin Tarantino laid, it is that it is prohibited at least 16 years. Thus moderate your heat if you are not accustomed to contemplating haemorrhages with all sauces, because blood squirts, is spread, flooded, that it is out of jets or geyser, in short, this film is true ... ...can only note the force and the beauty of fourth film of Tarantino, already from his discussion thread: the revenge on a woman who will not haggle by cutting out her former "girlfriends" of pieces (a cranium with open sky for example). This desire, this hatred and this thirst for revenge at our heroin, "Black Mamba", is born from a succession of crueler events touts the ones than the others: the day of its marriage, she is hurted whereas it carries ...

Kill Bill the fourth film by the legendary BAFTA, Academy Award, Emmy winning (to name a few) Quentin Tarantino. This is an epic length drama which houses Hong Kong martial arts movies, Japanese samurai movies and weaponry skills. Nonlinear meaning narrative ... ...and Thurman inviting her to kill her when she is older was a legendary moment to see such an innocent character witness such a blood event. Advantages: very entertaining story. great stylized action sequences. Disadvantages: none
To begin, I’ve never been the biggest Quentin Tarantino fan. Although I’ve enjoyed parts of his movies and thought on the whole they were entertaining, well-made films, they lacked much gravity or substance. They were movies a 12-year old boy might make if he knew had camera and a twenty million dollar budget. Well this movie, “Kill Bill Vol. 1,” spoke to my inner twelve-year old, that young punk kid who craved “cool,” stylized martial arts battles ... ...genre, it is a work of brilliance. If movies are to be judged on entertainment value, I can not think of another movie I have enjoyed more this year. Yes, I loved “Lost in Translation,” “American Splendor,” “Whale Rider,” and “Return of the King” among others this past year, but none were quite as fun “Kill Bill Vol. 1.” Nothing this year has as much violence, either. Tarantino uses revenge to drive his story. In the opening scene, we see Bill killing ...

Kill bill along with all the other Tarantion films has its own style and make you hang on every word written in the script. It is funny yet serious...and there is loads of action yet the film still follows a story line that is easy to follow but keeps you interested throughout

Kill Bill is a tribute to all the japansese matial art movies of years gone by. ...hell, as The Bride in Kill Bill, she was a ho who didn’t take sh*t from no-one - I can only respect that in a woman. And that’s what Dick Dangerous would like to talk to you about today – Kill Bill Volume One, in which Uma goes out to total the titular Bill.
Man, film set ups couldn’t be any simpler – we first see Uma lying on the floor dressed in full bridal gear and spattered in blood as Bill puts a bullet in her ... ...on some dude. But in Kill Bill, Tarantino manages to make his heroine actually kick some serious butt – really The Bride is a 21st century successor to Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name, an anonymous hero with a shady past who we root for even when they’re sadistically wasting some guy. And it’s not just Uma who kicks ass for all the ladies; all the supporting characters are girls as well – from Vivacia Fox’s die-on ...

Advantages: Finally another Tarantino film Disadvantages: Part 2 is not out yet !
...of the film sets up Kill Bill part 2 very nively indeed. I wont give it away but i myself am very interested to see what happens in the next installment.
The soundtrack and music was chosen and composed by RZA from hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan. The Wu-Tang clan are known for their love of kung fu style films and have in the past sampled parts of such films for their songs. A very good choice as music co-ordinator in my opinion.
Others i spoke ... ...as myself for a number of reasons. Some said it was too gorey and the fight scenes went on too long whilst i feel others were just picky and disliked the Manga sequence. I admit that the story could have been stronger but overall i myself would recommend the film to anyone who enjoys action and does not mind much focus on fight scenes and the like. ...

Kill Bill Vol.1 begins in full action-packed mode. A stunning woman on women fight scene, but not your usual ‘cat fight’, this is full-on, tough, get your kitchen knife out stuff. The film is separated by ‘chapters’ that tell the story and although they are not in Chronological order, they are very easy to put together and understand. This is by far no means a intellectual ... ...very over the top, but you have to remember that Tarantino is paying homage to the classic Japanese fighting films which are, lets face it, OTT! With that in mind, the Samurai sword fighting scenes are breathtaking and directed with just a hint of tongue in cheek if you also consider the soundtrack chosen for a given scene. It must be said that this film, especially during the lengthy fight scenes is extremely bloody, and although the bloodiest of ...

...a masterpiece of cinema in Kill Bill.
As plot-lines go this is fairly flimsy, although none-the-less very intruiging. The film starts in a wedding chapel where a horrendous bloodbath has occurred. The Bride (Uma Thurman) heavily pregnant has been savagely beaten and is about to be shot in the head.
It is probably one of the best openings of a film I have seen for some time, Thurman actually looks as though she has taken a beating, and it being ... ...those that brutally attempted to kill her in the first sequence of the movie. I knew all this before seeing the film and it did not detract from my immense pleasure upon viewing the movie.
The cast is fantastic, I especially applaud Uma Thurman as The Bride because she is convincing and stunning in this role, she looks beaten and bloodied, and she still manages to look beautiful and somewhat angelic too. Don't quite know how she manages it.

...and prepared myself to enjoy Kill Bill. Did I? Yes, I think so; but wait, it is not so simple. Like so many of Tarantino’s films there is an element of homage, an attempt to refer to genres he so clearly loves; in this case martial arts flicks, 70s trash movies, anime (there is even overtones of the 70s Rape/Revenge genre in the beginning, only the rape is symbolic in the attempted ritualistic murder of Uma Thurman). The film begins wonderfully, ... ...drama. “I’m not gonna kill you in front of your kid…”
I’m not gonna give away the story here because that would be churlish. Though in actual fact there is little story to give away: it is a murder/revenge story as made evident by the poster with Uma Thruman clad in yellow motorbike clobber and “that” tag line.
So if I’m not gonna give away the story what am I gonna give away? The answer: all I have to give, my opinion.
It looks amazing; though ...

Kill Bill
Volume 1
Written and Directed By: Quentin Tarantino
Starring: Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah and David Carradine
The fourth film from Quentin Tarantino is a comic book style action-packed kung-fu thriller which excites, sickens and entertains during the whole 106 minutes. The film narrates the bride's (Thurman) journey of revenge against the 'Deadly Viper Assassination Squad', who had left a pregnant ... ...a coma four years after the attack and must track down all the members before attempting to take on Bill (Carradine).
The film is very stylish, Tarantino seems to obsess on every detail and no scene feels superfluous, which helps to create a slick end product. The dialogue is good but not as eloquent as Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, though this may be due to the more action packed nature of this picture. As with other Tarantino movies the music ...
