Advantages: Good effects Disadvantages: Poor story
I remember going to see this film at the cinema about 8 years ago. At the time it was hailed as a cinematographic masterpiece with ground breaking special effects and realistic dinosaurs roaming the earth. While it does live up to being very clever in the way it is made, the actual storyline and plot is very wishy washy. THE FILM. Very well made with a good cast. The actors are well known. Sam Neil plays the doctor who is dubious about bringing the ... ...He is invited to stay at an island built by Richard Attenborough and the creator of the new dinosaurs. Also playing a part is investor Jeff Goldblum. Along with other less reknowned actors and actresses they seem to carry out the film without too much cheese or witty comments. THE PLOT. A very weak theory on how we can recreate them. Stealing DNA from mosquitos who happen to have bitten a dinosaur and then accidentally been preserved in amber sounds ...

Advantages: So many extras! Disadvantages: None at all!
...you’ll remember from the cinema! Jurassic Park is better and slightly more serious than The Lost World, and also has a much more gripping plot, although some of the scenes in The Lost World are some of the most spectacular ever seen. The boxset may be expensive, but if you have a look at the extras, it’s certainly worth it. Every extra is fantastic, and they provide hours of entertainment even after the films are over. This is fantastic – get it ...

Advantages: Nice but limited extras, great movie, superb SFX Disadvantages: Extras become dull after a while
...left for Easter.
And Jurassic Park on DVD left me feeling a bit the same. I already knew the movie was good, although not quite as good as the novel, but that's a give. The story is tight, with only a couple of 'please the kids' bits, the effects superb and the characters just the right side of cheesy. Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm is a treat.

The best extra in my eyes is the animatic sequence for the kitchen, using stop-motion raptors and Ken & Barbie dolls for the kids. The film was originally going to use stop-motion for the dinos, y'see, but ditched them in favour of better CG technology. The making of fills you in on this issue better than ...

Advantages: Special effects, acting, just everything really Disadvantages: None
Jurassic Park, released in 1993, will always be regarded as one of the best films ever made. The signs were already good, Michael Crichtons book (my favourite book) was a bestseller, and it was given an excellent cast, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and a British favourite, Richard Attenborough, and directed by the famous Steven Spielberg.

You don't have to be a genius to work out what happens next, but the film is still very exciting and tense.
The special effects are incredible, as well as revolutionary, because the dinosaurs are so convincing, but the thing which is so good is that this has never been done before. Everybody loves dinosaurs, and this combined with an excellent storyline.

Advantages: Jurrasic Park Disadvantages: The Lost World
If you want to show off the wonders of DVD then this is a great set to start with - the two films really utilise the widescreen format and the surround sound to their best, and the print is of such good quality on wonders why we will ever need to go to the pictures again in a few years - just wait till iget my projection telly!

The special effects are, as you can imagine, pretty special and on DVD they are better than ever - even the cinema did not show off the dinosaurs to such glory. This is one truly wonderful picture to look at.
The Lost World is an even nicer looking film. Unfortunately, the storyline is a little naff, and Spielberg seems to realise this by putting ...

Advantages: Great action and special effects Disadvantages: none
Jurassic Park is undoubtedly one of the greatest films of all time. It really was the pioneer for groundbreaking special effects. This means that the real stars are the dinosaurs but the human cast really excel and provide tension and excitement. This provides not only a thrilling tale and amazing images of creatures extinct for millions of years but it is full of action and pace although a little slow at the beginning. Once the
characters are established ...

i remember when this flm came out. what a storm it made in the box office and in the media. it is a classic dinosaur sci fi film and if you was going to write a story line for a dinosaur film, it is very likely to end up being very similar to this one! oh well, despite that, it is not that bad a film and i think everybody enjoyed watching it at first, though it did become a little tedious after the bbc showed it for about the tenth time! a classic ...

Review of Jurassic Park (DVD)
Advantages: Great action sequences, still amazing effects Disadvantages: Poor characterisation but not really needed anyway
I'm sure if Michael Crichton (the writer of the novel it's based on) had directed this it would have dwelt more with the scientific angle and been more thought provoking, but I think it required the action master himself Steven Spielberg to sit at the helm. He manages to capture the awe of such an experiment actually working and takes us on a theme park rollercoaster ride in typical Spielberg fashion. No dwelling on character forming or the ethical ...

Advantages: The dinosaurs Disadvantages: The annoying girl
Jurassic Park, I thought, was really good. The idea of being able to complete dinosaur DNA by using frog genes really made me think ‘what if we really could do that?’ Also, when the power shuts down in the park, that’s when you know it’s going to be terrifying! (And they are initially stuck in cars!) I think the funniest part is when the guy’s sitting on the toilet, and the dinosaur lifts the bathroom bit up! That’s comedy! I recommend this film, ...

Review of Jurassic Park (DVD)
Advantages: Amazing special effects Disadvantages: The storyline gets lost a bit compared to the effects
Jurassic Park was a ground-breaking film, showcasing wonderful special effects which made the dinosaurs seem far more realistic than ever before. Of course, technology moves on & this has since been surpassed by the effects used in Walking With Dinosaurs, but it does not detract from it being a great film. I think everyone knows the story of the film, it stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern & the wonderfully sexy Jeff Goldblum. But of course the real stars ... ...ones in the vegetation to the huge T-Rex & the vicious Velociraptors. The story is interesting, thought-provoking & keeps your interest throughout. The child actors can be slightly irritating at times & some scenes are rather too gory, but it all leads into a wonderfully exciting & dramatic climax. Highly recommended. ...

Advantages: Seeing some pretty damn good special effects Disadvantages: Some rather baffling moments
I personally think that Jurassic Park is pretty overrated, plus I have to say that is by far inferior to the 3rd Jurassic Park movie. Yes, the special effects are pretty awesome and when filming the dinosaurs, Spielberg's camera techniques and quality are pretty unparalelled. In a way I think this is the major draw of the film and is a major reason for its umprecedented popularity.
However, looking past the cinematography, I certainly discovered ... ...the kitchen. I thought those where the best bits in the film.
Therefore I am not going to rave about it like most people. I would still recommend it for an entertaining watch, but Jurassic Park 3 is better, and there are vast numbers of disaster/adventure films out there. ...
