Having the ablilty to jump anywhere you wanted, now that would be ideal for a stress time out in the Bahamas or having some thinking time in the Austrialian outback. The film Jumper caught my eye for many reasons. The trailer was fantastic and very eye catching. ... ...was more about stopping time, Jumper was about slowing it down and blurring it. I loved the graphics in all of the scenes. My favourite was a scene where jamie bell jumps a whole double decker bus from New York to his pad in the desert to try and run over Roland (Samuel). I was not bored at any point of the film and felt involved in the action as the audience. Locations and Filming
I loved the locations throughout the film. The different settings ...

...actors together. Luckily for me Jumper starts off pretty good, and I'm pleased to say that Christensen an actor who annoys me more than many others is actually quite acceptable as the movies lead, on the downside young Jamie Bell is not so hot.
David Rice (initially played by Max Thieriot before later being played by Christensen) is a good kid, a good kid that wants to be a little different. His dad (Michael Rooker) is a heavy drinker and he feels ... ...are not entirely clear.
Jumper certainly starts off as a perfectly capable movie, cleverly delivered and nicely handled by the annoying Christensen. And for the most part I really enjoyed the movie, however no sooner has he met up with Jamie Bell bearing one of the worst mock Irish accents I have heard for a long time (a kind of Dick Van Dyke Cockney, mixed with Aussie Paul Hogan); the story seems to take a sharp nose dive. I should add that despite ...

...was having a nap.
Jumper is about a young man named David Rice who in his teenage years discovers that he seems to have some sort of ability which allows him to teleport wherever and whenever he wants to. As an adult, he has control of this power and is making the most of it, stealing money from banks to live on etc. But his world is shaken when he is targeted by the Paladins, a group of vigilantes wanting to wipe out all Jumpers from the world. ... ...course its cast. The main jumper and 'hero' of the film David is played by Hayden Christensen. I haven't actually seen this young man in anything before but I felt he was distincly average in this film and totally outshone by his co-star Jamie Bell. Christensen seemed to take it all too seriously for me and didn't let go enough, he didn't seem to be fully enjoying himself as you should when filming this sort of movie. In antithesis, young Englishman ...

...sweetly sinister mother. His fellow jumper and only friend, Griffin (Jamie Bell), was left behind in the midst of action as David didn't want to put him in further danger by freeing him to follow him into the fray. If this were a stand alone film, these loose threads would become huge flaws rather than enticements. The special effects were flawlessly executed and definitely add to the appeal of the film. Whirlwind jumps around the world in the midst ... ...blend of action and romance, Jumper could be opening the door to a whole new world of entertainment for movie-goers. Remember though, it is often easier to jump to conclusions than it is to accept the truth, and there are always consequences to our actions. Advantages: Jamie Bell, visually stunning, interesting idea Disadvantages: Hayden Christensen, boring, drags out a bit
This film is based primarily around David Rice, played by Hayden Christensen. As a teenager David discovers he has a strange power - he can jump from place to place, essentially teleporting himself to different locations. He begins by using this power to rob banks, using the money to get himself a luxury apartment. Unfortunatley for David, religious Roland (Samuel L Jackson) knows about the jumpers and hates them, believing that only God should have ... ...to be his job to kill all of them, and begins to track them down with the help of his group, the Paladins. David is not remotely discreet with his jumping, sometimes jumping right in front of people, and so it does not take very long before people start to notice. Luckily for David, the first person to catch up with him is another jumper, Griffin (Jamie Bell). Griffin considers himself to be a Paladin Slayer and mockingly fills David in on some of ...

Advantages: great jumping film Disadvantages: felt like more of an intro
This is a film I tried my very hardest to go to the cinemas to watch it, only didn't have the time, neither did any of my friends, so when I had enough free time, they didn't and it just was never meant to be. So I waited and forgot all about it, until it became 3 for £20 (now 4 for £20) it then became IMPOSSIBLE to miss! So my mom picked it up without asking me and I only found out when we got to the counter. I was happy that we had got it, but ... ...on DVD that I hadn't thought about trying to see it at the cinema, it just erased itself from my mind!
The director of this film is Doug Liman. He is known solely as the director for the Bourne trilogy, and is also known for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, none of those films has given me much thought in whether to watch them or not, and therefore have not watched them. However I am intrigued in watching Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but we are not allowed to buy any more ...

Advantages: Nice superpower, nicely anti-superhero theme Disadvantages: Poor casting, and just could have been better
...at least, if you're a Jumper - an individual born with the super-power-esque ability to teleport yourself to just about anywhere. Meet David Rice (Hayden Christensen): one of the lucky individuals able to do just that. Cue almost a decade of the ultimate playboy lifestyle: the intro quickly introduces us to a typical day for David, jumping between breakfast in Paris, surfing in Hawaii, before a spot of sunbathing on top of Egypt's Sphinx. Oh yes, ... ...there might be a possible Jumper sequel; however my fear is that it'll go the same way as CoR: not received well enough for the second part to be given a chance.
And that's a shame, as far as I'm concerned, as I did enjoy the mindless fun and the possibilities of where to jump to, as well as the emerging threats (and a twist at the end!) spoiling what would otherwise be a pretty darn good life. That said, I do wonder how much more there is to take ...

Advantages: Hayden Christianson, great story Disadvantages: None
Jumper is a film which caught my eye due to Hayden Christian being in it as I did like him is Star Wars. Also the fact that Samuel L Jackson also starts is another bonus. The film starts with a young David Rice being at school and giving a girl he likes a snow globe, another boy comes over and laughs at him and throws the snow globe onto the frozen lake, David goes onto the ice to get it back and he finds he falls through. Whilst under the water ... ...guy which is also a jumper and he tells David of the dangers of the zealots and how they are finally getting the equipment needed to track all jumpers. Will David be able to escape the zealots or will his jumping be stopped and what did happen to his mother?

Advantages: Decent effects, decent idea Disadvantages: Wooden Lead, Undercooked Plot
Jumper is a film about one man's struggle to come to grips with the problems in his life caused by the itching of the hideous jumper his grandma knitted him last Christmas.
No of course not, Jumper is about teleportation. At a young age David Rice (Hayden Christensen) discovers he has the ability to teleport and jump to anywhere in the world. Now instead of using his power for good, instead he uses it to live a lavish lifestyle of leisure. All funded ... ...level of brainless, empty sci-fi. Jumper is a pretty ropey film from beginning to end and struggles to even last past ninety minutes. The main problem with it is that it just doesn't feel that exciting and having someone teleport to different countries get's pretty dull quickly. The choice of Christensen in the lead role is also a bit of a fumble. There have been comments previously about the quality of his acting in the Star Wars films but generally ...

...action. Throughout the film, Jumper features some absolutely fantastic scenes. Two worthy of mention are the landscapes surrounding the tourist attraction that are the Pyramids and the Sphinx in Egypt. The other scene which looks good is when David’s character is stood in front of the clock face of Big Ben. The film ends and leaves the story open for a possible sequel, but if the writers have any sense, they won’t take it that far. The film runs ...

Advantages: Amazing Special Effects, Thrill of a Lifetime Disadvantages: Would have been nice if it was a longer film
Jumper is possible one of the best action films i've seen this century. I would rank it however about #20 of the top films i've seen this century :P
David Rice was a normal schoolboy many years ago. Hated, Abused and always loved somebody who would normally ignore him. When David walks onto the ice to retrieve ... ...soon to be trapped under the ice and looks as if he wouldn't be able to come back up. The only thing he could do however to make that possible, is to steal from the bank. Without opening any doors or breaking them down, he jumps back and forth collecting as much ...

Advantages: Looks flashy Disadvantages: Truly utterly awful movie in general.
...your hard earned money on, Jumper has a really cool and excellent looking trailer. Sadly like almost all trailers the film it advertised is not only nothing like it, it's utter garbage. In the trailer you'll see shots of jumping all over the world, this will also happen in the movie in a very badly created context. Take a young guy who after a conflict with the school bully falls through ice and is about to die. Then just before The Grim Reaper gets ... ...them. He meets a fellow jumper (Jamie Bell, best known as Billy Elliot) who he learns more about the history of jumpers from. Obviously he and Bell team up initially but fall out once he involves his old girlfriend as he has to save her from the bad guys lead by Samuel L Jackson. It's a weak film and having Samuel L Jackson and Hayden Christensen (cast to draw in the Star Wars fans no doubt) doesn't really save it from the god awful plot and lack ...

Jumper the idea that around us are people capable of teleporting at will to any place on earth imagine the trouble you would cause with that power, as would anyone lucky enough.
