DREAMCOAT on Video Review ofJoseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (DVD)by

Advantages: good sturdy production Disadvantages: some scenes with overlong sexual overtones
This production of Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the first film rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's debut musical, which was originally presented in its shorter form at college auditoriums back in 1970.
Based from the last parts of the Bible's book of Genesis - it tells the story of Jacob (whom God called ISRAEL so as to bear the lineage of His chosen race, as according to the Bible) and his son Joseph, whom he favoured ...

Advantages: Fun, Cheap & A Great Sing-A-Long Film Disadvantages: None
Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the dvd from the fantastic West End and Broadway hit musical. Which still plays to packed out audiences worldwide today, after it's first performance back in 1968.
This DVD, an adaption of the stage version turned into a film, rather than a live stage performance recording, starts off with the Narrator played by London stage veteran Maria Friedman. She plays the role very well and then walking through ...

Advantages: Great songs and a well known storyline. Disadvantages: Poor sets which made me feel I was watching a school play.
This version of Joseph is fantastic...if you're a Donny Osmond fan. Which is why I watched it in the first place. Otherwise I think it's a disappointing version of an excellent Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice masterpiece.
The storyline sticks to the original well known story, with a host of wellknown songs, which in my opinion are well orchestrated and sung by the cast.
The sets are cheap and flimsy, and although this is intentional, it didn't add ...

Advantages: Fantastic Music Disadvantages: Seems like a low-budget musical
Although it is a Bible story, this musical has instant appeal to everyone, as the music is so catchy, and there are a few modern references. The narrator is the most original character, as she tells the story to a group of schoolchildren and makes the whole storyline seem so much more interesting.
The other characters are good, although they can seem a little over-acted at times. The singing is great - they make it look very easy and really add ...

Joseph! Review ofJoseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (DVD)by

Advantages: Donny Osmond Disadvantages: It hasn't got Lee Mead in it - YET!
I thought this was truly amazing - both my son and daughter who are only 5 and 2 love this dvd - it has had so much use over the last year or so - both the children know all the songs and I am repeatedly hearing them sing them even when the dvd is not on!!!
I even had to go out and buy the soundtrack on cd so that we could have the children singing along to the songs in the car!!!!
I love the dvd so much and the stage show also that I can't wait ...

Advantages: Fun for all the family Disadvantages: hmmm, can't think of any
The ever gorgeous Donny osmond in this classic Lloyd webber musical dvd is a must for any musical lover, or indeed faithful 'osmond' fan. The difference between this musical and some others is that it is extremely family friendly. Whimsical dances's and talented actors make this musical worthy of its place in BBC's top 100 musicals last year. Donny Osmond truly shines in the performance that secured his position as a true west end performer. Not only ...

Best Musical Ever! Review ofJoseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (DVD)by
phantomspannah
Advantages: Great songs and cast Disadvantages: Too short!
Amazing from start to finish; truly one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best pieces to date. Donny Osmond is superb in the role of Joseph, with an amazing support cast including Maria Friedman (as the Narrator), Richard Attenborough ,and Joan Collins.
This musical is timeless; the songs really get to the heart of the story, ranging from the upbeat 'Song Of The King'; to the Western and French numbers sung by the brothers; to Joseph's angsty solo: 'Close ...
