    Advantages Advantages Great acting, scenery

    BEWARE! CONTAINS SPOILERS AND PLOTLINE! THE STORY The story starts in the mid 1800's and we see a man floating on a make shift boat. The man is Jeremiah Johnson (played b Robert Redford) He is an ex-soldier, he has arrived in Utah to fulfil his ambition of becoming a mountain man. Jeremiah asks the local shop owner where he can go to hunt. The man gives him directions and Jeremiah sets off into the snowy mountains. Jeremiah comes across an old man who hunts bears. He teaches Jeremiah new skills. He tells Jeremiah that the territory he is heading for is indian territory. There are 2 tribes. One ... more

    Advantages Advantages simple, honest, old fashioned.

    I really enjoyed this because of it's old fashioned nature. Redford creates a very likable character, a gentleman of the kind that is rarely seen today in films or real life. A real man, one might say. It is not full of action, there are no big battles of cowboys and indians, in fact i don't think i would even call this a western. It is all set in the snowy Rocky mountains and you follow jeremiah through all the trouble he encounters while trying to adapt to this new life. He does get a wife but there is nothing soppy here, no "emotional kiss" when he realises he loves her. His passion is ... more
