Now What, Ass?

Advantages: Sick, funny, packed with extras
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste, some filler

...to be “the team of Jackass discover evil land developers want to build a min-mall on their skatepark, so team up and devise a cunning plan to foil them/raise money to buy the skatepark”. Nah. This is merely a cobbled together bunch of “too outrageous for TV” moments. With all the swears left in. ***THE INCREDIBLE BULK*** So instead of a well-scripted comedy tour-de-force, we are left with a tawdry farce – or at least a fragmented version of one. ...
...two emotions possible whilst watching Jackass really. And the soundtrack is typical of the series – Ramones, CKY and the like. So why bother shelling out for the DVD? ***HERE BE EXTRAS*** Oh my, yes. Let me run through them all one by one, like a hurdler who is scared of leaping. + Commentary #1 This features Jeff Tremaine, the director & co-creator (who now works on MTV’s Wildboyz), Johnny Knoxville (“star” and occasional actor) and the spell-checker’s ...

Jacking up the stupidity

Advantages: Funny, pointless, stupid and puerile skits appeal directly to my sense of humour.
Disadvantages: No different to the tv show - if you don't like that, you won't like this.

...item that came to hand, Jackass became an overnight sensation in the States, eventually making its way over to this side of the pond, and gradually spawning a slew of imitators - most notably, the boys from Dirty Sanchez. However, none of these quite seeped into the public consciousness enough to warrant their own movie. In 2002, the Jackass crew - Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Ryan Dunn, Preston Lacey, Ehren ...

Containing stunts too dangerous/hardcore/stupid to show on regular television, and with numerous warnings about not trying any of the skits at home, the movie shifted from the sublime to the ridiculous quickly and assuredly, and found itself hitting the Top 10 chart on both sides of the Atlantic. With nudity (all male, ladies!), swearing which could never get past the censor in America, and plenty of ...

Despite a lot of criticism, none of this has deterred the Jackass team, and last year they appeared in a bigger, longer, uncut version of the TV show: Jackass The Movie. The movie opens with a piece to introduce the team. But it’s made clear throughout that the team are professionals, and each stunt is performed under a carefully controlled environment, with medics on hand in case of incident. Despite having watched numerous episodes of the TV show and seen the film several times, I have never once been moved to try and emulate ...

Could things get any sicker

Advantages: Hilariously funny
Disadvantages: would offend 90% of the nation

It had to come really didn’t it, after all the idiotic TV shows on MTV and then later Channel 4, there had to be a time when it would hit the bigscreen, and boy, did it do it in style. I’m talking about Jackass, which basically summed up in it’s title, a group of lads (and sometimes lasses) arsing around doing insane stuff that normally ends up with them either being violently sick, bleeding or in serious pain. This is of course all so that they ...
...younger adults enjoy the show, making money for these people who decide to do things to themselves that no one would ever dream of doing. …Imagine for a second making an omelette. Ok, we’ve all done it, but now imagine this….take one raw onion, bite into it, chew and swallow, do the same with a heap full of butter, drink a few raw eggs, eat a slab of cheese, bite into some raw peppers…hold on, I can see you heaving, but down a couple more raw eggs ...

...shopping trolley? Definately the latter. Jackass is a movie like no other movie, it has no plot, no beginning or end and no life lessons learned. Put simply, it's just absolutely insane. I enjoyed the Jackass television series on Channel 4 a few years ago, because I enjoy watching people perform crazy stunts without caring what people think, even if they are putting their lives in the hands of fate. It's like watching a cruder, madder version of ...
...essence the movie version of Jackass is the same as the TV series, but obviously longer and with madder stunts, with Jonny Knoxville and his crew upping the ante. Many people are angry with Jackass for its complete and utter lack of morals and the fact that people are being filmed unpurposely trying to hurt themselves. I'm not of this view. If people are willing to hurt themselves and put it on film then that's their choice. I'll just sit back and ...

...don't know why I love Jackass so much, but I do. I should think it's a very acquired taste and, a few years ago, I would have said FAR from my own taste, but I became hooked on the show and if you like the show then the movie is dirtier, funnier, naughtier and more dangerous than any of the shows...to the nth degree. If you can't abide swearing, you really shouldn't watch this movie, however funny it sounds - it WILL offend you. If you hate juvenile, toilet humour, I'm afraid most of it won't be to your taste. If violence and/or bodily functions makes you squirm, DEFINTELY ...

Johnny Knoxville, damn that's a fine ass!

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's tastes

Jackass is either the best thing ever to come out of MTV, or a shocking decline in moral (and health) standards, depending on which side of the (bloody) line you stand on. I am firmly in the first camp. I think that Jackass is a breath of fresh air in amongst the pap that we are spoonfed off the TV, and whoever thought of turning it into a film should be a given a large payrise. In case you are one of the few not bitten by the Jackass bug (or haven't ...

I got this on DVD and brought it round to my parents' house to watch. My mum's first question (being as she'd never heard of it before) was 'Who's in it?' The always-flamboyant Rip Taylor whispers an idea at the end for a "Son of Jackass" and after a knowing wink, there's a preview of things to come for their sequel planned for 2063! The only danger about this is not that anyone would be stupid enough to repeat this stunt, but if there really is a sequel, how are they ever going to outdo themselves? ...

A Poor Transition

Advantages: Will keep the fans happy, some genuine laugh out loud moments.
Disadvantages: Drags on, just a lengthened episode, not too funny on the whole.

...aired on MTV, I found Jackass refreshingly original, drawing its comedy from the pain or stupidity of others. A thirty-minute slot also provided the perfect format for the show, as it took the form of short bursts of fun every now and then with a perfect balance between its grotesque and laugh-out-loud aspects. And as not many episodes were made, there was a firm focus placed on quality above quantity. Unfortunately, the feature length Jackass: ...
...– the usual ideas from Jackass – and therefore there’s enough here to satisfy most loyal fans, even if the quality of humour is far from up to scratch. Anyone else, however, won’t be too impressed as the ending credits role. Aside from the above, there really isn’t that much more to say about Jackass: The Movie. As I’ve already pointed out, being something that only just passes for a movie because of it’s length and extremity, there are very few ...

Jackass....my ass!

Advantages: It used to be funny
Disadvantages: Too long, too repetitive...commercial sell out

I remember watching Jackass on MTV when it was first shown in 2000, and thinking how amusing and how different it was. Over the years, it has become less amusing as the jokes and pranks become more repetitive, so when I heard that the gang were releasing 'Jackass - The Movie', I wondered if they were going to try and give the film a plot, and if so how were they going to manage it. For those of you who have not witnessed the antics of the Jackass ...

You'd Be A Jackass To Miss It

Advantages: Starring your favourite regulars, comedy value
Disadvantages: Never seems quite long enough

Jackass started life as a television series where complete idiots in controlled situations do things that most of us wouldn't even think about doing, let alone actually going ahead with it. The series concentrated on either private acts of buffoonery (have you seen the catapulting across a river?) or public acts whereby members of the general public got tricked (let's not go into the chocolate-sauce diaper). The movie (imaginatively titled) is ...
...Some of these stunts they would never get away with on television. It's a wonder how they don't get arrested in some of the scenes. Attention to detail is exceptional as Johnny Knoxville dons his mask as an old pensioner once again, Some members of the public are so nice, it does make you feel kind of sorry for them - if only they knew the truth(!) The camerawork is as amateurish as in the series where it's like they got a camcorder and filmed ...

JACKASS.... WHAT A MOVIE

Advantages: Side aching laughter
Disadvantages: Not for squemish people

This is definately not your run of the mill movie. Definately not for the fainthearted. If you are easily offended - forget it, but if you thank you can handle a bit of bizarre comedy, then this is brilliant... Putting it simply, they are all a bunch of lunatics.... ...

There is worse, including using a plumb centre display toilet to go to the loo and we are not talking ...
