Advantages: Good balance of comedy and drama, good performances, quirky. Disadvantages: Horrid soundtrack, Samantha Mathis.
...I had a watch of Jack and Sarah was the constant comments I kept reading about how Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl was little more than a remake of it. While there are certainly some similar plot points, on the whole though I would say that the two are entirely different. The best part though was finding a nice little film that I probably would have missed otherwise.
Walking the line between drama and comedy is not an easy one for any film. If you're ... ...glad to say though that Jack and Sarah balances between the two very steadily, only stumbling from time to time.
The film focuses on Jack (Richard E Grant), a London lawyer who is happily married to Sarah (Imogen Stubbs). She is pregnant, and I'm not giving away a huge spoiler to reveal that she dies during childbirth (this occurs in the first 15 minutes), leaving Jack to raise the baby (also named Sarah) by himself. He doesn't have a clue what ...

...of my favourite girlie films, Jack and Sarah and decided to force my other half into watching it as I wanted to watch something different.
The film is based on Jack (Richard E Grant) a Lawyer who is married to his lovely wife Sarah (Imogen Stubbs) and when we meet the couple it is clear that they are to be parents shortly, they are living in a house which has still not been completed by the builders and Jack has to cope with the tramp that lives ... ...passes away during childbirth leaving Jack to cope with the new baby. It is clear that Jack is finding it hard enough to cope with losing his wife, his solemate without having to cope with a demanding baby that he feels no connection to after his wife was lost through giving birth to his child.
Don't be put off by thinking that this is the plot of the story as it isn't by far, there is so much more to this film and its real mixture of characters ...

...It took a while for Jack to bond with the baby as it would just losing his wife, but soon enough he turns into a really great dad.
He hires a nanny that comes into his life and bring s the woman’s touch and looks after Sarah really well and one thing leads to another and well… it’s not hard to figure out the rest.
This is a really good movie and anyone can watch it. It’s funny and sad and it touches many parts of your emotions. ...

...in question is the eponymous Jack (played by Richard E Grant) who has a successful job in a city law firm and, along with his heavily pregnant wife, Sarah (Imogen Stubbs), is busy managing the renovation of their new home. Shortly after moving in, Sarah goes into labour in the night and Jack, in his haste to get her to the hospital, falls down the stairs, rendering himself unconscious and requiring an ambulance himself.
At this point the comedy ... ...to enter the house while Jack is sleeping off another drunken night and place the baby next to him in the bed, hoping that he is spurred to take responsibility - which, after an initial spell of resentment, he reluctantly does, naming the baby Sarah.
As Jack grows into his role as a father, the comedy returns to the film and a heartwarming relationship is forged, with Sarah now accompanying him everywhere, even to work.
Cue the entry of Amy (Samantha ...
