...year, when I was looking into movies that Vince Vaughn had appeared in and this is one of the most recent ones he's been in. When I read about it, I thought it sounded quite interesting, especially considering the fact that its based on a true story, from the novel by Jon Krakauer. The story of a young mans ambition to travel to Alaska and live off the land sounded intriguing and I was quite disappointed that it wasn't going to be shown at my local ... ...so good at putting movies into genres?! lol), though it is quite slow there are dramatic moments and some aspects may have been guessed to add to the movie but I'm not aware how much of the information is known to be true and whats been added. It mainly covers the themes or issues of family, trust and of living a travellers life, I guess.

...Christopher McCandless in the 90's. Into The Wild is a mildly fictionalised account of a true story about a young man's rite of passage through America, finally heading for Alaska.
Christopher (Emile Hirsch) is a very talented young man, passing all his college exams with flying colours, events of the world around him (both home and away) suddenly and seemingly from nowhere takes Christopher off on an adventure. His journey begins with the disposal ... ...and Alexander Supertramp was born. Into The Wild takes Alexander on a trip of America, he sees the good things in life, he sees the bad things; but what he does along the way is touch the hearts of everyone he meets.
I'm a little challenged by my thoughts on Into The Wild, visually its one of the most beautiful looking movies I have seen since Casino Royale, but rather like Casino Royale I was left a little less impressed with the movie than the ...

Into the wild
For some reason I had not heard any of the hype involved with this film and therefore did not even know it existed. I saw it one day on the shelf of Woolworth's and decided to give it a go. The fact that I had heard any of the hype for this film allowed me to enjoy it much more, as my expectations were not elevated and I could make a calculated conclusion without any other opinions or views getting in the way.
I believe that all the ... ...the research that was put into this film Emile Hirsch most probably knew the character he was playing inside out, hence the reason he was able to perform so well.
It is definitely one of those films that makes you think, and they don't come around very often. It isn't one of those films I must add, that you will sit around drinking and laughing with friends. It is however a film that I believe should be watched alone in silence, so that every word ...

Advantages: Great direction, acting and storyline! Disadvantages: its a long film which needs to be watched alone
Into the wild is based on the real life of Christopher McCandless (played by Emile Hirsch) as written in Jon Krakauer's best-selling book Into the Wild. An intelligent honours grad from Emory University, Christopher rebels against his domineering and materialistic parents by escaping into the wild of America in an attempt to live free from all money, objects and possessions. Christopher has recently graduated from college but before even know his ... ...film, which really draws you into a pure hippy lifestyle which to some extent we would all want. You will love and miss the characters and live the story as it unfolds. You will wonder if what you are doing is what you really want and if there is something you should be doing. Emile Hirsch's brilliant portrait of Christopher with depth and humanity along with the shining example of Hal Holbrook as widower Ron Franz and beguiling performance of Vince ...

Advantages: Music, locations, supporting cast Disadvantages: Boring in places
I don't want to rate this too highly. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good movie but the motives of the main character are highly questionable. He's a guy who just graduated college and gives up everything he has to go travelling around America. That might not sound like a big deal. He donates his life savings to charity and basically becomes a tramp, travelling from place to place and surviving on what he can forage for the main part. He's got no ... ...And that's pretty damn stupid & incredibly arrogant to think he'll ever make it. He doesn't ever try to contact his family who he estranged himself from. He doesn't really like his parents, he found out his father was married to another women with another child when his mother had him & his sister. He does seem to like his sister but his father is prone to bouts of aggression & some domestic violence to his mother. Their not a dysfunctional family ...

Advantages: Wonderful performances, excellent soundtrack, gorgeous scenery. Disadvantages: Gets rather dark, some may not take to Penn's jumpy directing style.
Sean Penn's movies as a director have always been interested in the loner, so it was an apt choice for him to film an account of the unusual tale of the young Christopher McCandles escape to explore America. Penn's camera captures the beauty of the American landscape in an astute piece of direction that avoids his usual dour heavy hand. At the centre of Penn's professionalism is the charming boyishly handsome Emile Hirsch who has a laidback yet dominant ... ...with the highlights being an Oscar nominated Hal Holbrook who takes a grandfatherly liking to Christopher and a subtle turn from Catherine Keener as a hippie who carries the weight of a lot of sadness under her demeanour. As the film reaches its heartbreaking conclusion, McCandles still comes across as a mystery, his reasoning and actions are still flawed and naive, yet having met many people on his journey and gave them each in a way a jolt of happiness ...

A film with many memorable quotes, thought provoking quotes ( If we admit that human life can be ruled by reason, then all possibility of life is destroyed. ) Based on a true story. This film follows the story of Christopher McCandless on a personal journey, which not only covers many miles, but a journey of his inner being.
He gives up his money and his family and makes his way to Alaska. The people he meets on his journey touch you as much as ... ...has watched this film found it totally amazing and it is definately one to watch again and again. It's not full of hollywood action, it feels real... (if you get what I mean).
You come away from watching this film and start to realise the impact of strangers, how easily strangers can become friends and how fragile relationships and human emotions are. You come to realise that everyone in life makes mistakes, wishes things to be different, wants ...
