Before I start this review can I just say that this is an astonishing, outstanding, exceptional, terrific, dazzling, excellent film. It is one of the best sci-fi experiences of my life and I am not alone, since this is one of the biggest box office hits of all time (number 20. on the box office hits list. It made $306,124,059). Advantages: Great special effects and some decent acting
Disadvantages: Maybe half an hour too long

I enjoyed this movie, sure it isn't the most original movie ever made or the best, but it was what it set out to be...which is a combo alien attack movie of the 50's plus an all-star disaster movie of the 70's. A lot of critics don't like this one and a lot of people who think of themselves as critics don't care much for it either, but it still brought in over 300 million at the box office in the summer of 96. Advantages: Great Acting
Disadvantages: Need the Big Screen

It is a good film, it has a solid story line and good acting. Sometimes, with regard to plot, the writers do get a little excited. But one is willing to overlook certain facts such as a firestorm would occur when the Spacecrafts enter the atmosphere, because otherwise there would be no story line at all.
