The year is 2035, robots are being used as humanised slaves. they'll walk your dog, clean your house, make your pies and will even safe your life. They are governed by the three laws of robotics which state they must protect humans, they must follow the orders of a human and they must preserve themselves as long as it does not conflict with the other laws. Will Smith plays Detective Spooner who is prejudice against the technology of the robots and ... ...that is prejudice is based on a terrible experiene with a robot. His fear and hatrid of robots when the head of USR (United States Robotics) Dr Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) apparently commits suicide, but things jut don't add up. Advantages: Great effects, Will Smith, watchable Disadvantages: Not very deep
I, Robot is very loosely based upon the science fiction works of Isaac Asimov. Asimov’s works established three premises for robots: 1) A robot cannot harm or by inaction allow a robot to come to harm. 2) A robot cannot allow itself to be destroyed, unless it violates the first law. 3) A robot must obey a human, unless it violates the first two laws.
The actual film follows the stereotypical Hollywood blockbuster role. The star of the film is Detective ... ...who likes to break the rules. He is obsessed by the risk that robots may pose to society. Smith is very good in the role; I would say it is a sanitised version of his role in Bad Boys. Will Smith has certainly bulked up since his days as the Fresh Prince, he obviously knows his way around a gym. If you are a fan of his he spends a fair bit of time with his top off. The film is set in 2035 and the world is dominated by US Robotics. This is firm is ...

...and write a review of I, Robot, the adaptation of Isaac Asimov's classic collection of stories.
I have seen plenty of previews and read plenty of reviews, so I was expecting action, action and more action and, well, I got it.

We are introduced to Detective Spooner ... ...he sees a young girl apparently about to drown in a car which has crashed into a lake/river (the significance of this is not shown until later).
He receives a call to the offices of US Robotics (whose skyscraper dominates the city skyline) in response to the apparent suicide of Dr Lanning, the pioneer in the field of robotics and the inventor of the 3 Robot Laws which state 1: A Robot cannot harm, or by inaction allow to be harmed, a human being.

Many people will have read the book “I Robot”, written by Isaac Asimov. In 2004, Alex Proyas directed a film based on this book.
This science fiction story is set in 2035, where robots have become common place in homes, being used for menial tasks. Spooner is a techno-phobe and has a deep dislike for the robots, which causes him to probe the case deeper despite objections.
This is a visually stunning story with an interesting story, but I felt that it relied too much on the special effects at a cost to the plot and dialogue. Will Smith does well in role ...

The movie is set in the year 2035 where there are robots everywhere. The robots are here to help us human and to ensure that they help us and don't start taking over the world 3 laws are downloaded on their hardware:
First Law: A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Second Law: A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
... ...as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Detective Spooner is called to investigate the apparent suicide of Dr. Lanning. It soon becomes clear that he has actually been murdered and Spooner suspects a robot (Sonny). The problem of course is that if Sonny killed Dr. Lanning that means that he has broken the three laws of robotics and that seems impossible. No one wants to believe Spooner as he always hated robots ...
