I Am Legend (DVD)

I bought I Am Legend the other day as there was little else in the store I fancied and had been fairly intrigued by the concept. I watched it with my partner, who found it terrifying, though she does have a low threshold for this kind of stuff. Personally, I didn't think it was particularly scary, there are a few well sign posted shocks along the way and the scene when the house is under siege is quite menacing. I liked the visualization of New York ...
...emotion to the story. However, I found the CGI pretty disappointing and the story is just 28 Days Later set in the US, which is a far superior and genuinely scary film. The story revolves around a cure for cancer which has been bio-engineered from the flu virus, a concept not too far away from current aspects of cancer research. the virus, in true 'them damn scientists think they're god' style, obviously mutates and escapes, infecting the inhabitants ...

...book then I suggest you watch the film first, and then read the book. If you have already read the book, go into this in the knowledge that it is very different and you'll be fine. Either way, you cannot be anything other than amazed by Will Smith's performance. ...

...is a great movie and I watched it with a pleasure but unfortunatetly it has a very familiar story to 28 days later, weeks later, doomsday and so on. I just wonder how many more movies with almost the same plot we will see in a nearest future. I am a massive fan of Will Smith and looked forward to watching what i saw as a new direction for this young and talented actor. The film starts out well, showing great restraint by building tension gradually and knowing not to show it's hand too soon. Will Smith brings a good blend of humour and pathos where many actors would have rolled out a tired old clichéd performance. After an hour of watching though i have to unfortunatley admit the film ...
...for dialogue and action. I became bored by the plot that consisted of finding a cure for the people who had turned into zombies. There is a lack of action, lack of sound, lack of everything. I thought that the overall plot of this film was quite interesting and entertaining, the acting was great, however I found parts of the story dragged on a little bit too much and I lost interest about half way through. ...feel given his predicament. I think it was good that the film did not go into too much detail as to the cause of the virus as too often these kind of films can become chemistry lessons as opposed to good quality action/dramas! I genuinely felt scared at some points in the film and I was hooked throughout, but I would advise not to watch this too late at night! I really wanted to watch this film at the cinema but decided to wait until it was out on rental. All I can say is, it was a waste of 2 hours of my life that I will never get back.
