5 Stars My, my, here come the Fuzz Review with images 19/07/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Brilliant, funny, well acted, great story, modern classic

Disadvantages Disadvantages Plenty of rude words

My, my, here come the Fuzz PC Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is a cut above his contemporaries, his arrest rate is 400% above the London Met Police average and he literally lives his job. One day after a break up with his girlfriend, he is asked by the Met Police top brass to move to become a Sergeant in the sleepy Gloucestershire village of Sandford, as he is making the rest of the Met Police look bad. On first arrival Sandford seems a quiet, quaint little village, famous for regularly winning village of the year competitions. Angel is paired with clueless local cop Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) ... more

Advantages Advantages Hilarious film, very well made and a huge array of extras

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe not to everyone's taste in humour

I have to admit that I for one am not really a huge fan of British humour that has been transferred to the big screen. I often feel let down by British comedies as I feel that they tend to hold back somewhat compared to the Americans. A couple of years ago however, my opinion was given a large kick in the pants by the wonderfully witty and excellently made ‘Shaun of the dead’. So upon hearing that the very same team were behind the hugely successful ‘Hot Fuzz’ I simply had to check it out and see if they could replicate the no holds barred insanity of their previous effort. Basic premise – ... more

Advantages Advantages Polished script to a granular level.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very gory in parts.

Never really been a fan of Simon Pegg at all, not watched Spaced, the first thing that I ever saw him in was Shaun of the Dead. I had bought the DVD in the HMV sale and was immediately hooked on what the actor could do. Hot Fuzz continues that approach as the film is made by the same writers as Shaun of the Dead. Although Pegg is the key focus in the film, it is the vast British acting talent that he has surrounded himself with that makes the film enjoyable and gives it an extra depth to watch. The plot starts out as a simple yet quite unfriendly situation. PC Nicholas Angel has been given a ... more

Advantages Advantages The attention to detail in parts

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as laugh a minute as some comedy films

The problem with putting out a decent debut; be it film, book or music; is that everyone expects your next effort to be better or at least equal in quality. Sometimes, in producing something wonderful first time out, it's like one-upmanship, except that the person you're effectively saying "Ha! Top THAT!" to is yourself. Such was the problem facing Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright after their debut feature film "Shaun of the Dead" was such a success. Into this situation steps their second film together, "Hot Fuzz". So, no pressure then. Nicholas Angel is the pride of London's Metropolitan Police ... more

Advantages Advantages It's action-packed, hilarious and immensely entertaining

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has too many endings!

If you haven't heard of Hot Fuzz, you must have been living under a rock for the last month. Or, at least, not watching TV at all. Simon Pegg, and to a lesser extent Nick Frost and Edgar Wright, have been mercilessly plugging this film on every single TV opportunity possible, as well as doing a series of signings up and down the country! Film 2007, the Culture Show, even Top Gear and the Baftas - none were safe from their promotional chit chat. Being a massive Spaced and Shaun of the Dead fan, I was eagerly awaiting their next project, although I was slightly put off by all this promotion ... more

Advantages Advantages Great character mix, good funny film you could see again and again

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is a certain style of humour that not everyone will share

Shaun of the Dead seems to have become my favourite film, one of few DVDs I have actually bought and a film I’ve seen numerous times. I loved the pairing of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, a friendship that makes them uniquely natural onscreen. When Hot Fuzz came out at the cinema, I could not wait to get out and see it, and I’ve watched it several times since. The only thing I don’t seem to have gotten around to is actually reviewing the film! Story Simon Pegg is Nicholas Angel, the most over-competent police officer ever to exist, so good he makes the London Met look bad. As with any problem ... more

    4 Stars Cop That! 22/03/2008
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Witty and entertaining

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly too long

As a rule, I am often disappointed by British comedies. So frequently they rely on the lead character being a bumbling idiot (see most Hugh Grant roles), but that format was tired and boring a long time ago. "Shaun Of The Dead" was the opposite of that, and it was hugely successful and well received by the critics. A lot of this is down to the fact that it was more americanised than the standard Brit comedy. "Hot Fuzz" sees the return of the team behind that film, and they are keen to prove that comedy can combine action with a touch of core and still be really funny. Simon Pegg teams up with ... more

    5 Stars Hot Comedy! 08/03/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Funny, big names, Simon Pegg was great

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit gory in parts

I do enjoy a good comedy film, so how Hot Fuzz has passed me by so far is a bit of a mystery to me. I loved Simon Pegg's feature film "Run Fat Boy Run" and since I have seen that, lots of people have told me that I would definitely enjoy Hot Fuzz too. So when I went to stay at my parents for a week and they suggested we watch a film, I spotted Hot Fuzz on the shelf and immediately decided that was the film of choice. My family do enjoy a comedy film, and this film certainly didn't disappoint for us, so much so we went out and bought it after seeing it! PC Nicholas Angel works for the ... more

Advantages Advantages Cast, performances, very funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me but some may find it silly

Synopsis Meet PC Nicholas Angel. With the top arrest record and a passion for paperwork he is the hottest cop in the Metropolitan Police Force. In fact, he is so hot that he is making his colleagues look bad. With this in mind Angel’s superiors send him away to Sandford, a village so sleepy it is practically comatose. Here he is partnered with the oafish Danny Butterman, a young PC looking for action of any kind. While at first Angel is suffocated by the pastoral atmosphere, bodies soon begin to appear and he and Danny are pressed into action. Sandford, it seems, may not be so idyllic after ... more
