Advantages: The attention to detail in parts Disadvantages: Not as laugh a minute as some comedy films
The problem with putting out a decent debut; be it film, book or music; is that everyone expects your next effort to be better or at least equal in quality. Sometimes, in producing something wonderful first time out, it's like one-upmanship, except that the person you're effectively saying "Ha! Top THAT!" to is yourself. Such was the problem facing Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright after their debut feature film "Shaun of the Dead" was such a success. Into ...

If you haven't heard of Hot Fuzz, you must have been living under a rock for the last month. Or, at least, not watching TV at all. Simon Pegg, and to a lesser extent Nick Frost and Edgar Wright, have been mercilessly plugging this film on every single TV opportunity possible, as well as doing a series of signings up and down the country! Film 2007, the Culture Show, even Top Gear and the Baftas - none were safe from their promotional chit chat.

...that when the adverts for Hot Fuzz came on at the cinema that I'd want to see that as well. Pegg was once again teaming up with Edgar Wright, the other brain behind Shaun Of The Dead and Spaced to create another British comedy. The problem with the adverts was whether they were showing all the comedy from the movie, as is usually the case, but there was only one way to find out. Go and see it.
Pegg takes the role of Sergeant Nicholas Angel, one ...

...a review on the movie HOT FUZZ. The latest collaboration from Simon Pegg, Nice Frost and Edgar Wright. Now, if you have no idea who any of these guys are, I'd suggest you've either been living with your head in the sand or you have no idea who or what is funny in British comedy these days. You might want to stop reading if you believe the pulse of British comedy is Keeping Up Appearances or something along those lines…

When watching it, which you've got to do, look out for these! Or, if you think that's a little bit sad, you could just watch it.

I originally went to see Hot Fuzz at the cinema with The Boyfriend – purely because the ‘chick flick’ I had wanted to see was sold out and The Boyfriend was practically wetting himself with excitement at the thought of seeing this film so I gave in – and I loved it! I know I’ve thoroughly enjoyed a film when I’ve come out of the cinema and spent ages talking about it with whoever I’ve gone to see it with and saying ‘the so and so bit was ...

Advantages: A Great British Comedy Disadvantages: None
Hot Fuzz is a brilliantly funny British Film. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this film at the cinema when it was first released and were delighted to find that our daughter has purchased the DVD. The film, to me, brought back memories of “The Full Monty” in that it is a hilarious British Comedy with many recognised and excellent actors, like Edward Woodward, Timothy Dalton, Bill Nighy, and Anne Reid. The film stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost of ...

...else is going mental for Hot Fuzz, and I can see why people might be over-generous; there's a lot of goodwilll out there for the Spaced cast and crew, and justifiably so. Spaced was a genuinely charming, innovative and well-constructed bit of kit. Shaun Of The Dead, which Hot Fuzz is inevitably going to be compared with, was a canny extension of the TV show, and played very much to their strengths - quirky, knowing humour, a strong, if not earth-shatteringly ...

This film is a great laugh. Simon Pegg is a legend. Take the time to go through the features on the disk - especially the subtitles by the directors!

Advantages: Great film and good features. Disadvantages: Few if any.
This is a great DVD with yet another hilarious preformance from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Also known for their parody of dawn of the dead "sawn of the dead". They have done it again with this high hitting comedy.
The film is about a very able police officer in london that is sent away to a small peaceful village in the middle of nowhere. But is it so peaceful? Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) doesnt think so.
Some violent graphic scenes and language.

Advantages: It's funny and different from most films.. which is ideal for a comedy Disadvantages: Might not catch on abroad
I liked this film a lot, it's a quality spoof of an American blockbuster style film. The village and the local behaviour of the villagers has a somewhat Midsomer Murder feel to it. I find that you get an immediate insight into the characters and they become like family friends from the start! As some other reviews may have mentioned, it's not non-stop laughter like some other films and does build up like an episode of a murder mystery series sometimes ...

Danny cracks me up as the character who constantly says the wrong thing at, you guessed it, the wrong time; who's answer to most of lifes mysteries is found in double print at the bottom of a pint of lager; and the wide eyed awe as he hero worships Angel (To Angel as he presents a serious rendition of what ...
