...Pan and Wendy by J.M.Barrie, Hook explores the idea of what would happen if the boy that never grows up, grew up.
Now I'm not saying it is the most fantastic film in the World, it certainly doesn't rival any films made nowadays when it comes to the special effects and even some of the acting can be a bit dodgy at times. Put these little qualms to one side and you have what is one of my favourite children's films of all times.
I know for a fact ...

Advantages: A change from the normal Pan story Disadvantages: Poor acting and writing
Hook is a variation on the Peter Pan story, but rather than Peter being the 12 or 13 year old boy he always was, we find that Peter is a middle aged man, and a miserable one at that.
Peter is now an a lawyer (no wonder he's miserable!!), spends more time concentrating on his clients than his family. He has been invited to be the key speaker at a function to honour Wendy, who's now an elderly lady who's devoted her life to helping orphans and Great ...

Peter Pan- the story
All boy's grow up… except one. Peter Pan!
When any little boy's flee from their pram and leave the company of their nanny, there is only one place for them to go, second star on the right and straight on till morning, that's when they will reach, Never Never land.
Never Never land is a far off place, run by gangs of boys (no girls as they are far to clever to then to flee their prams and leave their nanny's side).
The ...

...hooks and flowing syrups, Hofmann's Hook is a wonder to behold, sinister and sleazy with too much facial hair for his own good.
He just oozes unpleasantness along with the nasty smell, and you can't help rooting for him to see off the clearly distracted and directionless Williams.
It's quite a faithful reworking of the original story, just moving the action on a few decades with the grown up Pan back among the Lost Boys who have never grown ...

( Hook enters with all his pirates on a million dollar boat furnished with needlessly lavish taste)
Hook
Ha ha ha ha, I’ve kidnapped some children so I can trap Peter Pan, or something like that.
Peter
Give me back my kids or I’ll act badly and spoil the film.
Hook
No! Don’t do that, here, take them! Don’t spoil the film!
Peter
Too late.

Advantages: A great Movie, suitable for all the family Disadvantages: Mainly appeals to Children
...his children are kidnapped by Hook and he is forced to return to NeverNeverland to get them back. In doing so he has to remember how to be Peter Pan. The result is an entertaining movie that is mainly directed at children, but some adults will enjoy it the first time they see it. The cast includes Dustin Hoffman as Hook, Bob Hoskins as Smee and Robin Williams as Peter Panning. All put in very good performances and make it a film well worth showing ...

Hook represents so much to me. I believe that it has a great message for our society and the way we live today. In our adult life, we tend to leave (and sometimes scoff) our childhood behind as if it never existed at all. In the movie, Peter has grown up and forgotten his past. This change makes him a crass, terrible person, focusing only on work instead of his family. During the movie, he finds himself and his childhood memories and becomes a better, ...

Advantages: The story line Disadvantages: Not enough action
Hook is kind of like the original peter pan story but brought in to the future to see what actually happened to him. Its the adult and real version of the classic movie and brought in to a film instead of a cartoon.
Peter Pan finally came back to see his beloved Wendy one day but she was too old for him now and couldnt travel to never never land back with him. But he sees her daughter lieing in bed asleep and he fell deeply in love with her! He ...

Hook is one of those films that must have looked pretty good on paper, but just hasn't worked very well as a film, for some reason. A continuation of Peter Pan, Hook finds the boy who refused to grow up now a middle-aged, married accountant type who is too preoccupied with work to tend to his kids. However, when the kids are somehow kidnapped by Captain Hook and taken back to Never Never Land, Peter Pan is forced to return to the land he had long ...
