Advantages: Some funny moments Disadvantages: you will need some matchsticks to keep them eyes open
...heard about this latest film, Hollywood Homicide and seeing previews about it I was curious to get a taste of the action.
Harrison Ford stars as Joe Gavilan, a well known detective who cannot capture the same success in his personal life as he does at work. There are 3 ex-wives in Joe's life and he is well and truly stuck with a particularly bad investment in a large house that he intended to sell as part of his side real estate business. His partner, ... ...when something exciting happens(yawn)*
Hollywood Homicide is a cinematic misfire of epic and historical proportions. When the movie is obviously trying to be clever, no one is laughing because the jokes fall flat. The scenes were seriously jumbled and you couldn’t really get into the plot at times because it was so sloppy. There is only one amusing sequences that has Joe and K.C. being interrogated separately. They both do their best not to ...

Advantages: Fans of Two Stars Will No Doubt Want to Check it Out Disadvantages: Illogical, confusing plot and a bad script hurt it
...plays Joe Gavilan, a veteren Hollywood detective who is also juggling a second job in real estate. Hartnett is K.C. Caldin, a rookie Hollywood detective who is also juggling a second job as a yoga instructor; however, he is also thinking of ending his cop career in favor of acting (he's studying for a part in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE). They are, in predictable buddy-cop movie fashion, hooked up to solve a murder in the world of hip-hop recording, ... ...The first half of HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE is so slow, pretentious, and tiresome---but it soon makes a sudden turn, becomes a lot better and by the end, it seems to (barely) redeem itself. The film is directed with a considerable amount of energy by Ron Shelton, who wrote and directed BULL DURHAM and WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP. He struck gold earlier in the year when he directed the Kurt Russell drama DARK BLUE, about the days leading up to the L.A. Riots. Here, ...

Advantages: Some comedic moments Disadvantages: Just drags
...is what I experienced with Hollywood Homicide. The film stars Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett as two cops who moonlight as other things and pits them against some bad guys in investigating a multiple homicide. It hasn't received great reviews, and I could see why. The director, Ron Shelton, hasn't really grabbed the bull by the horns with this one. The actors appear uncomfortable and the plot is just too weak.
The plot is one that has been used ... ...Joe Gavilan (Ford) and the rookie K C Calden (Hartnett), to investigate the murders of four men in a club shooting. They uncover corruption as they worm their way towards a bigger plot that they find themselves caught up in. And, naturally, there is an internal investigation going on in the department, and the internal investigator just happens to have a long term grudge against Gavilan.
There are positives about the film. It does pass the time ...

Advantages: Harrison Ford, Amusing moments Disadvantages: Not sure what it wants to be
Hollywood Homicide was a bit of a flop on release. A budget of $75 million was spent but only $30 million was pulled back at the US box office. This could have been due in part to the overcrowded summer releases but also due to the fact that the film was poorly marketed and ultimately doesn’t know what it wants to be.
Joe Gavilan (Harrison Ford) is an LA cop who moonlights as a real estate broker. His young partner KC (Josh Hartnett) also longs ... ...But I’m not saying Hollywood Homicide is a bad movie. It’s actually an entertaining couple of hours and that’s mainly down to Harrison Ford. He brings the class to the movie and his performance is down to earth, likeable and effortless. Ford also seems to be having a great time with his character. In the middle of a silly love scene he takes time out to eat a doughnut, he also amuses in a farcical interrogation scene. In fact it seems that Ford is ...
