The cinematography in the opening scenes of the film create a true sense of horror, the wide shots of the camp look like the surface of a far away planet and the thousands of holes become thousands of craters. With nothing to do one night, and nothing of any note on the TV, I switched the the sky movie channels for entertainment. Again I found little immediate interest and so settled with the other half to watch a film called 'holes'. I missed the first few minutes, so didn't realise that this was a Disney film, but it certainly has that Disney cartoon quality - in a film. The way Holes the film turns a traditional setting of a lad in a hellish camp of mistreatment, hard taskmasters and fatal lizards, into a brilliantly bizarre generation-spanning saga concerning fate and other deep concerns, is surely its major plus point. Holes itself is a great thing to have on his burgeoning CV to start with, for it is a quite unique film, and all perfectly well made (OK, some of the CGI lizards and landscapes are a bit ropy, but you can’t have everything). ...gets all prisoners to dig holes is to try and find the treasure. As with any 'children's' story, good prevails and this warden gets arrested as with other camp staff. I throgoughly enjoyed this film, though I did get a little confused throughout and I am sure that probably is reflected in my review. I am glad I stuck with the film as it became easier to understand towards the end when the whole whole story unravelled. ...

...camp you had to dig holes to build character. That was their philosophy at camp green lake. So I won't reveal anymore, but its a great movie, and I recommend you buy it! ...theres more to digging these holes than just to stop them being naughty thats when he realises about kissin' kate barlows treasure. Zero finally looses digging the holes and lashes out with a shovel he runs of into the dessert never to be seen again... When this film first came out i thought it couldn\'t be anywhere as good as the book. But i was wrong! The first time i saw this film i had to go out and get it on DVD. Some films tend to go wrong when trying to interpret a book... this one doesn\'t. It\'s funny, light hearted and a feel good film. Holes is an exceptional adaptation by Louis Sachar. It is a great family film that crosses several genres together. Stanley Yelnats (Shia LeBoeuf) is a young teen whose family was cursed by a fortune-teller years back because of his pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. One day a pair of famous shoes falls on his head and he gets accused of stealing them and gets sent to Camp GreenLake. He and the other jailbirds have to dig holes to "build character" ...
...holes to find the buried treasure, hidden there years before by lovers Kate (teacher who made peaches) and Sam (onion man). Stanley befriends Zero, a young boy who happens to be a descendant of the fortune-teller who had cursed Stanley's family. ...Having read the great novel Holes by Louis Sachar, this film really does represent it well. It follows the unfortunate adventure of Stanley Yelnats which does eventually turn him fortunate. When he is walking home on his way back from school, a pair of sneakers from a very famous Baseball player falls from the sky on to his head. Before you know it he is arrested and sent to camp green lake. At camp green lake he is forced to dig holes, more holes ...
...flashbacks which explain why the children are having to dig. To begin with he doesn't get on well with the other children but is eventually taken in and is given the nick name 'caveman'. Although one person who is not very popular is zero who never speaks. He and Stanley become very close and when zero runs away Stanley follows him. They go on many an adventure and Stanley saves Zero's life. They also find treasure and for those who are yet to see ...

holes is a great movie for all the family its one of the greatest disney films with its brilliant story line and characters it has a great ending and everythin fits into place its a fun film for all the kids to watch with there parents and if your kids love disney films i asure you that they will love this one it has some great bonues features such as deleted scences actor interviews and loads more so this is a must have dvd for the family collection ...
