...would go and see the Harry Potter movie (Yes that is what this op is about..eventually!!), being ardent fans of the be-spectacled young magician and co, we had just not got around to booking tickets etc. Late on Saturday evening I just happened to mention it to hubby again and before I knew it I was on the ‘phone with his credit card clutched in my mitts..nyyhahahahah!! I had a feeling it was going to be one of those automated booking lines ... ...Imagine going to see Harry Potter with your 14year old son, putting your credit card in to get your tickets and receiving three seats for the late night showing of ‘Emanuelle does it again’, or worse!!

Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone, is the film, which is the talk of the world right now!
In the interests of research for my opinion, I thought I’d better check out this much talked about film and let you know what I thought! I duly purchased my ticket (along with my wife’s), and when the time came we ventured into the cinema (Warner village in Cambridge). ...I have only read one Harry Potter book, which luckily is the first one in the series 'The philosophers stone' so I was already introduced to the world of Harry Potter briefly.
The film opened with a baby Harry being delivered to the doorstep of his aunt and Uncle Dursley's house after his mum and dad where killed in a road accident(but we later discover that it was infact an evil wizard who had killed his parents but Harry has special powers which ... ...uncle and extremely spoilt cousin. Harry is neglected and left to live under the staircase in a cupboard and expected to wait hand and foot on his spoilt fat cousin. One day a letter arrives from Hogwarts school of wizardry but his uncle forbids him to read any of the letters which keep appearing for Harry until eventually Hagrid , a big burly giant comes to take Harry away and prepare him to enter Hogwarts school of Wizardry.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone came out in the cinema with much hype and having a house full of Harry Potter fans we just had to go and see it. When Christmas was over and the children were looking for a bit of entertainment I took them to the cinema to see the film they had been waiting for.

...saw a advance preview of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone yesterday. I went along with my girlfriend and her young cousins who were all Harry Potter mad. I myself have never read any of the books but obviously with all the publicity surrounding the books and the hype of the film, I wouldnt pass the chance of seeing it on the big screen.
Was it any good I hear you ask straight away. Well the short answer is yes its great! ...that is just pure magic. Harry Potter is one such movie and it comes as no surprise that the experience oozes pure pleasure in every celluloid moment. (Does it sound like I like this film yet, I wonder?)
For those still not in the know about Harry Potter, the story goes something like this; as a baby, an orphan son of a wizard and witch is left on the doorstep of a regular family. Advantages: A wonderful, magical story; Fabulous characters brought to life by great actors; Special effects, but not too much to detract from the story; The Quidditch match; The costumes and breathtaking scenary Disadvantages: If I have to say anything it was that it wasn't long enough. Hard to believe you were sat there for two and a half hours.
I did wonder about Harry Potter and the Philospoher's Stone and how it would translate into the world of film, and I did worry about it just a little, because I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and so are my children. I wondered because there was a lot of hype surrounding this film, and often once the hype machine has rolled into town and people have forked out their hard earned cash, they often realise they have been short changed and the ... ...So was Harry Potter worth all the hype, the discussions and quite frankly, was he worth the wait?

...either the pogo stick or Harry Potter - I know which I think is preferable and given that this article is on the film version of the young wizard's story, you know that I'm not talking about a plastic/metal pole on top of a spring.
There are already Harry Potter advent calendars, notebooks, mugs and models all over the place and clearly there is going to be little slackening of the hype in the months to come. There is a great deal of substance underlying ... ...onto cinema screens nationwide as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone commands all the attention of cinema audiences in the exciting run up to Yuletide.
The question of whether the film is actually any good is irrelevant as far as audience figures go, because inevitably box office figures are going to be absolutely immense.
