Obviously the Harry Potter film category was going to be popular subject to write on, what with all the hype and all. Oh well, here goes my bit just to add to the many others of you. Basically Harry Potter is an orphan, who is adopted by his uncle, the Dursley family after his parents die when Harry is a baby. He is a wizard, though he does not know it, and his new family are about as far away as you can be from any strange behavior and are a typical example of Muggles (non-wizard folk). They are rude, arrogant, pompous and Dudley is a Manchester United supporter. (look at the scene where all the letters are ...

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first part in the Harry Potter story.
The film is a fantastic magical adventure and if I hadn't read the book (twice) I would be 100% happy with it, but as I have read it (twice) I think I have to say that I was more than a little bit disappointed with this film, now don't get me wrong I did love it and I am very happy that I bought the DVD without going to the cinema to see it.

These special features are great and easy to use I mean I am 29 and not very good with my hubby's PS2 and I managed to navigate my way round ok. The only thing is that you have to either know Harry Potter well or have paid careful attention throughout the film to access some of the features so be warned.
Also, there are some deleted scenes that you find once you have got through the potions ...

Having read the first three Harry Potter books, I have been waiting with baited breath for this film. It was never going to be an easy film to make or to watch, with it being based on such an imaginative book. There was no way that everyone was going to be happy with the appearance of Harry and his friends, and with the setting of Hogwarts. Surely the hype received by the film has built it up to be something that it could never be... or did it?

Harry was taken to live with his muggle (non-magic) aunt and unle, and their awful son Dudley, where he lived in a cupboard under the stairs. The most notable absence for me was Peeves the ghost, who creates a lot of mischief in the book but was lacking from the film.
