When Harry Potter mania hit Britain I wondered what all the fuss was about and vowed I wouldn't be reading the books let alone going to see the film! Well now however long on I have read all four books and been to see the film, you could say I'm well and truly hooked. I wanted to make sure I'd read the book before I went to see the film and I'm glad now that I did, because although the film is amazing they do tend to leap from situation to situation. ...

I first saw Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at one of the local theatres. That is still the best way to see it in my opinion, but the DVD is a close second. ...avoid all the hype about Harry Potter during it's early days (which I think is a miracle due to all the hype surrounding the young wizzard). Yet, my parents did not and read the books (yes my parents - older people like him to), and eventually read them and got won over by the whole hogwarts/harry experience. This movie has two sides to it. One on side are the people who have not read the book, and must have been amazed by the special effects and storyline. The other side is the one I am on. Who would have thought that the combination of school story and magic would go down so well with adults and children? This movie is pretty faithful to JKR's novel. You don't need to read the book to enjoy the film, and reading the book afterwards will be rewarding too.
