Left a bitter taste.

Advantages: Good story, good characters
Disadvantages: gruesome and a little slow

...Lambs, this long awaited film, Hannibal has had many doubters from the time the filming was announsed. Anyone whos read the book will surely understand, I read it eagerly when it came out and was baffled at how anyone, even the legendary Ridley Scott would come up with a viable way to show some of the most gorey scenes imaginable. Those of you who are expecting a second silence of the lambs will be dissapointed, this film is very different altogether. ...
...popcorn and hotdog of course!) Hannibal is a good film, but I did find it a little slow, and as already expressed by the media, anyone who has read the book will see a very different ending. I wont detail either here, in case someone hasnt read or seen either yet! There a characters in the book not shown in the film who I believe help with character developement and understanding, eg Mason Vergers sister is not in the film but was a viable character ...

...The Lambs' focuses around Dr. Hannibal 'The Cannibal' Lecter. Hannibal's 4th victim (some weirdo freak with only a tiny bit of face) wants to see him suffer in huge amounts, and decides to use FBI agent Clarice Starling as bait. Lecter gets in touch with Starling and gives her very cunning clues to his whereabouts. However, a police officer from Florence has already seen through Lecters disguise and gets in touch with the 4th victim bloke, for a ...

For example during one murder scene, Lecter slices a mans stomach open and hangs him from a balcony, all of his guts come out, and you see them splatter on the pavement below. So if your squemish don't see this film, if you love gore like me, go and see it. If your somewhere inbetween go and see it, it is trully a very ...

Advantages: superb film
Disadvantages: hungry in need of thirds

Its been ten years of waiting and the change of a lead character but the doctor with a serious case of body part munchies is back.... and back for seconds. What can be said about Dr Hanibal Lecter? Why is it people love him and fear him at the same time i believe it comes down to the social skills and no i dont mean having people over for dinner or do i? The good Dr has found his nich in life as a Librarian in Florence and is seen to be a perfect ...

...of scenes throughout. In fact, Hannibal the film is a textbook example of how to bloster up poor material. Where Harris threw away the potientially interesting events of Lecter's time hiding in Florence, the script makes the most of them, with Scott's direction and the acting both at their strongest. Harris' more ridiculous characters, such as the nut-cracking muscle-bound lesbian, are removed altogether. Lecter's disfigured nemesis Mason Verger ...
...unblieveably dumb ending of Harris' Hannibal has also been adapted, so at least it doesn't totally trash Starling's character. Word of mouth being what this, the gory brain eating scene will probably be the reason most people go to see the film. As England is a country where the films of goremeisters such as Lucio Fulci remain heavily censored or banned, the dodgy CGI on display may even shock some. ...

oh hello Clarice

Advantages: Anthony Hopkins
Disadvantages: A wee bit long

This film began with an exciting introduction. With the scene being set it all ended up leading to an all guns blazing shoot out within minutes of the start of the film. Wow guns going off everywhere, and everyone seemingly being shot. Well that certainly seemed to pave the way for an exciting film. However, this did seem to be as exciting as it got. For those viewers who are all out action adventure types this was probably not a film for you. Neither ...
...some of the scenes could be describes as graphical in the least. What seemed to hold this film together most of all was the performance turned in by the great Anthony Hopkins. I am a big fan of his and think he is one of the best actors in the world today. Throughout the film he was able to portray this figure of evil whilst always smiling, most bizarre. He also seemed to cope with food that was thrown on his plate, as it were. Alongside him as ...

got a good red wine to go with this

Advantages: chilling viewing
Disadvantages: needed a swifter start

Hannibal is a film that has been in the making for so long, It's had a fruitful 10 year digesting period, for all it's fans to get geared up for another 2+ hours a mind chilling drama. While Foster(Jodie) chose for her own reasons to turn down a reprised role that made her well known once more as an actress. Following where Hannibal went from the silence of the lambs could have been shortened, without giving the feeling of "when is the film going to start" which it produced with a sharp accuracy. ...fabulous Anthony Hopkins as 'Dr Hannibal Lecter' or 'Hannibal the cannibal' as he is fondly known. The heroine 'Clarice Starling' was originally played by Jodie Foster although after turning the second film down, Julianne Moore took over the role. Although Julianne Moore is very good in the role of 'Clarice' I couldn't help wondering how different the film would have been if Jodie Foster had continued with the part. Hopkins as usual was very good and portrayed the sophisticated flesh eater perfectly (I'm still wondering whether this is a compliment or not!). It is quite clear why the film is an 18- there is ...

The sequel begins with Clarice Starling (played by Julianne Moore replacing Jodie Foster) leading an attempt to arrest a female drug dealer. The end of the film thankfully differs from the book, and we are not treated to a coupling of the two lead characters, before they jet off around the world to feast on the population. A very well produced film, and a must for those prepared to endure the more horrific of scenes. ...

...to mention Michael Mann's Manhunter), Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lecter was a creature of the dark, rationed out in icy little doses. In Ridley Scott's Hannibal, he's all over the screen like a rash, moseying around Florence, skipping through a Yankee fairground, even (at one stage) winking at the camera. The thrill has gone; that old black magic vanished in a puff of smoke. To watch Hannibal is like charting the spread of some particularly virulent ...

This film was terrible! I admit, I wasn't a lover of Silence of the Lambs but I though I'd give it a chance, after all how many years has it taken them to produce the sequel? Antony Hopkins was as wonderful as ever, and although Julianne whatever her name is was very good, you can't help but compare her to Jodi Foster. Why wasn't she in the sequel? The film is very slow to start with and is not one of these films were you can get up halfway, nip ...

I'm sorry but if I ever came across a man like Hanibal, who wanted me to peel my face, I would run a mile, not stay ...

I have to say i didn't particularly want to see this film as i blood and guts does make me feel a bit queezy, but i was pleasantly suprised. I see that lots of people here are comparing this film to Silence of the Lambs, which is a good thing to do, but, as i haven't seen the prior film i thought i'd give an opinion purely on this film.
