Halloween is one of the most loved and possibly the most famous horror series of all time. It all began with Halloween, directed by John Carpenter which was released in 1978, almost thirty years ago now. It was only intended to be a small film for drive-in movies but word of mouth spread and it went on to be released worldwide, making millions. It is still ranked as one of the greatest horror movies or just movies ... ...which are just laughable now, Halloween is still terrifying to people who have never seen it. It starred Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, a teenage babysitter who is for some reason being stalked by this masked maniac. It all comes to a soaring finale where Michael Myers (the masked maniac) is shot 6 times but still manages to get up and walk away...
It was only a matter of time before a sequel was called for after the originals success and Halloween ...

Advantages: Original enough to be interesting Disadvantages: Serial killers are so not fashionable any more
...I found myself quite enjoying Halloween Resurrection, which had just enough new ideas and sparkle to convince me that it was worth making.
In the last instalment of the Michael Myers series, we watched his sister decapitate him at the roadside when she finally realised that he was beyond redemption. At the start of Resurrection we find out that she has been confined to a mental institution on the basis that she is completely insane. It transpires ... ...John Carpenter’s original Halloween film remains one of the most critically acclaimed horror films of all time. Halloween literally set a precedent that very few films have ever managed to follow, and this applies just as much to the deluge of sequels as it does to the competition. However, demand for more of Michael Myers never seems to diminish, and the sequels just keep on coming. It’s an interesting reflection on today’s cinema ...

Advantages: Amazingly brings some new ideas to the series, quite intriguing for an hour, second best in the series Disadvantages: slasher movies are so...'80s', blood and gore seems somewhat minimal, does the world need more of these movies?
...more pain in yet another Halloween movie! I shelled out to see Jason X earlier in the year , stupid I know, but having seen the other 1,835 movies in the Friday The 13th franchise it seemed silly not to see the latest as well. I'm afraid I saw this one under the same principle and yes, if they make another Critters movie I'll see that, or another Leprecaun one and so on. That said, I was actually quite entertained by it... Umm to qualify that last ... ...and wearing a Michael Myers halloween mask so she takes little precendence in the movie at all. Instead, we get a 'teched up' version of the Halloween story where the principals of reality TV and the internet come into play. You see, some bright sparks have the idea that they are going to pay some students to stay one night in the old Myers house on Halloween night. The house will be fitted up with cameras all over the place, they'll wear microphones ...

...just in time for the Halloween season of 2002. Resurrection had a bumpy ride getting to our cinemas. After the rather unexpected success of H20, the planned final film, Dimension decided to raise the knife once again and a sequel was soon green lit. It seems that studios just don’t know when to stop when they see the opportunity for more money to come their way. That was in 1999. From then on it’s been subject to more cuts, edits and name changes ... ...much as I love the Halloween series I was dubious about an eighth instalment. What made me concerned was, for me, Halloween went out on a high with a fantastic ending in H20. It was final (nothing its much more final than the killer getting his head chopped off), it wrapped it up even if it didn’t address some of the sequels, and it was a polished effort. Now an eighth sequel comes along with is propelled mainly by greed, though Halloween 4 also ...

...7th sequel to Halloween. Halloween number 8. Halloween Resurrection. Quite aptly on Halloween.
Firstly, I will just say that I have not seen all the Halloween movies. In fact until last night, I had only seen the original, which is superb.
After a short intro sequence explaining why Mike Myers can still be alive after clearly having his head cut off and the death, (yes you read right, death) of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), this film turns ... ...idea is that a group of students enter the childhood home of Mike Myers for a night. These six lucky (? ahem) people are the stars of a live internet broadcast of a program called 'Dangertainment'. The director of this program, Freddie, was played by Busta Rhymes. Who is, well how can I put this without sounding cruel, absolutely rubbish. He's a terrible actor. Redemption comes in the fact that he gets the best lines in the movie. In true Bruce Campbell ...

Advantages: Myers is kept in the shadows and is once again fear-inducing, great death scenes, watchable acting. Disadvantages: If you don't like Horror films, those flaws plague this movie as well.
...formulaic; I wouldn't take a Halloween film any other way. The same can be said about the simple albeit ridiculous plot. Apparently Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) decapitated the wrong man in "H20" as Michael had the bright idea to switch looks with an EMT. While investigating his corpse, Michael suddenly sprang back to life, crushed the EMT's larynx, and disguised him as our family-obsessed serial killer. The excuse utilized to bring Michael back may ... ...The 13th" films to resurrect Jason thankfully. It doesn't get to the point where an electrical charge from an object restarts his heart.

...a possible franchise. Five more Halloween films followed, each of them never coming close to the original, however they still had some enjoyment in them. Then in 1998, Jamie Lee Curtis was enticed to reprise her role when teen slashers were the in thing. Halloween H20 turned out to be a decent film which was well shot, well acted, very tightly paced and generally delivered everything you’d want in a good horror film. Above all else it appeared to ... ...years. His connection to the Halloween movies was that he directed the second film that was described by Curtis in previous movies as a ‘bad movie’. The direction on this movie is incredibly bad, for some reason the majority of the film is shot in the dark so you can’t really see anything. The scares are non-existent as the editing and pacing of scenes look like a monkey who hadn’t been fed for a few days cut them. The final cut also looks like it ...

OK so erm …. Why Halloween Resurrection? That may be my only question.
As you know I love my horror and Halloween is considered highly in my favourites, but to be honest I didn't like this one to much. After Halloween H2O I thought that was a great way to end the Halloween, BUT NO! And you never guess what there are plans on making more Halloweens. After the Oh My God ending in Halloween H2O, who could of thought that yet again Michael Myers would ... ...They decide that on Halloween night they'll their live reality show in the Myers family Home. ...that H20 had revitialising the Halloween franchise there was no doubt that it wouldn't be the last we would see of Michael Myers. The question was how they would do it after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) decapitated her brother at the end of the aforenamed film. The house itself has sat empty for many years, and is about to become the focus of a web broadcast which is being set up by Tyra Banks and Busta Rymes. They ...

Advantages: engaging and is quite scary, nice storyline Disadvantages: the series had ended here
Halloween Resurrection is the last installment in the Halloween franchise. Despite the Halloween remake in 2007, this is the last part of Halloween which has not been continued. The end is here because Laurie is no longer alive which shocked me. At the beginning of the film, I thought Laurie would have a chance to kill Michael Myers when he was hung by the rope but tables had turned and the opposite happened. I was so shocked when I saw Laurie fall ... ...there, scared to do anything near him she unzips the sack covering him, but I thought Michael never dies? Yes that is true when he opens his eyes at the very end. This is a great film to watch and I hope more Halloween movies release in the near future. ...
