Advantages: A timeless classic of a Teen Slasher film Disadvantages: None that I can think of
With today being Halloween I thought that I'd write a nice topical review of one of my favourite horror films of all time, this of course being John Carpenter's 'Halloween', a film that I'm sure most of you have seen by now given that it tends to be shown on one channel or another pretty much every year. Tonight the film can be found on BBC1 at a quarter to midnight, so for those of you that have not yet seen the film then there is no excuse not ... ...That is until one cold Halloween night in 1963 when Michael Myers, a six year old Haddonfield resident picks up a kitchen knife before proceeding to go upstairs and brutally murder his older sister of 17. Coming home from a night out, Michael's parents then find him standing outside with the knife still in his hand and a clown mask covering his face looking ever the guilty culprit. As a result of Michael's actions, he is sentenced to Smith's Grove ...

Halloween Unmasked 2000 – This was worth the £12.99 on its own. It’s really for the die hard fans of Halloween. It tells you a lot of background info and is with real interviews of people who worked on the film.
Trivia – I really liked this section. Granted it’s a ‘read only’ bit but there are some funny facts you learn about Halloween and the follow ups and it’s worth a 5 minute read!
• Where can I buy it?
My copy ... ...before I bought my copy from HMV on a boy one get one free. I don’t think that offers on at the moment as they seem to be having huge sales. Still, I had a look about online and found it for the following prices in the following places;

Advantages: fresh, timeless Disadvantages: ill tell you if i think of one
...fantastic, probably best viewed on halloween with the lights turned out. Although, I wouldnt advise this for those with a nervous disposition. Definitely worth watching. Hopefully, you'll enjoy it as much as I do
Halloween is the first in a mini series of films, the second of which is 'Halloween H20' this is also a great film, which is set 20 years later than the first film - I digress! The point Im trying to make, is that...without a great plot, ...

Advantages: See where the horror cliches BEGAN Disadvantages: The suspense may kill you
...who babysits on that fateful Halloween night when Michael escapes from the mental institute and comes back to town. The good, clean-living heroine she is every bit as angelic as she first appears (if you don't hold a small bout of cannabis smoking against her). After she puts the keys to his old deserted house under the doormat as a favour to her estate agent father Michael begins to watch and stalk her. He eventually follows her to the house where ... ...is deliberately kept de-humanised. He is mainly seen in shadow, never speaks and wears a ghostly white mask for much of the film. We often see the aftermath of his deeds without watching him carry them out and he moves in a stiff unlifelike way. He becomes the 'boogey man' which the children Laurie babysits speak of. His psychiatrist describes him as beyond reason, which seems a fair reckoning of this shell of a being. The end of the film is a masterpiece ...

...edge of your seat all the way through. It is definately one of the best slasher films of all time. At the end of this film it leaves you wondering if Michael is really dead or alive. You will have to get Halloween 2 to find out........ ...

...lee curtis. the magority of the film is him stalking her. this is the best halloween film made by far, john carpinter has done an excelent job!

Advantages: scary and original Disadvantages: lame when compared to modeern horror
