HALLOWEEN was a deceptively simple horror script that took on completely unexpected life in the hands of thoughtful director John Carpenter, co-writer/producer Debra Hill and actor...
more...Jamie Lee Curtis. As the now familiar story goes, it's been years since crazed killer Michael Myers was hospitalized for murdering his sister. Now he's escaped and on the loose on, of course, Halloween night. The resulting picture was agonizingly thrilling and Carpenter's quiet moments were filled with searing dread that were almost physically painful to endure.
Twenty-five years later, HALLOWEEN has proved a leader in the horror genre and a classic that has not lost its ability to scare the pants off of audiences and make their blood turn cold. This wonderful package, HALLOWEEN - 25TH ANNIVERSARY, celebrates this landmark anniversary with audio commentary and lots of other extras.

HALLOWEEN: The curse of William Shatner!!!
Review of Halloween (25th Anniversary Edition) by ultrafrosty

Advantages: An absolute classic of the horror genre!!!
Disadvantages: John Carpenter just makes crap films these days!!!

...here as the version of Halloween I own on DVD has been superseded by at least one more version since I bought it - so my DVD review would not reflect everything available out there on the market at the moment!!! Anyway... Here goes!!! -------------------------------------------------- Back in the Spring of 1978, John Carpenter filmed a horror movie in a remarkable 21 days and on a shoe-string budget that would change horror films forever... The popcorn will fly!
Review of Halloween (25th Anniversary Edition) by boomgoat

Advantages: Teen-slasher classic
Disadvantages: none

Halloween is THE teen-slasher movie, and until 'Blair Witch Project', it was the highest grossing independent movie of all time. The story goes: after being imprisoned for fifteen years in a mental hospital for the murder of his sister, Michael Myers has escaped to wreck havoc in the town where he first began his killings. Directed by horror legend John Carpenter, and starring 'scream queen' Jamie Lee Curtis and veteran actor Donald Pleasance, this ... Read review

The Low-budget smash hit!
Review of Halloween (25th Anniversary Edition) by VampirePrincessLizzy

Advantages: Gripping, white knuckle film
Disadvantages: poor picture due to the date and budget

Halloween actually came from "Assault on Precinct 13" another one of John Carpenter films. But Assault on precinct 13 wasn't to be John Carpenters greatest hit. (We all know what his greatest film was wink wink). Halloween was shot in only 21 days back in 1978, with one of the smallest movie budgets ever $300.000 but one also with the greatest profit. This horror tail of Halloween has for me one of the greatest storylines, and set the trend for all ... Read review
