Advantages: An absolute classic of the horror genre!!! Disadvantages: John Carpenter just makes crap films these days!!!
...here as the version of Halloween I own on DVD has been superseded by at least one more version since I bought it - so my DVD review would not reflect everything available out there on the market at the moment!!! Anyway... Here goes!!!

Back in the Spring of 1978, John Carpenter filmed a horror movie in a remarkable 21 days and on a shoe-string budget that would change horror films forever...
This ... ...Now Myers mask in the Halloween series is a pretty screwed up white, emotionless mask with a shock of brown hair which to be honest IS pretty bloody scary...
BUT...
Did you know that the mask that Myers wore in Halloween was actually a William Shatner 'Captain Kirk' mask which was bought by the production crew for the incredible cost of $1.98 as they didn't have the money to design and make a mask? They trimmed away Captain James Tiberius Kirk's ...

Halloween is an American Independent horror film which was made in 1978. The film centres around events occuring in the fictional midwestern town of Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night.
The film is directed by John Carpenter, and also co-written by him along with Debra Hill.
At the beginning of the film it is Halloween night in 1963 and a six year old Michael Myers butchers his seventeen year old sister ,Judith, to death with a carving knife. ... ...major problem is that on Halloween night in 1978, exactly fifteen years on from his previous murder, Michael escapes from the vicinity because of lax supervision. Halloween is THE teen-slasher movie, and until 'Blair Witch Project', it was the highest grossing independent movie of all time.
The story goes: after being imprisoned for fifteen years in a mental hospital for the murder of his sister, Michael Myers has escaped to wreck havoc in the town where he first began his killings.
Directed by horror legend John Carpenter, and starring 'scream queen' Jamie Lee Curtis and veteran actor Donald Pleasance, ... ...EXTRAS

Advantages: Gripping, white knuckle film Disadvantages: poor picture due to the date and budget
Halloween actually came from "Assault on Precinct 13" another one of John Carpenter films. But Assault on precinct 13 wasn't to be John Carpenters greatest hit. (We all know what his greatest film was wink wink). Halloween was shot in only 21 days back in 1978, with one of the smallest movie budgets ever $300.000 but one also with the greatest profit. This horror tail of Halloween has for me one of the greatest storylines, and set the trend for all ... ...Its Starts out on Halloween night 1963 when little Michael Myers whom is only six years old murders his older teenage sister Judith Myers, (in a very cheesy way I might add but its what makes it fun to watch). Michael gets sentenced to Smith Grove-Warren County Sanatorium, his locked away for 15 years. October 30th 1978 Michael escapes, only to return to his hometown Haddonfield.
Laurie Strode (Scream Queen Jamie lee) is a quite school girl, she ...
