I mention it's the 2007 version because Hairspay was originally made in 1988 by John Waters and started Divine, Sonny Bono and well- known chat show host Ricki Lane and was known for being one of filmmaker Waters' less outrageous movie and one of his most entertaining and accessible films. This is a great film, well worth spending money on. The extra features on the DVD are brilliant, including a sing-a-long feature and deleted scenes. Storyline:- the film is set in 1962 in the American town of Baltimore. The main character Tracy Turnblad has one ambition, to dance on the famous Corny Collins show.
