...still love it so when Grease came out on dvd at the end of last year it was top of my birthday list!
The film stars Australian singer Olivia Newton-John, in her debut role and a young and thinner John Travolta! It’s set in Rydell High School in the 1950s and boasts an impressive cast such as Frankie Avalon as the Teen Angel.

Notable mention goes to Stockard Channing for her fab portrayal of hard lady Betty Rizzo, the coolest lady at Rydell. Rizzo and Kenickie were always the top couple in this film to me! And her song ‘There are worse things I could do’ shows that as well as act, the lady can sing too!

Grease came out in 1978, the year I turned nine. My Mum took me to see it at the cinema, and I enjoyed it so much, that I dragged her back for a second time. Little did I know, that nearly twenty-five years later, it would still be a hugely popular film, and one of my won children's favourite movies.
All those years ago, I was swept away by the romance of it all, its almost fairytale qualities. Danny – a good looking American guy, with dark ... ...been singing a song from Grease more often than not. It is such a feel-good movie, you just want to sing, dance, solve Third World debt, end wars, and teach Eminem his ‘please’ and ‘thankyou’s. But when I watch it these days, sat alongside my eight and ten year old daughters who are huge fans, I feel slightly embarrassed about it. Why? Because, let’s face it, Grease is about sex! Danny’s mates expect to get a girl ...

...having reached its 28th year, Grease still appeals to audiences both young and old, and each year gains even more legions of fans. Following the on-off romance between Danny and Sandy over the period of a school year, we get treated to a plethora of memorable songs and several sub stories. These include the ongoing rivalry between the T-Birds and rival gang the Scorpions, several romances between the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, a dance off where ... ...to still being school age. Grease was the perfect vehicle for Travolta as it allowed him to build on his success from his previous role as Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever and to catapult him into the world of being a sex symbol. Opposite Travolta was Olivia Newton-John (Xanadu) as the prim and proper Sandy. Although she was great as Sandy, and looked pretty hot, this film left her being type cast, and pretty much killed her career. Amongst the ...

Grease celebrates it's silver anniversary this year. Believe it or not, the film was released in 1978, when I was the same age as my daughter is now, and as it is such a special anniversary, there has been a recent surge in attention and coverage of the film and the cast. It has lost none of it's magic in the years that have passed, and is as popular as it ever was, maybe even more so at the moment. This was always meant to be a lighthearted look ... ...watch Beverley Hills 90210, but Grease encapsulated the fantasy more than the books I read, or the television shows I watched. Looking back, it is so obvious that the cast were way past the age of attending high school (most were closer to 30 than 20!), but it did not matter, nor did it matter that it was set in the 50's, as somehow this added to the mystery and the romance. I wanted to be in their gang! Grease was and still is the word, and I for ...

Grease is the epitome of everything young teenagers want to be: slick, cool, fast and gorgeous. As a film it just cannot date, as more and more people are converted to follow the lives of Danny, Sandy, Rizzo and the gang. I first saw this film when I was about three (my older sisters played the video throughout my childhood, and I ended up buying my own copy when they moved out) and have watched it countless times, because it just does not get boring.

Grease is most definitely the word. There are so many strengths to this movie that it is difficult to decide where to being. Firstly, I have seen it countless times at the cinema, and countless times in my own home, and can tell you that, unlike almost every other film, Grease loses none of its charm with a home audience. It is a fantastic film to watch with friends, but also on your own, to cheer yourself up, to liven the ...

Grease is a classic. I've been meaning to buy the soundtrack for so long, its unbelievable. And I've finally got it (and its constantly being played) but thats a whole other review. Well, what can I say? This musical film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John is one of the all time rock'n'roll classics! Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta did an excellent job of this 1950's era musical movie which is a classic.
Sandy was in America and was pretty soon heading back to Australia when she had a summer fling with Danny Zuko.
Danny Zuko was the polite gentleman in the company of sweet and innocent Sandy.

I first saw Grease when it came out in 1978 at the tender age of 12.
