This is the first film that established Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as a Hollywood force to watch. Robin Williams is great as the pscyhologist-with-his-own-demons; Damon and Affleck as great friends, from the same place but radically different in their prospects. Damon plays a super-genius locked in the underclass of Boston, with Affleck his best friend. This film was also the breakout for Minnie Driver, who played Damon's love interest. This is a great drama, an interesting story and a nice romantic ending. It doesn't have a classic happy ending, but it does have one that is satisfying. These are characters the viewer cares about.
