Gone In 60 Seconds is about Man's obsession with cars to the exclusion of just about everything else ... and it is wonderful, vibrant stuff, totally entrancing from first moment to last.
Nicholas Cage is the cool dude outlaw hero, Memphis/Randall Rains, a reformed car thief who is 'persuaded' back to his old ways when a good old British psychopathic villain (played enthusiastically and wholeheartedly nastily by ... ...does him a favour...
And the favour? Quite simple really, just steal 50 exotic and very rare cars within the space of four days for a job lot order. For that Rains gets his brother and 200,000 big ones (or dollars even).
Rains, of course, pulls together his very own version of the League of Gentlemen, made up partly of refugees from The Lost Boys, partly of old time acquaintances and partly of the dreadlocks and large chest of Angelina Jolie (blondely ...

...giving it a modern twist. Gone In 60 Seconds is a remake of the 1974 Swedish movie of the same name and therefore we can’t really be surprised at the deeply cliche ridden plot as all the things which have been done to death in the last 30 years were probably original at the time. Hollywood seems to be of the opinion that if a formula is broken then there is no need to fix it, which is fine, but it makes for some pretty boring cinema viewing ... ...a long time ago. Gone In 60 Seconds was a Summer movie, and therefore you can’t really expect it to be anything more than a bit of fluff, all action and no substance and that is precisely what you get here. Thats not to say that it isn’t fun though and as long as you check your brain at the door then you’ll probably love it. So...utilising every cliche in the book, the acknowledged master of the action flick, Jerry Bruckheimer, ...

Advantages: Fast paced, action packed, good cast Disadvantages: None I can think of really.
Well, as I was strolling through Asda last night I spotted this film on sale for the bargain price of £9.97 so I decided I'd make the purchase. Having already seen the film before a long time ago I remember it being a fairly good film and wouldn't mind adding it to my collection, so I did.
So, I got home, settled down and watched the film on a quite Friday night...

As you might of guessed, Kip messes up and the cops are on to him and the gang so they do a runner. So, now the wood-loving bad guy isn't in the mood for a party and holds Kip ranson. This is where Nicolas Cage (Kip's older brother Memphis Raines) comes in. He is an Ex car theif who, when he stole cars, was the best in the game. Memphis now has the ...

This movie is a very average movie in my opinion. The title tends to suggest that the cars need to be stolen in 60 seconds. Not True! The movie starts very promisingly with a quickfire start but then becomes rather dull and the only things worth watching is when Vinnie is on screen. Vinnie only actually speaks in the end of the movie which is the winning performance for me. The character development on this movie and they only allow an insight into ...

Advantages: Genuinely hard to distinguish.... Disadvantages: It’s dauntingly insipid and annoying in places.
As much as one can enjoy an action film that bears no resemblance to reality, one can suspect that there should be a lot of action in it.
Surprisingly, it takes a while for the big set-piece to emerge (if my watch was right, it happened twenty minutes before the end....).
Unfortunately, it wasn’t much to behold BUT kind of thrilling. It’s telling that a flick of a switch on a gadget makes a very big impact. This is of course from that ... ...colliding? Check! Does the film make any sense? Er....kind of.
The essence of the film is that Randall ‘Memphis’ Raines (Nicholas Cage) has to steal fifty vintage cars in Los Angeles within three days for a British gangster, Raymond (Christopher Eccleston).
Just why should he? Because his inept younger brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) has run foul of aforementioned gangster....and Raymond will kill Kip if he doesn’t do what he says ...

Gone in 60 Seconds
This film is any car lovers dream, if you’re into shed loads of horse power, sexy lines (of a car that is), and top quality car chases, then this film is for you. Not only do you get the chance to drool over them, but also you get to drive them around really fast, ... ...stars Nicholas Cage who plays the role of the rather stupidly named Memphis Raines, who was supposedly the best car jacker in the business, and is brought out of retirement to save his dim-witted brother who has got himself into a spot of bother with the local criminals. His task is to fill an order for fifty top of the range cars.
With the help of his old crew, including Angelina Jolie (chick), and hard man Vinnie Jones, they manage to steal all ...

Advantages: Great action shots, great cars Disadvantages: some really cheesey dialogue
Gone in 60 Seconds is a well produthriller, with great action and driving sequences, although it does contain more a few cheesey lines, and some of the plot developments are somewhat predictable. A great choice if (like me) you're after a couple of hours of great entertainment, but expect to find any great 'deep and meaningful' dialogue or life changing drama. A great performance from Vinnie Jones though, and a most for all car lovers ! I was surpirised ...

Gone In 60 Seconds is an action-packed film bringing your ride home onto higher speed levels. Produced (but not directed) by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and directed by Dominic Sena (who directed Kalifornia), Gone In 60 Seconds is a remake of the 1974 car-theft film with the same title. I like movies that involve stealing something in the tightest situations. Aided with tools that make opening car doors a piece of cake. Nicholas Cage is Randall "Memphis" Raines who is a retired ...

Advantages: Plot, acting, action and very nice cars Disadvantages: none
I saw Gone in 60 Seconds in the cinema and thought it was excellent. It has some of the nicest cars you will ever see taking part in the best cars chases ever displayed on the silver screen. It is a very very good film and manages to get a good balance between plot and action.

Little brother Kip (Giovanni ... ...messed it up and the cops found the cars. Now Randall must steal the same 50 cars in one night or mad Englishman Raymond Calitri (Christopher Ecceleston) will kill Kip. Throughout the police keep a close eye on Randall after his reappearance in LA making the job even harder.
Nicolas Cage is superb as the retired car thief forced back into the world of crime. He really shows concern for his little brother but then manages to be mister cool when it ...

Randall 'Memphis' Raines, played by Nicolas (Leaving Las Vegas, The Rock) Cage is a retired car thief, who long ago left everyone he knew to live a clean life. When his brother Kip (Giovanni (Saving Private Ryan, 'Friends') Ribisi) begins to follow in his footsteps as a car thief and manages to get himself in trouble, Memphis is forced out of retirement to save him.

There isn't much of a story line, basically steal lots of cars please, and it never really got going except for the final chase scene. A cop from Memphis' previous life, and a local gang who have had there turf invaded, there one minute, then rather tamely dismissed the next attempt to provide a bit of depth. The obligatory, all too predictable ...

There's only one reason I saw this film - someone at work suggested it. I always have a story for my reasons for seeing films. Again, I liked this film quite a bit. I went out and bought it for myself.
Having seen this film about 30 times now, I feel I have a right to tell you it's brilliant. It's strength is in it's action, not the storyline. That's why it's re-watchable, the storyline has some holes in it. For instance, the way you break into ... ...Things like locations and timing are incorrect, getting from one place to another so quickly.
The story itself is just inconceivable I guess. It's not plausible for someone to do. But this doesn't matter, it's a good movie.
I don't often like Nick Cage, but I loved this movie.

...star of the newest film Gone in 60 Seconds once more performs as a good/bad guy by breaking almost every speed limit and law you can imagine in this high-speed thriller. Cage plays Memphis Raines, a retired car thief returning to the field for one last plunder to save his blundering brother Kipp (Giovanni Ribisi). This movie showed what it was like to be a car thief in the 70’s, when cars were treasured and special. ( I wouldn’t recommend quitting your day job though, this is a very dangerous career.) One of the theme songs, "Low Rider" says it all, while the whole crew stands transfixed, as though paying homage to the deed they’re to perform. In this movie, ...

Gone in 60 seconds...... well, I would have done just that, if it had'nt been for the many, many sexy cars and one, even sexier Angelina Jolie.
Although the plot was thin (ex-carjacker comes back to town and has to boost 50 ultimate cars in three days to save his little brother's life), and the acting very weak (Nik Cage is capable of a lot more - see Leaving Las Vegas), this film has the nack of making you feel almost invicible (the 'rocky' syndrome), ...
