Advantages: Nic Cage Disadvantages: Not long enough
Nicolas Cage one of my most favourite actor stars as Randall ‘Memphis’ Raines in this fast and adrenaline packed action film. Cage plays the older brother of Kip played by Giovanni Ribisi. Kip gets in trouble whist stealing cars and Memphis has to save him. To do this Memphis has to steal 50 cars in 4 days. To help him out he gets his fiends involved, which include Robert Duvall, Vinnie Jones and Angelina Jolie.
My favourite part of ... ...trying to get the last car in before the line. He has the police chasing him and he is against the clock so he has to race the 67 Shelby Mustang GT 500 as fast as he can. I thought the way they stole the cars was cool and after watching this film it did actually inspire me to steal a car. The whole adrenaline rush you would get, but thankfully I have gotten over that fantasy.
Jerry Bruckheimer one of my favourite producers produced this film. He ...

Perhaps the only exciting scene in the movie was the first one. I got pumped up and ready to watch a movie full of fast-paced and dare-devil car chases. Instead, all I saw was a boring movie full of childish dialogue, cheesy cliches, and a mediocre final chase. For a movie that had such a contrived plot, too much time was spent setting that wanna-be plot up. For literally the first 80 minutes, you know exactly what's going to happen and you have ... ...helpers. The ultra-lame lines that Cage's and Jolie's characters utter as well as the idiotic looks the people in the movie give each other really brings a big-name movie like this quite a bit of shame.
Additionally, if I'm going to watch a movie about car thiefs, I'd at least like to see half of the cars stolen driven away fast. Only the Porsche at the beginning and the Mustang at the end were the only stolen cars that were burning any rubber (although ...

Advantages: Good Action, Disadvantages: Not Original
Gone in 60 Seconds is a action movie with a very simple plot, the cast includes stars such as Nicholas Cage and Vinnie Jones.
The story beings when a group of car theives get a order for 50 cars, unfortunately they decide to steal a car from a car showroom which results in there hideout getting discovered by the police and all the cars which they had stolen being impounded by the police.
This is where Nicholas Cage enters the film, he plays a retired ... ...so that his younger brother didnt enter the same crimeworld, ironically he did anyway. This is where the action hots up and basically the car gang have to start all over again and get 50 cars within 2 days, the first night they decide to do research on the cars that have been ordered, for example find out where they are located and scout the area for possible problems. This leaves them with one night to steal fifty cars, the action in this night ...

I'm sorry to go against popular opinion here but this film is not "quality stuff". It's a wonder this type of film can be made and taken seriously. I know some of you may call me boring for slating this movie and I don't care, this film sucks 100%. So what do we have - Nic Cage in the lead role - why? This is Nic Cage, a great actor, one of the best of our time appearing in a movie with awfuil actors, awful scripts and frankly quite boring set- pieces. ... ...of Britain? I seriously hope not. This man CANNOT act. The part he plays requires a lot of grunting and mean looks {so basically it's Vinnie Jones as...Vinnie Jones} and the one piece of dialogue he has at the end is delivered like that of the kid in the school play who really thought he had talent - he didn't. The rest of the cast slip by largely unnoticed although like Nic Cage why is a capable actor such as Angelina Jolie appearing in a film like ...

Advantages: great action and cars Disadvantages: might not apeal to those with no intrest in cars
It tells the story of a reformed car 'booster' (Raines, played by Nicholas Cage), who finds, for one night alone, he has to return to his previous existence in order to save his brother's life.
Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi) runs into a spot of bother with a crime boss called Raymond Calitri (Christopher Ecclestone), leaving Cage with no choice but to steal 50 classic or high performance cars. The problem is this has to be done in the space of one ... ...crew in order for the job to be done right, masterminded by his mentor, Otto (Robert Duvall) and including his ex-love, Sway (Angelina Jolie). The group of reprobates also includes the mute Sphinx, played by our own Vinnie Jones.
The car sequences are very special, with Cage doing a lot of the stunt driving himself. They are lacking in number however, with only the main pursuit scene at the end. Yet there are enough glimpses of Ferraris and Porsches ...

I first watched this fim at a friends house on surround sound dvd.It struck me straight away as being one of my favorite films of all time.
It has an original storyline, absolutley outstanding car scenes and wraps the audience up in its adrenalin pumping action.
The cast is second to none and vinnie jones adds the sincerity to the film by playing a mute who at the very end becomes a one line wonder, wise man when he spurts a short moral speech ... ...manage to put a love scene in by re-uniting an old couple due to his own brothers misfortune.
Te film gives of the impression that there is a spirital side of driving a car and the buzz you get from stealing a car that you know you would never normally be able to drive, even touch! Also the brotherhood between the two thiefs shows how they would all give up there lives for one another when push came to shove.
I reccomend this film to anyone who ...

...I have to say?
Gone in sixty seconds is a brilliant film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and written by Scott Rosenberg. This film can be watched by any member of the family and is enjoyed by everyone that sees it, most of all the film is action packed and mixes a sence of comedy action and drama. If you are a Top Gear fan you will love gone in sixty seconds more than anyone because of the many different types of cars that are on show.
Nicolas Cage ... ...thief brought out of retirement for one last boost (top class car crime) which will involve in stealing 50 top end cars in 1 night. The reason Memphis is brought back out of retirement is because his younger brother Kip (Gioyanni Ribisi) was promised the payment of $200,000 the theft of 50 top end cars by a notorious gangster, by the name Raymond Calitri (The Carpenter). Kip somehow messes up this order and puts his life in danger so his big brother ...

This film is absolutely amazing! Most people may think that it is a typical bloke's film, but I watched the film and loved it, and went to see it three times! Many people that I know loved it, both male and female, so I would easily recommend it. The basic plot is that a group of bad guys in a gang hire a top grand theft auto expert, Memphis, to steal a batch of 50 rare and special cars so that the guy can deliver. He has trouble finding people to ...

Advantages: Extra features Disadvantages: It's a disappointment stepping into your Honda Civic after watching this! No offence to Honda Civics!
A visually impressive film, no thanks to the acting, but to the directorship and the magnificent cars. The acting isn't that bad, a strong performance from Nicolas Cage and Robert Duvall help support the other stragglers, who become likable due to their slightly comical comments from time to time. This film is fast and fun, the story line is easy to follow with only half your attention. Don't get me wrong, this is a good film, it has it all, fast ... ...only thing really lacking is a worthwhile adversary. This movie offers us the bad guy in the form of 'The Carpenter' – he likes wood. His performance as a baddy is (I'm sure everyone has said it) wooden – the only true let down to a highly enjoyable movie. It's well worth it on DVD with the whole stereo surround-sound thing, turn it up loud and let the soundtrack blare out and the screams of the Mustang wake up the neighbourhood. ...

gone in 60 seconds is a remake of the1974 version. i think it has lived up to the first film (which was not completed). this is a great film, with what i would say makes a film great. it has fast cars, well known actors and a lot of crashes.
the story begins with kip memphises brother stealing a porsche, he arrogantly starts a street race and is seen by a police officer on the side of the road making a unrelated arrest. the police officer finds ... ...of minutes the whole police force is trying to catch kips gang. kip and his gang make a exit and fortunately no one is arrested, however a not so pleased calitri (who is going to buy the stolen cars) threatens to kill kip. memphis finds out and goes to see calitri and gives him money to let kip off the hook, unfortunately for kip calitri is more worried about his image, then he is trying to make money. calitri asks memphis to steal 50 cars for him ...

Gone in Sixty Seconds is a remake of an old classic. It has been updated and slightly changed to fit in with what the movie goers of today want to see. This is a Jerry Bruckheimer film and stars Nicholas Cage in his all too familiar roll of man on the wrong side of the law who has a conscience ,a southern drawl and an unusual name. Basically the film is about an ex car thief who has retired, because his mum told him to, but has to return to his former ... ...has to do this by stealing 50 cars in four days or his brother will be killed by the most feared man in town. unfortunately after a valiant persuit scene Memphis fails to get the last car there by the deadline so he has to die or his brother does but the cops intervene and finally Nicholas Cage saves the day. The film also stars Angelica Jolie as Memphis' ex girlfriend and Vinnie Jones , who Nicholas Cage wanted in the film after seeing Lock Stock ...
