Pussy Galore !

Advantages: One of Sean Connerys best

...by "Shirley Bassey" in the Goldfinger song that everybody should know by now, and this is one of the best Bond songs in history. We then find Bond away in Miami where Bond meets Jill Masterson who is spying for Goldfinger who is cheating on cards. Bond then sets up Goldfinger by making him loose $10000.00 to the other player he has been cheating on ! Goldfinger is mad at this and sends in his henchman Odd Job who knocks Bond unconscious. My Claim To Fame - I Beat 007 At Golf

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion

...~ ~ Bond again causes Goldfinger much trauma and stress when he challenges him to a golf match, (shot at Sunningdale in Berkshire) where Goldfinger again attempts his cheating ways, only to again be bested by the chicanery of our hero, who duly relieves him of the £5,000 side bet. (Off topic slightly. I have a slight “claim to fame” here, as I actually beat Connery in a game of golf at Prestonfield Golf Club in Edinburgh in the late ...
...~ We soon learn that Goldfinger has ambitious plans to break into the biggest bank in the world, Fort Knox, and to blow up the vast reserves of gold bullion stored in its massive vaults with an atomic bomb, which will make his own existing hoard of gold worth a massive fortune. To carry out this seemingly impossible task, as Fort Knox is guarded by literally thousands of US troops, Goldfinger has employed the services of a female pilot with her ...

THE GOLDEN TOUCH

Advantages: Fantastic selection of extras, plus one of the best spy movies ever
Disadvantages: The sound in is mono

...do about it (bored.com). Anyway, Goldfinger is of course the third Bond film and was originally released back in 1964. As with my other Bond opinions I will concentrate more specifically on the DVD extras, and improvements. However, for those of you who may be a little rusty on your 007 stories I will give a short overview of the film. Bond (Sean Connery) is sent to investigate an international businessman, Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe) because ...
...course. Bond soon discovers that Goldfinger is somewhat of a cheat – he likes to win (don’t we all). The first we see of Mr Goldfinger is while he is cheating in a game of cards. Later when Bond takes on Goldfinger at golf we see him cheat again with the aid of his henchman the unforgettable Odd Job who has a few hat related tricks up his sleeves. Bond soon discovers that Goldfinger is actually planning on cheating in a big way in order ...

Quality Bond action.

Advantages: It's a Bond movie!
Disadvantages: None worth speaking of.

...Lee) to discover if Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe), a gold obsessed industrialist, is smuggling gold out of Britain. During the course of his investigation, Bond discovers a much larger and more sinister plot by the villain to cripple the US economy which will increase the value of his own gold supply and help enemies of the United States in a financial sense. This was Connery's (and indeed, everyone else's) third outing with Bond and I think this ...
...expect me to talk?" • Goldfinger (laughing): "No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!" There are a few other outstanding elements of this particular Bond movie: the Aston Martin DB5 is a lovely car (the ejector seat when your girlfriend/boyfriend insists on listening to some crap music would be very handy, never mind the other cool stuff), and the theme tune, sung by Miss Shirley Bassey is one of the best on offer. Also, the image of Jill Masterson ...

Golden Bond Film

Advantages: Good Bond Film
Disadvantages: It's still Bond

...a small run in with Goldfinger Bond returns to yet another hotel with yet another girl. Bond is knocked unconscious by yet another henchman, and wakes to find the girl dead and covered in gold paint. Apparently her skin was suffocated (explain that one to me!!). The plot moves on to reveal the usual get all the gold, bring down the world government??..and here we go with the standard Bond film. You have all the action, in the form of car chases and ...
...Bond films of all time. Goldfinger is a great villain, and the actor Gurt Frobe gives a wonderful performance. The film is enjoyable from start to finish, and has enough gadgets, gizmos and guns to keep everyone happy. The plot is one of the best, and this time they get very close to succeeding. We must remember that Bond is primarily a spy, not as he has been portrayed recently as the 'Last Action Hero'. Bond is great throughout the film, at his ...

...pits his wits against Auric Goldfinger (the wonderful Gert Frobe) who intends to rob Fort Knox of all its gold. Bond must stop him. That's it. However, the plot does pad out nicely with the inclusion of Honor Blackman as the most famously named of all Bond girls: Pussy Galore. And of course, the first ridiculous henchman of the series, Oddjob (Harold Sakata), who makes good use of his sumo wrestler physique and his steel-lined Bowler. So what can ...
...producers have realised how popular Goldfinger is and given us a whacking amount of special features. There's the ever present audio commentary from director Guy Hamilton, but can you beleive it, they've also included a second commentary from various members of the crew and a few cast. This gives you four extra hours of entertainment, though I must confess I'm not a big fan of audio commentaries. These commentaries are not very inspiring if I'm ...

Goldfinger the definitive review

Advantages: A very very good Bond film
Disadvantages: But not the best film ever made folks!

...don’t wish to be misunderstood. Goldfinger is a great film, by any standard. It’s just that it doesn’t really do anything different to any of the other Bond films. But I suppose what it does, it does very well and in this particular installment, for Bond was now well established as a series, there are a few isolated scenes that really do shine. This film has 007 off to meet with and investigate Auric Goldfinger, an international ...
...each of the films, and Goldfinger plays by the book in every respect here. We meet Golfinger as he is attempting to cheat in a card game. Bond foils him, has an unpleasant meeting with his henchman, Oddjob, and, on instruction from his superioirs (MI7 in this film – the makers were still unhappy with a direct link to the Brish secret service) goes to investigate the mysterious villain. The scale of this film far outweighed anything the Bond ...

Things were about to get serious for Bond though as Goldfinger introduced one of cinemas greatest villans- Oddjob. The stocky, moustached oreintal and dressed in the steel rimmed bowler hat. Do you expect me to talk

Advantages: The biggest and boldest Bond of all
Disadvantages: TOO big?

...be the best Bond ever, Goldfinger just misses out on my own personnal top spot (Thunderball just shades it) but it's a cracking film none the less. This is the biggest Bond of all: biggest plot, biggest adversary, biggest gadgets - You name it, Goldfinger has it. Good old James is pitted against the industrialist Auric Goldfinger, a man with more than a slight liking for that gold stuff, gold. Turns out old AG wants to break into Fort Knox but doesn't ...
...of From Russia With Love, Goldfinger comes as a real punch in the face. It's bold, brassy (or should that be gold?), and full on. The sets and locations are in your face - It's huge, enormous and amazingly impressive. Everything about this film just reeks excess and has become something of an icon for the 1960's. We also have some of the most memorable scenes, items, and lines in cinematic history. Who can forget golden girl Shirley Eaton, the fantastic ...

This entanglement takes him to different points in the world and gets him into many dangerous circumstances. The famous Lazer beam sequence resounds in the memories of people today. But Bond's subtle arrogance ignites Goldfinger's firey temper as he refuses to go away. He is a quieter villain in my opinion but nevertheless evil, clearly a businessman obsessed with gold. JAMES BOND: What is great about Sean Connery's Bond is he is able to pull of the coolness and suaveness without over doing ...

...the genious of criminals. Auric Goldfinger wants to change that, he orginises a raid on Fort Knox, but not to steal any gold. Leave that to you. A absoulute masterpiece, one of the best films I have ever seen, not just the best Bond. Some people will be unable to follow the plot, but it is quite obvious really. A wonderful soundtrack makes every second the track is on worth every milisecond. The end, in which Goldfinger is outwitted by Bond is ...

Bond at his best

Advantages: Sean Connery, Fantastic score, great looking.
Disadvantages: Maybe a little dated at times.

This, one of the earliest Bond movies is also one of the best in the now tedious franchise. Made when all that Bond sexism, schlocky humour and daft gadgets had a still cool quality. It suited the sixties to a tea, and the role of Bond fitted Sean Connery like a well tailored suit. His particular brand of dry humour and sexist machismo prowess was what it required, add to that a fantastic score and theme tune from John Barry and, well, Goldeneye ...
