...too.
Striker manages to get the part of Demetrius; Alison gets the part of Hermia, and Kelly even gets the part she had heart set on, Helena. Berke manages to score the part of attendant number 3, which is ok as he’s not exactly after an Oscar. Striker (who is, kind of evil, well he is ‘British’ after all) knows what Berke is up to, and the two begin to argue constantly, much to Alison’s dismay. First time I saw this movie, I thought nothing of ... ...it’s the only time she’ll get away with these fun teen movie performances, so for this kind of film I thought she was great. You also get to hear Kirsten sing in the movie and I must say I was very impressed with her voice, didn’t realise she had it in her.
One of the best performances by far came from Martin Short who was just plain hilarious. He played Dr. Desmond Forrest Oates who was directing the play. He’s stuck in a job he obviously hates, ...

After numerous humiliating attempts at gaining his ex-girlfriends love which fail miserably he tries out for the school play, a musical version of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". And enlists the help of the outstanding Kelly who happens to be his best friends sister.

I really did not think the film was up to much. I did go expecting to see something similar to American Pie or the even more hilarious Road Trip but it lacked something.
I have not seen any of the cast of this movie in any other ...

...frightening me! How do you get dressed in the morning? Do you have people who come in? Or do you just lie in state?" (Desmond the Dotty Director)
Dr Desmond Forrest Oates, however, is a crazed perfectionist who won't settle for anything less than blood, sweat and tears from his cast and crew ("What direction do you think left is? Because see if you go with your instinct and reverse it, I think we'll have something happening!") and Berke is not managing ... ...little sister Kelly to help him learn his lines and how to perform. But what he doesn't count on is that he starts to grow more than a little fond of her. So when Alison starts to wonder if she made the wrong decision, Berke is perhaps about to make a wrong decision of his own . . .
This is definitely an above-average example of the teen movie genre, from the surreal opening sequence to one of the funniest attempts at a musical I have ever been ...

Get Over It - Rated: 12
Berke, a typical non entity that can be found in any high school, is dumped by his long term girlfriend Allison. To win back her heart, and to keep her away from the new man in her life, a Brit called Bentley, he enrolls as an extra in the school play. having no idea how to perform in this musical version of a Mid Summer Nights Dream, he enlists the help of his best friend's little sister, Kelly, who ultimately wants to do ... ...of Shakespearean verse? Get Over It displays all the qualities of a sure fire teen flick hit. Gorgeous leads, well written lines, a good - but simple - plot, and lots of references to body parts. It also, by nature of including Shakespeare and having many talented people in lead roles, lends itself to romatic comedy genre. This is its major flaw. It does not know what it is supposed to be. Take for example the opening credits, where Berke is followed ...

...and we went to see Get Over It. The fim has been out for while now and I have wanted to see it ever since it came out but I haven't really had the time to go and see it until this wet friday night. So we decided to head down to see the latest Teen Romantic as we are a pair of girls who just like that kind of stuff hehe!
Well anyway, I'm supposed to be writing about the film, not myself and my best friend! Stay on track Jen!
Well.....The film is ... ...Berke is heartbroken and can't get over her. Alison finds a new boyfriend who is more good-looking than her ex and Berke can't take it. He ends up singing outside her bedroom window and falling off a ledge of some sort.
Felix (Colin Hanks) and Dennis (the pop star, Sisqo) are his two very good friends. They can see he is heartbroken so they try and help him get over the one and only Alison. They take him to a Sex Club and he gets puts into a suspension ...

In order to get ready for the role he seeks help from his best mates sister, Kelly (Kirsten Dunst).

6) It was more about doing the midsummers night dream thing than anything else…not a bad thing par se but that’s not what the film was about was it?
7) Martin Short’s teeth.

...for a while. They get together just as Allison realises she wants Berke back). The characterisation is another plus point, because Kelly is a much more likeable character than Allison, so as an audience we feel what we are supposed to.
The bad points of the film are that is extremely cheesy, with the singing and dancing parts quite over-bearing in parts (the beginning, and the end) and seem almost irrelevant. The frequent lapses into 'Midsummer ... ...not, however, spoil enjoyment of the film a lot.
There is some humour in the film, and it raises a laugh at times. Inescapable though is the feeling that it just doesn't quite have the same effect as 'There's Something About Mary' to which it has been frequently compared, perhaps unfairly.
So, my verdict is, if you want a quick, easy-watching film and don't mind a bit of cheese, then go and see it. If you are looking for a laugh-a-minute or anything ...

So, Get Over It. Teen comedy. Gross out moments. Shouting. Trendy music. Has-been celebrity cameo. What more d'you want?
The movie takes its dramatic elements from A Midsummers Night Dream (the kids have to put on a musical version, called... "A Midsummer's Rocking Dream". Appropriately enough, the movie has many dream elements, revolving around the main character trying to get his ex-girlfriend back via his best friend's sister ... ...movie is Martin Short as the harassed choreographer, with his constant baiting of his assistant and imaginative insults he steals the show. Advantages: greta love/comedy film Disadvantages: none
Get over it is a new film out in the cinemas now! Get over it is a dreamy love story and it is also a comedy. I went to see this film when it first came out as I thought I would really enjoy the film and I did. The story is Berke (Ben Foster) is going out with Allison (Melissa Sagemiller) the prettiest girl in school. But when Allison tells Berke it is over he is heartbroken and decides he’ll do anything to get Allison back. But Allison starts ... ...and Berke decides to auditions for the school musical (which is very humiliating for him) to impress Allison. Kelly (Kirsten Dunst) sees that Berke needs help with the play and starts to take an interest in him. But as the big night of the musical comes who will Berke choose to be with, Allison or Kelly?
You have to see this movie it is so great and it has a very happy ending. Collin Hanks also appears in the movie as Berkes best friend called Felix. ...

Advantages: Berke's Hip Parents Disadvantages: Short's Drama Teacher- your teeth will be grating
Having seen Kirsten Dunst in the Cheerleader film "Bring It On" which is very much in the same vein I was prepared to put my brain in neutral on a sunny afternoon for her latest offering.
The story starts with childhood sweethearts Berke & Allison in their idyllic relationship, however when Berke is dumped unexpectedly he hatches a plan to woo her back.
This involves attempting to win a role opposite her in the school's adaptation of "A Midsummer ... ...to land a supporting role with not a little coaching from his best friend's sister Kelly (Dunst) who has her own designs on him.
The biggest irritation in this film for me is the Drama Teacher (Martin Short) who is irritating in the extreme. Along the way we are "treated" to several pointless fantasy sequences which add nothing to the film.
The only highpoints of the film & believe me they are only on the first floor are Berke's parents played ...

Advantages: A hilarious comedy which the everyone over the age of 13 will enjoy Disadvantages: Not a very complicated storyline, nevertheless very amusing.
...goings-on in most teen films, Get over It was a great break, and extremely entertaining.
The story centres around a school performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream", in which the four lead roles are taken by the main character, his ex-girlfriend, who he is trying to GET OVER, hence the name, her new boyfriend, and the sister of his friend/new love interest. Given the partner-swapping nature of "A Midsummer Night's Dream", this makes for very entertaining ... ...side-splitting scenes I have ever seen.
Despite the cliched ending, "Get Over It" combines clever humour with the teen romance that is popular in many films, making it a great film for anyone aged between about 13 and 50. (From my own experience I know this is true, I watched it with people from three generations and all were falling off their chairs laughing) ...

Advantages: Fun, humour, great to see with your mates, a good talking point. Disadvantages: story line grew weaker as it went along, the 'english' character, and the lack of any big storylines for sisqo!
Get Over It sounded quite a good film, the idea of a comedy tied in with romantic lines, wasn't a new idea, but it usually worked.I'd been thinking about going to see this film for sometime, mainly tempted by the r'n'b sensation sisqo taking a part in the film. The first 15 minutes of the film were quite promising, berke getting dumped by one of the most popular girls in the school, then his friends helping him find someone else.It all started well ... ...the end of the film!Don't get me wrong this is a good film, but if you are looking for a great film dont come and see this!I'm not going to reveal anymore about the film, but if you like American Pie humour, but without quite as many sexual inudendos you will definately like this, i really liked it, but i didnt love it. ...
