...How wrong was I?!
Friends with Money (pretentious title or what?) tells us the tale of 4 women, all friends but all very different and at different points in their lives at the moment. Franny has inherited her money but her husband seems to think it's as much his as it is hers, Christine is a script writer for television shows but her marriage is in real trouble, Jane is a fashion designer with a questionable husband and who is falling apart in ... ...as a maid. Her 3 friends are determined to find her love but Olivia isn't having much luck. Will the women remain friends through the ups and downs?
I thought from the plot this might be a funny take on friendship and how the women cope with the vast sums of money they have and a bit of a funny story to do with Olivia as well but this just didn't happen. In facts, I don't actually recall even cracking a smile throughout this dire movie, it was so ...

...to make ends meet.
Friends with Money seems to be being presented to the world as a chick flick - our DVD box is pink... This is probably cos it's got Jennifer Aniston in it. It did win a Women's film prize for the Director but I feel it has more to offer than to be written off as another girlie film. There are some truly amusing parts to the film and how well it is crafted was not obvious to me on the first viewing - being a boy I am perhaps a ... ...and Simon McBurney being my favourites however I think different people will have different characters that they relate to/like better than others, there is a good range from which to choose. Joan Cusack and Catherine Keeler do well as do Jason Isaacs and Greg Germann - all faces you will know from elsewhere. The more minor characters are well cast, particularly the Marty.
I see this as an ensemble piece with a good actors and performances, well ...

Friends with Money is a 2006 romantic film released in the United Kingdom on May 26th 2006. The film was written and directed by Nicole Holofcener and stars Jennifer Anniston. Running time of the movie is eighty eight minutes. Olivia is a single woman who is working hard as a maid in Los Angeles to scrape by on little income. Her three friends (and their husbands) , however are mega-rich ; the total opposite of Olivia , although each friend has their ... ...friends ; three rich , one poor , and you get an insight into their lives. That's all there is to the plot really.
Although there are only seven main characters in this film, I found that I couldn't connect with any of them. It had nothing to do with the fact that they were upper-class , just that as a viewer I don't think we had a chance to really get to know the characters as well as we could of , and this resulted in me not really caring about ...

Friends with Money is about the relationship between four women who have been friends for years and as they enter their 30's and 40's their friendship is challenged by their individual degree of financial comfort. The film mainly centres around the character Olivia (Jennifer Aniston) who seems unable to make a living or maintain a successful relationship and her three closest friends who seem to have everything but consequently by examining Olivia's ... ...chick flick".
I found Friends with Money easy to watch if a little tedious in parts, however on the whole I would say it is worth watching if only for an insite into the insecurities and problems faced by what I would imagine to be every human being.
This film will make you laugh and cry and will also make you consider the issues it brings up.
Definately a film to watch with the girls though as my boyfriend found it boring (apart from him fancying ...
