Advantages: Good acting, good effects, interesting storyline Disadvantages: Slow storyline, a little lacking in the storyline in places
Introduction ~~
I was attracted to 15 minutes because of the presence of Robert De Niro, he has starred in some of the best films ever made and there were high expectations for his appearance in 15 minutes.
15 Minutes is not your typical action film – it is not merely made up of tough-talking cops, rapid gunfire and big explosions. Unlike many action films it is totally unpredictable and with a twist in the tale you will be kept guessing ... ...end. The story is also remarkably clever and in many ways you could describe 15 Minutes as being a satire.
The Story ~~
Robert De Niro plays Eddie Flemming, a cigar smoking famous New York cop, “It’s all about the image” he brags taking a drag on his fat cigar and a swig of whiskey then walking over smiling to give a interview on the latest murder case to hit New York. Media-savvy Flemming is still a fairly likeable character, ...

Advantages: Intersting subject areas. Nudity and violence (if that is your thing). Reasonable acting performances Disadvantages: no subtlety, strange character developments. Weak script, unbelievable. Poor ending
Two eastern europeans, Emil (Karel Roden) and Oleg (Oleg Taktarov, who is an Ultimate Fighting Champion!), turn up in Manhattan after a stint in jail following a heist in which they got arrested, hoping to claim their share of the money. When it is not forthcoming things start to go wrong. Oleg, feeling he has it in him to be a top film director decides to film the whole torrid affair. Compounding our thugs’ problems is the fact that a beautiful ... ...decide to light a fire, which brings in arson specialist Jordy Warsaw, played by Edward Burns (‘Any Given Sunday’, ‘Saving Private Ryan’, director of ‘She’s All That’), and celebrity homicide detective Eddy Flemming (Robert De Niro) to track them down.
The film is mostly taken from the perspective of the two criminals, and as the bodies mount up, and after watching a bit of daytime talk-shows, they decide ...

...film is no exception.
Fifteen Minutes follows Oleg and Emil as they travel to America to collect the loot from a bank job that they got sent down for. Ever since watching "It's a Wonderful Life" when he was a child, Oleg has wanted to come to America and become a famous director like Frank Capra. So when he sees a video camera in a shop window, he has to have it, so he steals it and starts to film everything that he and Emil do in NYC, legal and ... ...koot doesn't go as planned, and Emil kills the guy he was going to get the money from. The duo escape and torch the place. And this is all within the first 20 minutes.
Brought in to crack the case are big shot "cop with the quote" Eddie Flemming (Bobby De Niro) and Arson Fire Marshall Jordy Warsaw (Edward Burns). They don't get on at first, but soon bond, as you'd expect.
The crux of the main story revolves around the fact that Emil realises that ...

Advantages: Action, Action, Action. Disadvantages: What if you want more from a movie than superficial action? Sadly this doesn't offer a great deal more.
...remark about everyone having their fifteen minutes of fame sometime in their life. Sadly though for this film, the invigorating start gives way to a tabloid flameout that it tries to indict.
"Fifteen Minutes" starts promisingly enough with two eastern european gangsters (played by Karel Roden and Oleg Tagtarov) murdering a fellow collegue and his wife, then setting their Manhattan flat ablaze to hide their crime. This brings a homocide cop and a ... ...and Edward Burns respectively). De Niro's character, Eddie Flemming, is a celebrity TV cop, who uses his TV status to suit his needs more than for professional use. Burns's Jordy Warsaw has only contempt for TV showboating, and they somehow manage to form an unlikely alliance of sorts, to join forces to track down a fleeing witness to the double murder.
The capers of the two gangsters keeps Hollywood happy with a high body count, as they continue ...

Advantages: interesting story, some good acting Disadvantages: can be a bit too silly at times
As you can see from the score above I thought this film was average, which is unusual for me because I'm the sort of person who either loves something or hates it, but now I'm going to have to try to justify myself with regards to why I thought this film was so average.
I've been receiving a lot of flak lately for just giving my opinions of films without saying much about the story of the film itself, mainly because when I read a review that’s ... ...the story, I just want to know whether I should go and see it. I find even knowing a small amount about the film can really detract from the enjoyment of it, and for that reason whenever I read a review I frequently just skip to the last paragraph to find out whether it is any good without having to find out about the story of the film itself. The films I enjoyed most the first time I saw them have been the ones I’ve known absolutely nothing ...

Advantages: some decent action Disadvantages: nothing new, doesn't convey message that well, muddled
When I was in New York last year a trailer for this film was shown on one of my movie visits and frankly it was one of the worst trailers I had ever seen. The fact that New Line kept chopping and changing the release date also didn't give positive signs for the film. Fast foward to a UK release and the reviews were less than complimentary. So thanks to a borow of my cousin's dvd copy I am now able to offer my own view. 15 Minutes takes it's title ... ...a New York cop Eddie Fleming who's a bit of a celebrity thanks to his high profile busts and that fact that he gets a tabloid TV journalist (Kelsey Grammer) to film his busts for broadcast. Meanwhile two shifty men from eastern european fly into the big apple to get some money that is owed to them from a job. things go wrong and soon murder is commited which leads to a fire in an apartment building. Enter arson investigator Jordy Warsaw (Ed Burns) ...

Advantages: Good performances, tight action thriller with good twists along the way Disadvantages: nothing
This is a cop thriller with a twist and really is a film that you should go and see.
It stars Robert de Niro as homicide cop Eddie Fleming, who has become a real media celebrity. That fact is a key to this whole movie. Eddie is the 'cop with a quote', the one the TV News stations call on to get the hot coverage of the latest 'bust'.
Eddie is one of the first things that two Eastern European visitors to the US - Oleg and Emil - see when they hit ... ...movie obsessed Emil filming everything on his stolen Camcorder - including the double murder of their ex-partner in crime and his wife, by Oleg - they hatch a plan to cash in on their increasing notoriety.
They have footage of the murder on tape - they've seen a murderer interviewed on TV, after he's got off scot free by claiming he was insane. He has sold his story and the movie rights and will make milions of dollars. Oleg and Emil think this ...

...to waste his talent. Unfortunately. Fifteen Minutes is a confused piece of work but I'll try and bring some clarity to its failings below.
Cinematography - if you are going to use amateur video in your film, best make sure the film work is impeccable; here there are times when they are indistinguishable and some of the pans and tracks are eccentric.
Plot - Glacial urgency and a continuity editor asleep on the job. Its way too long and cannot decide ... ...(one of the bad guys has more than a passing resemblance to a young Charles Bronson) or a wry take on the hypocrisy of the media. At other times it tries to fit into Seven's shoes, but the film's take on the pathological is less John Doe and more Doctor Evil (without the gags). This film's 'unique' take on the buddy movie is that one is a cop and the other is....a fireman! So, as you would expect, there is a higher than average number of fire-related ...

Advantages: De Niro. Above average concept Disadvantages: Blown ending
What really does start out as a blinding modern cop thriller ends up so far up it's own arse that you long for Frank Drebin to walk on set.
Lets get a few things straight..
1) The main charactes are well acted.
2) The first three quarters of the film very interesting and watchable
3) The ending is blown big style....
The set us is good, you watch most of the film thinking it's great then you get to a hashed ending.
This film, from the moments ... ...putting the dectectives killing on the air is also the moment when the story runs out of steam. I don't know why - and I hope those of you that see it can tell me, but the last 10 or so mins of the film seam very, very poor.
I can't tell you what happens in case it spoils it for you, but the whole episode of one of the leads taking the killer away to a disused factory shold have, in my opinion been the ending. I think that they got to this point ...

Advantages: The movie has Robert de Niro. And well mixture of action and converzations like lesson. Disadvantages: Some scenes made by amateur camera made me sick.
The lock point of this movie is not its scenario or its organisation,it is Edward Burns' acting style. At first part the outstanding actor Robert de Niro shows his great performance and Edward Burn is supressed under pressure of him.But at the second part when De Niro's act finished Edward Burns remembers who he is and begin to act more positive. If he continues like the first part maybe the movie can sink.
Let's look at the story:
At first the director ... ...wants to show us that the journalistes think only a good crime gets high rating. And the sleazy journalist Robert Hawkins(Kelsey Grammar) know that the only way to catch big rating is following the most valuable detective Eddie Fleming(Robert de Niro). Then we meet with Emil and Oleg(Emil is Czech Oleg is Russian).Oleg is a relax man and his dream is being a good director(his idol is Frank Capra) and Emil has got an ability to lost easily his temper. They ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: No characters, poor story, dull, boring
The usual look at blockbuster offerings came up with nothing I really wanted to see. This looked reasonable… but my God, I wished I had checked IMDB or similar first. There was no review here… presumably because the people who have watched it have died of boredom?
With Robert De'Niro in charge I expected something at least half way decent. But no…this has got to be one of the worst films I have ever seen. This is dullness taken ... ...Err… yep… slowly.
No real attempts to get into the characters, no introductions, no middles, no ends. Just no characters. The story is something to do with some Russian blokes but I don’t really know why?
I cannot think of one single redeeming feature for this film. It has something to do with the irony of a weak US justice system (or so I’m told) but I just thought it was just awful.
I have no idea what the rest of the ...

Advantages: Worth Watching Disadvantages: Predictable In Places
This thriller is a crossbreed taking elements of 39mm and Seven and putting them together to make a rather disjointed thriller.
The basic plot :- Two Russian gangsters enter America to collect the loot from their last robbery for which they were imprisoned. They find their partner and he tells them he has spent the loot. One of the gangsters kills him and his girlfriend while the other catches the murder on video tape. There is a witness who they ... ...murders which are filmed. The film title comes from they fact thay they hear that anyone convicted of murder in America who pleads insanity will not face the death penalty but will instead go to a hospital where they will be released when they are considered fit back into society. The plan is they will sell the video tape to a TV network and collect the proceeds once out of hospital. DeNiro plays a famous Cop who has appeared in many magazines and ...

Advantages: Entertaining Disadvantages: Poor acting from Burns
...Well, I probably only saw fifteen minutes of outstanding acting from him, no more. Don't take me wrong, De Niro is quite convincing throughout the movie but he did not get the chance to show what he is capable of.
Instead we get Eddie Burns, who in my opinion was monotonous through the show. He contributes little to the spirit of the movie and seems to just be there for the sake of it. Who really steal the show and keep you awake between action ...
